Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

I don't think he's underestimated anything. I think he's just inherited a laughably bad squad. I don't think there's any player there that I'd consider a properly good player and I include the wildly overrated Coutinho in that.

I don't think that squad is that bad. Earlier when he took over people were saying the main area he has to deal with is the defensive side. There side had decent attacking players. People were saying stuff like he will revitalise firmino and that he wanted Benteke at Dortmund so he will use him right.

just looked at his managerial achievements. He did do very well with Dortmund winning the titles there.
Logically, I think people are considering what he did a few years ago. They are using that as a basis for his high rating as a manager.
Recently though, he hasn't been great and I dont think anybody can argue with that.

could it be he just needs his players in? He will have no excuses if he cannot get results after that.

Awful team in many ways...

Coutinho, Sturridge (when fit) and Ibe look good players. Milner is a decent player to have around. Clyne is decent enough. Genuinely not sure about Benteke.

They lack real quality and CB is horrible...midfield is average at absolute best.

More interested to see what occurs if and when he gets his players in.

He was quite narky in 2 post-match interviews yesterday, it was a bit unnecessary. Along with his refusal to shake hands with the West Brom staff his jolly, quirky image will be eroded soon enough if he keeps this up.

Ibe's been trash this whole season.

I'm sure I could say the same thing about your list of five, but I'm not interested in asking for things like that and put a remark without any substance under it. Yes, I do take offence, not because you don't agree, but for the false pretence.
My list of five? I think he's the best manager around. You putting Van Gaal and Conte there is just incredible, van Gaal especially who is on the verge of being sacked. On what basis is he currently a better manager than Guardiola? There's no pretence. I was genuinely curious at who all you consider better.

If he wasnt aware what a pile of shite the majority of this squad is he definitely knows now. Completely inbalanced and the only top player we have permeanantly resides in a hospital.
No 10s who dont score or do nothing but spin in a circle ( Lallana), midfielders who are mid table at best, all do the same thing and are completely incapable of controlling a game, defenders who cant hold a line (Skrtel) and goalkeepers prone to dropping clangers on a weekly basis.
So much money wasted on shite, only hope of top 4 is a couple good jan signings in key areas and Sturridge managing to somehow stay fit.
Still with Klopp in charge at least we can be confident he'll make the right calls.

I think it is strange when people talk about squad strength after a run in which you have not won against Newcastle, WBA and Watford. The same thing also holds true for LVG at United, you can make all the excuses you like but it's just bizarre to talk about how bad the United or Liverpool squad is because these squads are still way better than most of the teams they are losing to.

Are they though? That's not so true a statement as it used to be, the smaller clubs are buying great players, look at Stoke! Granted most of them have moved to big clubs and failed but they're not bad players and in many cases are exactly the type of players Liverpool would buy, because they can't compete with us, Arsenal, City or Chelsea anymore. LVG has less of an excuse given the near unlimited budget and our club's standing (although that's fading).

Mainly because he knows how to have a team punch above it's weight, and often not just a tiny bit, but really heavy blows. Also he can rebuild clubs and implement playing styles alien to them. That's two things Pep has never shown.

You asked me a second time, I write it down for you, and then you just use it to ignore the arguments in the same reply. Take offence is a bit exaggerated, but it's not very polite, is it?

liverpool are shit. they have some good players , two or three really. CB's are shit , midf is ordinary at best.

So alot like us only we have to lose the manager and change again.....Changing managers I'm not sure works for a club who's best years have involved allowing youth to develop within the club..works well at Chelsea and Madrid but then they have a mentality throughout the club geared to not giving a shit to principles I hold dearly as why i love our club....conundrum...

Yes they really are! These clubs would give anything to have our squad depths and talent like Mata, herrera, Smalling, Shaw, Martial, Depay etc on their books. LVG has to change and I believe its possible for him to adapt. He said himself his philosophy has changed throughout his years and former players for him have testified that it has. To say his evolution has stopped now I'm not sure can be proven at this point in time.

um no - klopp hasn't brought in a single player. LVG has had 3 windows and a better core from which to start. the reason united will have to go into the market again is because of LVG's prior transfer windows. klopp will be working with a bigger budget than he;s ever had in the summer and he'l sort it out.

Juande Ramos has been just as successful as Klopp yet isn't as well thought of. What I'm saying is he's been successful at one football club, and that he also declined in a very short period of time.

Okay, he lost a lot of decent players but it's been proven since these current players can still play very well together. He was massively underachieving in the last season.

He's hugely overrated in my opinion.

talk about knee jerk reactions. Yes, his start with Liverpool is slightly underwhelming, but that means very little. Give him one summer to get his players and judge him next season. Anything else is just stupid.

I know this isnt your point but for example i would take the likes of Mahrez, Vardy, Payet, Ayew over the likes of players like Lallana, Benteke ( decent player mind just doesnt fit), Similarly the likes of Cabaye, Song, over the likes of Milner, Allen. We have consistently over the last few years signed players completely out of line with the way we want to play, we've built a squad with no leadership at the back, players in midfield who all do the exact same thing, and an attack that looks good on paper but contributes the sum total of feck all. Its all well and good having Sturridge to occasionally paper over the cracks on his obligatory days out from the hospital but the fact is we've built a ridiculously inbalanced squad.
I'd have no hesitations binning of the likes of Mignolet, Lovren, Skrtel, Lucas, Enrique, Milner, Lallana, Allen, Benteke and the other deadwood I've no doubt missed, and building a squad around the likes Sturridge Ings Gomez Ibe Henderson Coutinho Sakho and Clyne. With the jury still out if Markovic, Origi and Firmino can join that list. Pace, Movement, Creativity and Technical Ability. Let Klopp bring in players of that ilk teach them some sorely lacking game intelligence i.e. how to use width effectively and let him build a side capable of challenging and not getting bullied by every team that gets down and dirty with us.
Off the top of me head I'd say we need a GK, CB, Possibly a full back, DM, Alonso type controller MID, a wideman with pace and goals and a Sturridge type forward, although not many out there like that, would be good if we could use the fecker himself

Ours? Yes. But Liverpools? That's my point, look at Coutinho, discarded by Inter and picked up by Liverpool. That's the kind of players they look for, not quite good enough for the top clubs, but those players are now in the reach of clubs like Stoke. Bojan, Shaqiri, etc.

Bojan and Shaq were both in Liverpool's sights (along with Yarmalenko and Konoplyanka). All of them basically gagging to come to a big payday, erm, big club in England. And we watched as Rodgers and our prestigious committee bought in overpriced crud transfer window after transfer window. Firmino and Lallana instead of any of the above. Crazy how people keep their jobs when a 9 year old girl could do better.

Apparently Klopp said to Pulis on the touch line 'it's managers like you why England players are so shit!'

Fresh face in his first month, always does well in his second month, notorious for flopping in his third.

 The team Pulis put out against Liverpool (spot the Englishman for a prize - Lambert excluding as he was brought on 3 hours after the game ended):
  • 13 Myhill
  • 25 Dawson
  • 23 McAuley
  • 03 Olsson
  • 11 Brunt
  • 06 Evans
  • 08 Gardner
  • 24 Fletcher
  • 07 Morrison
  • 14 McClean
  • 33 Rondón (Lambert - 94' )
FYI, in the same game Liverpool had the England captain and FOUR OTHER Englishmen playing a substantial part.:lol::lol:

 Englishmen actually, Dawson and Gardner. Tbf, Myhill, McAuley, Brunt, Evans, Fletcher, Morrison, and McClean are all British and Klopp probably doesn't know the difference.

Still funny, he is basically slagging off half his own team.

Roy Hodgson should pick all the players you mentioned then. I'm sure Great Britain are not playing in the Euros this summer. Maybe I've been in a parallel universe, as has Klopp. :p

Van Gaal used to have teams punching above their weight. Hasn't done so of late though, has he? He's actually had us punching well below our best especially when it comes to performance. I do agree about the 2nd bit, he has implemented new styles but we are yet to see that style delivering. It's all well and good getting a set of players playing a radically different style but the real judgment is based on how well they deliver it and not just the fact that they play it. So far, it isn't working. What he has achieved in the past is all well and good and I have massive respect for his career but as of now, he has no leg to stand on if he's being compared to Guardiola. Guardiola introduced a new style and has delivered with it.

Yeah, ignoring your points wasn't very polite but I was totally put off by the names you mentioned. I'll go reread what you wrote in that post and reply.

2012-2014, 2009-2010, 2008-2009, and last spring there was a brief spell to.

I don't deny it isn't going well right now, but if you want to judge managers by only their last few matches, your judgement is going to be off because there are much more things influencing the results and the entertainment than just the manager. It's over longer periods that patterns start appearing and can be concluded whether a manager does make a squad punch above it's weight.

Pep hasn't done it sofar, his squad is heavy weight which is extremely good at beating up lightweights, but gets a terrible beating form other heavy weights. So far at least.

Yeah, ignoring your points wasn't very polite but I was totally put off by the names you mentioned. I'll go reread what you wrote in that post and reply.
If you say Van Gaal is ridicolous in that list because he's supposed to be sacked, you're not judging managers but you're just stating the recent mood. Klopp didn't suddenly stop beeing a very good manager either, he just got in trouble and how a manager handles trouble is a big part of what makes him good.

Good interview. Allardyce is a dickhead and he's spot on about Benteke.

Klopp is coming across as more of a dickhead with each passing day.

Must be doing his job then...would hate to see a Liverpool manager liked on here. Think Hodgson was the last one who wasn't detested.
If Klopp were acting like this in any other club he would be called out for it as well.
Acting the prick on the sidelines isn't a prerequisite for success
