Julio Cesar

Because he is always injured

They were talking about his decline on the 5Live World Football phone-in and Tim Vickery said it was ever since he flapped at Sneijder's cross in the World Cup (when Melo scored the own goal). However it appears to me his fall can be traced back to the car accident he had a few months earlier IIRC. Either way, he's dropped a level or two since the heady heights of 2007-2010.

The Brazilian goalkeeper's transfer from Inter Milan will be finalised once he has received international clearance and been granted a visa, and he is already relishing the challenge.

He is excited about the club's ambitious plans and feels confident Mark Hughes' men can gradually become a major force in English football.

"I have many dreams at QPR," he told the Daily Mail.

"To play well for the fans, the manager, the chairman and myself. And eventually finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League and then one day win the Premier League.

"It is possible. A few years ago nobody believed Manchester City would ever win the Premier League. So we have to dream. When you dream, things can happen. That's the reason I came here."

The 32-year-old added: "I'm very, very happy. It's a new experience for me and my family. The opportunity to play in the Premier League, the best football in the world. I can't wait to train, I can't wait to play."

Cesar will vie with fellow summer signing Robert Green to be first choice at Loftus Road and he knows QPR need to improve dramatically following a 5-0 thrashing by Swansea on the opening day.

"I saw the first game. Wow! It was terrible for them and they had some problems but these things happen in football," said Cesar.

"When I met the coach I asked him what happened in the first game. But they drew away in the second game (1-1 at Norwich) and that's a good result.

"I hope to be the No.1, but I have to work hard. I have the ability but I know the Premier League is hard.

"My first game could be against my first coach in Europe. Roberto Mancini brought me to Inter. They have done well but we have to believe we can beat them."

Absolutely, Manchester City are an inspiration to everyone that has ever been told "You're not good enough" or "You can't do it". They show that there is nothing, NOTHING that can't be accomplished, as long as you have £572 million to throw at a problem.

Dream on sweet dreamer...

Man, QPR are just spending left right centre. How much money they have? They might also get Granero from Madrid.

They will have a vrey good squad, but not a good team, that will take time.

'arry must be pining at the television screen, dreaming for the day he can fire up the motor again.

CPR have big ambitions. Their first team look pretty decent on paper. Alot of experience and winners.

wasn't this guy considered one of the best keepers in the world a couple of seasons ago...

what happened?

Have have QPR got him? To be honest at what, 32/33 if he does well in the Premiership then there is no reason he can't move to a bigger club like Van Der Sar did. What was his route, Ajax, Juve, Fulham and Manchester United. Depends how he does. He can't be any worse than Rob Green!!

His ability to deal with crosses is even worse than DeGea's and he is 32 with very little scope for improvement.

Think he could be our new VDS. Experienced keeper with strong personality. DDG is just too young to be a top class keeper.

De Gea maybe Young but his weak spots are exactly the same as Cesar's.

Cesar flaps at crosses even more actually. It'll be pointless.

He flapped against City. Almost ended up punching one into his own net!!!

He's similar to DDG, only 12 years older. Great shot stopper. Struggles under the high ball.

No thanks. I'd rather us stick to DDG.

He's a very good goalkeeper. VDS didn't exactly go through the best of times at Juve and Fulham, yet Fergie went and signed him and looked how it turned out. Sometimes players need a better club to perform to their very best or a challenge of winning trophies and playing in a better team if you like, and i rate him as one of the top in the world

I wouldn't have been against bringing Cessr in when VDS left, but now we've got DDG I'd rather we stuck with him, he's going to be immense. We knew he was going to take time and wasn't the finished article. Getting rid now would make the last two years a huge waste of time.

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar is set to be disciplined after donning a Chelsea shirt as he helped Brazilian compatriot David Luiz celebrate his 26th birthday.

Cesar wore the shirt of Rangers' fierce London rivals as he joined Luiz and other Stamford Bridge players for a party. His wife, Susana Werner, posted a picture of him in the shirt online.

QPR head of communications Ian Taylor wrote on Twitter: "The club is aware of an image of Julio Cesar circulating on social networking feeds.
"The image, which appeared on an instagram account, has since been deleted. The club will be dealing with this issue internally."

Is this a joke or what? How can they possibly discipline a player for that?

It doesn't look great does it, imagine United were on the brink of relegation and a picture of de Gea in a City kit emerged?

I remember the whole shabogle (made up a word) when Balotelli wore an AC Milan shirt when at Inter.

Goalkeeper issues statement …

The club is aware of an image of Julio Cesar circulating on social networking feeds today (Tuesday 23rd April).

The image, which appeared on an Instagram account, has since been deleted. The club will be dealing with this issue internally.

Julio has issued the following statement regarding the image:

“I would like to clarify that last night I attended David Luiz’s fancy dress birthday party and as a joke for my friend, my family and I dressed as him.

“I want to assure everyone that absolutely no offence was intended.”

The club will be making no further comment at this time.

His explanation is plausible, his daughter is wearing that stupid, Joe Cole-inspired sweat band that Luiz always wears.

What's the big deal anyway? Isn't Cesar one of the few QPR players that has actually earned his wages this year? Also, this is what happens when you attempt to build a club by hiring expensive mercenaries...

How big of rivals are QPR and Chelsea anyway? Its wouldn't be like a United player sporting a Liverpool shirt, probably more like if a United player wore an Arsenal shirt...rivals, but not the most bitter of rivalries. Hell, Silvestre wore an Arsenal shirt as a joke for a couple years, no one seemed to care. Van Persie is wearing a United kit for fun this year, Arsenal fans don't seem to find it too funny though

Brazil's national team goalkeeper Júlio César is close to joining Arsenal, according to reports in Italian press.

The former Flamengo goalkeeper plays for Queens Park Rangers, but he has already admitted he will probably leave the club following QPR's relegation to the English Championship.

Júlio César had previously been linked to AC Milan, but the Italian club dismissed the rumors, and Roma are also interested in signing him.

The goalkeeper is willing to remain in London, he believes that he needs to move to a big club to be on the spotlight and thus avoid being dropped from Brazil's national team.

He is now close to Arsenal, according to Italian news site TuttoMercatoWeb. The English club are offering him a 2-year contract, an annual salary of 4 million Euros.

The Italian site claims that Júlio César will say yes to Arsenal's offer soon. He is currently in Brazil as the national team are getting ready for the Confederations Cup

Would be a great signing in my book. Chesney has gotten too comfortable there.

Sensible signing. Fabianski needs to go somewhere he can be first choice and it'll keep Chezza up to the mark.

Finally Wenger signs a keeper. About 5 years too late.

I was amazed when QPR got him, because only a couple of years prior to that he was regarded as one of the best GKs in the world. This is a sensible move for Arsenal, and not just an average signing. Better than all their keepers by a long shot.
