Doom-monger obsessed with Herrera & the M.E.N.
Presume he will be playing against Dortmund tomorrow so we can all do a bit of scouting.
Ok so let’s say you’re correct how is Kounde the answer to the “problems” Lindelof “causes”.
couldn’t be further from the truth.
Ok so you’re saying if we had a defender who wasn’t all out physical and was defending with rationale and skill that would be good?
So why the hell does everyone hate on Lindelof?
Essentially my point is Kounde isn’t the answer. He’s a good CB but no our solution
Is he though? Or is it just Lindelof is coming up against on average stronger opponents? He’s stronger than Lindelof, quicker than Lindelof and much better in one on one situation. His ball playing is also better, so not only he is the answer to Lindelof’s weakness but also an upgrade.
I agree it requires a bit of both. Kounde doesn’t have both yet.Being a top-class defender requires both, Carlos lacks one side and Lindelof the other, you see? Not that difficult.
Koundé is quicker and physically stronger than Lindelof and actually has some bottle. They aren't comparable.
He isIsn't this the guy city wanted over Dias?
Or am I thinking of someone else?
Keeping teams away from your goal is the best way to defend set pieces. The last thing we need to be doing is giving the opposition more incentive to exploit our aerial weaknesses. Granted, the only time I've seen this guy is in the SF against Sevilla last season, so I'm not really in a position to judge him.
La Liga is the perfect league for a player of his stature to paper over any aerial weaknesses. I'd be wary he would be targeted by the likes of Burnley etc. Once you have that target on your back, its not how you want to go into each game, knowing the opposition know exactly how to get at you.
Who is top of La Liga?Keeping teams away from your goal is the best way to defend set pieces.
keeping the ball is the best way to defend against any teams.
these 2 reasons are why we’ve struggled over the last few years as others have got better at it while we ignored it. We are getting there slowly but ole needs to stop worrying about fast counter attacks and we need to learn how to play a high line better.
players like Kounde are playing that exact game pressing game for sevilla right now, and they’ve had 7 clean sheets in the last few games in a row.
it’s no coincidence nobody good sits deep defensively.
Is he though? Or is it just Lindelof is coming up against on average stronger opponents?
I’ll give you quicker.
Better 1vs1 is subjective and also relative quality is an issue.
Ball playing better again I’m not sure passing wise unless you mean on the ball as in dribbling?
I don’t see him moving to United and being the solution I think it’s another press hype after a great solo goal.
Süle might be available.Surely can't be that hard to find a centerback that has at least normal pace, is tall enough/strong enough to handle himself in the air against forwards, and has at least average on the ball ability?
You’ll laugh but 8 and I don’t think you can make that guarantee.I have watched Kounde in 7 full matches this season, I can guarantee you he’s better ball playing, better one on one, and stronger. How many games have you watch Kounde this season?

I like Kounde I just don’t think he’s the solution for United.
Well he's not got a single post in the La Liga thread so I'd hazard a guess at [X]How many games have you watch Kounde this season? I’m not asking you whether you like or dislike him.
You provide nothing to counter my argument though, at least provide stats or something to prove me wrong.

I've been banging this drum for years now and i've dedicated numerous posts to the subject.Thank you. Our single biggest issue as a squad (contrary to popular belief about needing a striker) is the inability to play a high line confidently. There's a reason we looked so solid when Bailly was fit a while back because we could defend much more aggressively and higher up the pitch, which in turn means that even if our attack is off of it we are consistently pinning the opponent in and having more cracks at creating chances than a team who defends deeper might.
Most fans don't seem to understand this though and I can't for the life of me understand why, as it's the reason both Liverpool and City have been so dominant in recent years. City isn't hoarding possession like Barca in '11, but they win the ball back so quick and high up the pitch that it makes attacking relentless on the opposition until they break down.
I have watched Kounde in 7 full matches this season. How many games have you watch Kounde this season?
You obviously don't watch much of Atletico, they don't play defensively unless it's against teams they know they can't keep possession against.Who is top of La Liga?
You seem to watch every single team in the world an awful lot...You obviously don't watch much of Atletico, they don't play defensively unless it's against teams they know they can't keep possession against.
They are one of the most drilled teams on the planet though, and certainly the odd 1 out compared to the rest. Do you want us to play like Atletico?
So I have to post in the La Liga thread if I watch La Liga?Well he's not got a single post in the La Liga thread so I'd hazard a guess at [X]
Consider you've got no issue commenting in every other thread you clearly have some knowledge in, I find it unusual that your thirst for discussion doesn't extend to the relevant threads. In a word, yeah, I think you're chatting bollocks. So I have to post in the La Liga thread if I watch La Liga?
Does this mean I have to post in the Eredivise for AZ, Bundesliga for Leipzig/Dortmund, Ligue 1 for AS Monaco etc?
8 games.
Yes I watch a lot of football - for somebody who seems to have an opinion on everything and everybody I thought you'd do the sameYou seem to watch every single team in the world an awful lot...
No I don’t. But the point stands. Top teams can defend deep but I agree we should now be ready to play higher up the pitch (which we have done this season hence our better goalscoring record but worse defensive record)
It you absolutely must know I don’t go into those league threads because the chat is very sporadic and you get better discussion usually from individual player or transfer threads.Consider you've got no issue commenting in every other thread you clearly have some knowledge in, I find it unusual that your thirst for discussion doesn't extend to the relevant threads. Yes, I'd like a comprehensive analysis and post mortem report on all those games. I want it written and on my desk by this afternoon, and I don't accept any excuses like "your dog ate it".It you absolutely must know I don’t go into those league threads because the chat is very sporadic and you get better discussion usually from individual player or transfer threads.
If you would like me to discuss in the La Liga thread and this is an invite I’m more than happy to do so but it’s not active enough for my liking.
Im sad enough to like chatting about football on RedCafe but not sad enough to lie about who I do or do not watch.
Would you like me to list the games

I hate all the stats that appear on here. Probably because I haven't a clue what they are talking about, or the stats look OK and someone on here is trying to tell us actually they are terrible.Yeah we can have all the Caf scouts running their expert eyes over him.
In reality they will check stats websites / Fifa21 to form an opinion and freak out over his 5'10 frame.
Milenkovic?I'm really not that keen on him... and it's purely because of height. Surely can't be that hard to find a centerback that has at least normal pace, is tall enough/strong enough to handle himself in the air against forwards, and has at least average on the ball ability?
That's not fair, we don't have players like Isco to add into a deal.Real Madrid are also strongly rumoured to be interested in him and are reported to be ready to offer fringe players like Isco and Diaz into the deal.

I've a strong suspicion they'll end up signing him. Their allure is too strong. That's not fair, we don't have players like Isco to add into a deal.
I do agree from the little i've seen off him he's strong and can be very aggressive if needs be. He also doesn't skip leg day with the size of those quads.Being dishonest just to console yourself in the argument is pointless, but either way, it doesn’t really matter whether you are honest or no because I believe the issue here is that you don’t understand the problem with our centre back. Think of why Lindelof and Maguire cannot work together not just focus on Lindelof alone. They both are not mobile centre back and passive, they are too similar as Lindelof strength doesn’t compliment Maguire’s weakness at all while Maguire strength doesn’t compliment Lindelof’s weakness apart from the physical strength and the aerial presence.
To put it in short, you can’t play those two together.
Kounde has pace and aggressiveness (not fully aggressive like Bailly but he still able to play both aggressive and passive CB and he also can commit towards the ball rather than wait like Lindelof/Maguire), these compliment Maguire’s weakness. On top of it, he is a better ball playing centre back than lindelof (not talking about dribble but ball distribution is playing more risky passes and long ball, check stats below) and he is physically stronger and more muscular than Lindelof (check pic below). If you watch him, you should know these. He’s very good with his one on one, he’s not just good in positioning and decision making but he also combine those with his pace to be better than Lindelof in one on one.
It does feel something of an inevitability, thankfully there's not a shortage on CB talent at the moment.I've a strong suspicion they'll end up signing him. Their allure is too strong.

PSG willing to pay his release clause apparently. We're not.
