I think it is strange when people talk about squad strength after a run in which you have not won against Newcastle, WBA and Watford. The same thing also holds true for LVG at United, you can make all the excuses you like but it's just bizarre to talk about how bad the United or Liverpool squad is because these squads are still way better than most of the teams they are losing to.
I know this isnt your point but for example i would take the likes of Mahrez, Vardy, Payet, Ayew over the likes of players like Lallana, Benteke ( decent player mind just doesnt fit), Similarly the likes of Cabaye, Song, over the likes of Milner, Allen. We have consistently over the last few years signed players completely out of line with the way we want to play, we've built a squad with no leadership at the back, players in midfield who all do the exact same thing, and an attack that looks good on paper but contributes the sum total of feck all. Its all well and good having Sturridge to occasionally paper over the cracks on his obligatory days out from the hospital but the fact is we've built a ridiculously inbalanced squad.
I'd have no hesitations binning of the likes of Mignolet, Lovren, Skrtel, Lucas, Enrique, Milner, Lallana, Allen, Benteke and the other deadwood I've no doubt missed, and building a squad around the likes Sturridge Ings Gomez Ibe Henderson Coutinho Sakho and Clyne. With the jury still out if Markovic, Origi and Firmino can join that list. Pace, Movement, Creativity and Technical Ability. Let Klopp bring in players of that ilk teach them some sorely lacking game intelligence i.e. how to use width effectively and let him build a side capable of challenging and not getting bullied by every team that gets down and dirty with us.
Off the top of me head I'd say we need a GK, CB, Possibly a full back, DM, Alonso type controller MID, a wideman with pace and goals and a Sturridge type forward, although not many out there like that, would be good if we could use the fecker himself
