Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Why? Genuine question. Milner hasn't really been dominated by pace all season. In fact, as full backs go, not many in the league have been more consistent.

Because he's not a defender. I still shudder when I see Valencia at right-back when we play a team with a quality attack, especially when it's focused down their left.

Valencia hasn't put a foot wrong against anyone decent though has he? I think both Milner and Valencia have matched any challenge thrown at them as full backs this season.

He is. He plays in defence. When he's in midfield he's a midfielder. Above all he's a good footballer, which is why Klopp trusts him at FB. As for Valencia, according to Ste Armstrong from United We Stand, he's arguably been United's player of the season.

All of that is true. But I kind of agree with the earlier poster that when you don't have a specialist in what ever position, there is always a degree of doubt. Valencia has had a few years of playing at full back now, albeit not exclusively / consistently and so he's a bit ahead of Milner, plus he's on his natural side.

Rather than Martial or Rashford against him id rather see Mata or even better Miki against him. With Martial and Rashford its a lot easier to predict the positions they'll tyake up and what they'll do....ie look to push it past and get after it. Milner is quick and so that's a challenge he wont be too worried about. Mata will pull him all over. He'll come inside, he'll stay wide, he'll drop deep and cause Milner diferent kinds of problems. Miki has the ability to do both what Mata can do and what Martial / Rashford can do.

Christ. Where do you even start with that level of argumentation.
Moyes also had more points at a certain stage of the season in comparison to Mourinho. However, the fans were not up in arms because it was the performances that gave us hope that it would turn around.

Everyone can clearly see Liverpool are on the up under Klopp, that stat is meaningless, but fun to wind up Liverpool fans with.

Yeah, insane.

Klopp's clearly done a very good job taking circumstances into consideration.

LVG did not, in any way, do a very good job.

At the very best, one could argue he steadied the ship slightly post-Moyes, which was bound to happen with the level of investment he was granted.

You should never have booted him out like old trash then. Seeing as he has a better record than Klopp he might actually have had you above him right now, i.e. first place.

Hey you sacked the only manager to win you a trophy in the last ten years. Booted him out like trash. And he was a Liverpool legend too!

Shameful :nono:

Should you not wait until the end of the season before deciding
If he's doing a good job?
This time last year LVG came off a year where he finished 4th and seemed to outplay every big side we faced. We also went into the Arsenal game top of the table in November (?) in his second season. All of that post Moyes.
Lets wait and see.

As Wrighty says. It's all about the difference in expectations between the most successful club in England and little Liverpool.

And Wrighty should know, he who fecked up his own son's career in one fell and failed swoop. :)

In fairness, Klopp seemed to completely give up on the league last season, while LvG was always fighting completely. So I don't think those numbers are a completely fair representation.

These comparisons based on a single data point really grind my gears. I would say Klopp has Liverpool moving in the right direction after a slow start where as LVG kept us at a consistent level but showed no real progress aside from the initial improving on the worst manager we have had in the last 30 years. So a comparison of the first 50 games shows us nothing. If the comparison showed a profile of when the points were collected then a better assessment could be made.

The really annoying part is that the media know this and use it to entice us into providing them clicks.

Are you actually 12 years old?
Why are you always taking issue with what Utd supporters say about Liverpool?

You're probably in the wrong place if you want to read hundreds of gushing posts about Deidre and his team of gurner pressen.

Seriously, RAWK is the place for praising Liverpool even when you're shite.

Really? So over the past 9 years I have had plenty of decent debate and disagreement, which makes it a compelling site. Fanboy-level junk isn't the best form of discourse. Just saying.

While I'm not van Gaal's biggest fan, and I think he needed to go when he did (I also think he's become far too conservative in his football as he's aged), I feel that's a little harsh on him.

In his first season he got a top 4 finish, and in his 2nd he won the F.A Cup.

Klopp has thus far achieved neither, and in my opinion, it shouldn't be viewed as a given that he'll achieve either this season.

There is a lot of hype around Liverpool this season, and if I was a Liverpool fan I'd be wary of it.

Despite what the dippers on here say, they are a team under Klopp who will always struggle as the season goes on - that's the reason why Klopp bemoans the X-mas fixtures so much, because he knows that his team suffers particularly from them.

They might cling on to a top 4 place this season, but that's what it'll be - clinging on. The notion of a title push, was, yet again, way too early and will leave them feeling deflated.

And indeed they might win a cup, in fact, I'd be more confident in them winning a cup than them finishing in the top 4.

The first time we played Manchester city, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton away under Klopp have all provided wins. I am not the most confident I have ever been of a game against United, but I do trust Klopp and I wouldn't be suprised if he sprung a suprise to help us win on Sunday. The best thing about this season though is that even if we lose against a team who have excellent players I know Klopp will have them back firing in no time. The manager is the most important signing of the past 10 years I would say. Even if we end up 4th I'll still enjoy this season.

I could manage to beat Everton at Goodison as Liverpool managmanager to be fair. When was the last time you lost there?
That's Irrelevant, it's still a big Derby that means probably more to the Everton players and to have won his first Derby at Goodison Park like that shows the mentality instilled in the players. What about the other venues you've chosen to ignore? Let me guess, the Arsenal one doesn't count because "they were not prepared" and Neither does beating Chelsea away from home two seasons in a row.

To me he looked very slow and rigid against S'oton so with Pogba and Herrera feeding the flanks he will be in trouble.

Ok. I'll probably use the sample from the previous two dozen games he's played there.

That doesn't really sound like much of a battle cry to me.
Is it a battle cry? Just a manager with a track record of getting 11 lads to do well, particularly against better teams - hence Liverpool sitting on top of the Top 6 mini league so far.

I can see it now. The red tops will be:

"Gurning Flop Blasts his players"
As Klopp says repeatedly: "When we win it's because of the players and when we lose it's because of me". Blaming footballers is left to other managers, who never accept they're wrong.

@Dumbstar seemed to think it was.

And yeah, Liverpool have always been good at raising their game against the bigger teams. Feels like it's been like that for years. You're very plucky

Ok. I'll probably use the sample from the previous two dozen games he's played there.
What's the use if he's tired, or looks tired right now? Previous good 20 games don't mean a thing if you're playing badly or you're worn out.

Any sane football fan no matter what their allegiance would acknowledge that the LVG vs Klopp stat is meaningless and that Klopp is doing a better job.

However, when the stats are the other way round (e.g. Moyes had more points than Mourinho after X games) suddenly it's okay for sanity to go out the window.

That's odd. It's almost like you're talking total shite.

Well done. As I said earlier the scousers love to venerate their managers, usually beyond all reason....
