Julian Draxler

I dont think, that United (or bayern) are going to buy him in the foreseeable future.
His last season was pretty average. He needs to show better performances else topclubs wont be interested. There was so much hype around him and he couldnt live up to that during the last year. He is slightly out of the public focus again, which might help him. Still making a big move after this season would be a big mistake.

I know that he played as winger for Schalke (at least most of the time), but he´ll never become a worldclass player on this postion. Sooner or later he´ll end up in a more central role. Van Gaal usually uses winger, that play wide and beat their man in 1v1s. Draxler can do that from time to time, but that isnt his strength. He is a bit like a more physical version of kagawa.

Would still love him to sign.

For anyone who has doubts - I successfully converted him into a bosspimp striker for my Arsenal side and for Germany in Fifa14.

He is? From what I have seen from Draxler they have pretty different skill sets to be honest. Kagawa shines in high movement set ups with his quick short passing link up play and has certainly better anticipation which makes him a superior pressing player. Draxler on the other hand holds onto the ball pretty well, has a fair amount of pace and good close control. Both have a certain directness in their game and probably work the best in counter based teams, though.

If I would have to name a player with a similar style it would actually be a fellow German: Marco Reus. Thing is that everything Draxler can do, Reus does on a higher level. Draxler could become a player of this level if he fulfills his full potential. He seriously needs to work on his decision making and become more consistent in his play, though. Right now even with his potential he is not worth the 45 Mil. € of his release clause IMO.

During the last 6 month Reus made another step forward and he is becoming a well rounded player. In due consideration of his whole career, he always has been a player, that excels on the counter/with space ahead of him. He never really shined when the opponents were sitting deep, in close space. (might be different in the future, if he continues his development of the last season).

Kagawa on the other side was always great in these situations. He is a fairly direct player too, but could also navigate through enemy lines with his 1-2s, his fast changes of direction and his close control. I think, that Draxler would show his best in a similar role; playing around the box and making runs in the box, where he can join the striker and finish/assist.

If we are going to sign a kid for a winger who will be ready after a couple of years of easing into the team then we absolutely will go for Memphis Depay and not Draxler

Besides Draxler will stay where he is until he is good enough to sign for Bayern 2 seasons from now where he'll eventually take over from Robben when he gets too old

I'd prefer Reus to Draxler, but I do really rate him. I think he'll be a top player and was pleased when the Arsenal rumours stopped - although Sanchez is probably a step up too.

He'll get a move sooner or later, probably to Bayern.

Draxler talks way too much about transfers for my liking. His last seaon has been pretty average, stagnation at best, yet he still talks like he's Götze.

A lot of talk about him moving last summer with Arsenal interested. Many people at the time said it would turn out to be a terrific signing and he will be one of the best in the world.

Seems that the hype has died down surrounding him, most likely due to a poor season last time. What level is he likely to end up at?

He prob had a major rise in his buyout clause which have caused Arsenal to back-off. Compared to Schurrle, he's overrated.

Draxler is 3 years younger though. ;)
He has the talent to become a player much better than Schürrle. He already showed how good he can be, will be interesting how he does for Schalke this year.

I think Draxler is extremely similar to Januzaj in that he isn't necessarily a natural winger and seems to struggle when he is asked to produce natural width. Their dribbling is great thoguh and somehow they get past their full backs quite often in the end anyhow. Januzaj is nowhere near Draxler though who has the 6th highest completed dribbles per game in Europe.

Yep he really seems to be Bayern bound already. An indication for this is that he said that he will not leave this summer whoever will make an offer. I think Bayern just told him to to play 1 more year for Schalke because his last season was not good enough yet. And next season he could have a better chance to get past Ribery since he seems to start declining due to his age.

Not sure where he is going to end up exactly. His last season was poor but he was injured for a long time. He will be a very good player for sure, maybe even world class. We'll see.

Everytime when i see him play (at least when he's playing well) he reminds me of Ronaldo. I think he really is this type of player. Athletic, fast, some nice tricks and a good finish.

Wenger had a hard-on for him but we weren't paying £37M or anything like it.

Rightly so. I get the impression (from the grand sum of feck all that I actually know about the situation), that Wenger's hard-on for him was a little too obvious, hence the way that massive price was suddenly being bandied about.

I doubt Draxler will sign for Bayern. He is another 10 like Götze and not as good as him. Most top clubs are already filled with world class 10s so I really don't know where he should go. If it weren't for the rivalry I definitely could see him replace Reus at Dortmund.

I feel that Draxler could be better than Gotze. I think if he brings his game together and applies all his attributes, then he will be better. He's got the physical edge over Gotze and is a better dribbler also. He's a bit like Bale in that when it all comes together, he could just explode into an attacking force. Still a way to go yet though.

i hate people saying he will end up at Bayern. The same is said about Reus. They wont go all there, surely we can get one of them if we want or lets say i hope that we have interest when they move.

Draxler mostly played as a left midfielder in the last few years at Schalke, I could definitely see him replacing Ribery in a few years.

draxler has a 45m clause. He has to perform on this level for a whole season before anyone reasonable would be willing to pay this money. He still has to prove a lot to justify that fee. He is also not bayern-bound at all. If any international top club is really interested in him and willing to pay the money, they´ll have a very good chance to sign him.

He reminds me of the German Barkley.

Most of his game is based around athleticism, but has good technique and can dribble great too. Add that all up and you get a pretty dangerous player.

If he can improve on his eye or goal he could be really good, but I agree I don't think he will fit Pep's Bayern.

To be honest I think he would be Mourinho's perfect number 10.

Yeah he played there but really wants to play as a 10 and it's also where you get the best out of him. I mean he is still good on the LW but he produced his world class performances when he came more through the middle.

Draxler is clearly a really talented player, but people on here tend to hype him far too much. His last season was awful and nowhere near the standard a player with his potential should be performing. He looked good against Chelsea yesterday, generally looked better in the CL over the last year and it sometimes seems to me, that he doesn't try hard enough in the normal games.

45 million is a lot of money and I can't see anyone paying that amount for him at the moment, based on his performances in the past year. He has to take the next step and become more influential and effective for Schalke.

Hadn't seen him against Chelsea, but wow. Not seen a player running past Chelsea players like that as long as I can remember. Goes back to what I said earlier, he's got the physical and the dribbling attributes to set him apart. Going off that display it seems he finally putting things together after a disappointing season last time out.

Unfortunately we no longer have space for him.

He's got the talent but the problem for him is he knows it in a massive way.

If he just got his head down and worked hard instead of believing he's already a superstar then he'd be absolutely incredible.

Is he feck on another level to them, unless we're talking a lower level.

I sure as hell hope that he means it like that .

Sometimes the Caf is a really funny place. One strong performance can transform a player into a superstar.

Even with his struggles with injuries, form, new team, system and role Mario Götze performed on a higher level in his first season at Bayern than Draxler managed to do consistently in any of his seasons at Schalke. This is what Draxler always struggled with: consistency. He is simply not reliable, especially as the kind of lead player he wants to be. He should stop talking about it and start doing it.

I´m not even doubting his talent, because that is clearly there. His attitude and mentality are a whole other topic, though.

I too see him as a Bale-like player. I really hoped Wenger would sign him.

He is 20 and has already over 100 Bundesliga games. CL and Pokal as well. Played in a CL semis, won a cup final and played in a WC semis and won the thing.
He isnt ready to be top top class every week but only 2 or 3 are each generation in such a young age.
Schalke had big struggles last year. Have Schalke friends. Overall they gave his season a green light.
We really shouldnt start talk of will and so on. You never stop such a thing, not even with the truth.
Dont know if my Bayern should buy him but man he is special.
