Still not seeing it with him. He's obviously talented, but it's a bit tiresome to see all the talented young players getting overhyped and sold for crazy amount of money.

Agreed. Reminds me very much like Pogba and as we know. If you don’t have a plan for him it can go horribly wrong.

While with Pogba, he was insanely talented but had character issues. I think he is the type who a team like say West Ham could have built a team around resulting in them finishing ~5 spots higher in the standings over a decade.

If Bellingham played for West Ham, would he be game changer if he replaced say Soucek?

Would Bellingham turn into a more valuable player for Newcastle than Bruno Guimares?

With that said — if City sign Bellingham, and Pep works with him for 5 years, would he become a top player? I think so. I also think he fits like the hand in the glove for Liverpool.

But if we buy him, we better be prepared to do what Pep would have done the coming 5 years, because he isn’t a finished product.

Yeah that was shameful! Definitely see Stevie G written all over him. Although I don’t really remember Gerrard when he was a teenager. Was he that arrogant when he broke through?

I can't remember either, but Gerrard was a lot better (in my opinion) and had a more 'humble', hard-working style anyway. I know we like to give him stick, but he was a fantastic player from very early on.

I had similar reservations about Dele Alli and he turned out to be a nothing player. I'm not saying that Bellingham will, but he's a long way to go to convince me. If it was still possible to sign promising youngsters for £30m then I'd possibly take a punt. But not at the figures being mentioned.

I like his confidence. There's a fine line between that and arrogance and he looks like he's on the right side of it so far.

My post was a response to that post. The journo in question has been on the money regarding Tchouameni , Weghorst and many other stories in the last year. And I remember @mazhar13 mentioning him as someone worth taking notice of. I didn't agree at the time but the journo has been accurate on a number of stories of late.

But that doesn't mean that Bellingham will definitely join Madrid.
I used to think that Santi Aouna was a guesser, but he's one of the few surprisingly good journalists in Foot Mercato, which, without him (and Dahbia Hattabi) would be incredibly speculative. Still, the sort of info he gets tends to be more speculative than normal, so whilst we can put some stock into his reports, I'd rather wait for them to be corroborated to be safe. Still, it's good to know what he reports.

On Bellingham to Madrid, José Felix Díaz, who's great for Real Madrid reports, has consistently talked about how hard Real Madrid will push for Bellingham. He's very likely going to be their #1 target for the summer.

Agree Maz, Santi Aouna has definitely been much more reliable than I gave him credit for. But like always bro, you're spot on when it comes to providing clarity on sources and their reliability.

He’s played 91% of available minutes for 2 years straight

“No midfielder ranks higher than Bellingham’s 16.7 progressive passes per 100 touches, highlighting just how often he looks to get the ball forward.

Meanwhile, Bellingham’s (possession-adjusted) 5.6 tackles and interceptions per 90 place him in the top five per cent of his peers — highlighting his defensive work rate — with an attacking contribution of 0.35 expected goals (xG) plus expected assists (xA) per 90 among the top 12 per cent of midfielders across Europe.

Combine those traits and we can visualise just how versatile Bellingham’s skill set is.

Particularly as Edin Terzic has rotated between a 4-2-3-1, a 4-3-3 and a 4-1-4-1 system at Dortmund this season, Bellingham has showcased his versatility to play as a No 4, No 8 and No10 — a “Jude of all trades”, if you will.”

It’s not nailed on Liverpool. His dad met Madrid last week.

He’s liked Sancho & Rashfords previous media posts in the past. Trent’s an England colleague don’t forget.

Money won’t dictate where the boy goes. Remember, he turned down a fortune to leave Birmingham before signing his pro deal. £250k Birmingham would have got, and Jude would have been £10mill richer himself in a hefty sign on bonus.

How many boys would turn that down?

If he is smart about his next move, it absolutely can’t be Liverpool. Their future is so uncertain now with so much of a rebuild to do and no money to do it.

The glamour of Madrid obviously appeals, but you can very easily lose control of your career there and find yourself out of the team and I think he wants to play.

It’s United that has the stability of a new coach with a fresh project, probable CL football and a ready made role in an improving team. A proper club where he would have the chance to make a real difference and not just be another face in the crowd.

And if United bosses do their job, why wouldn’t he join? Utd is a huge club on an upwards trajectory, about to be state owned.

What worries me, is many Utd fans slating him as they think he’s nailed on Liverpool. That’s not true. I want you lot to ‘want’ this boy. And make him feel wanted. His whole attitude is a fit for you guys.

Him and his dad would be mental to turn down madrid. Go there and within a season or two Mbappe will be joining you. The young core of that squad isnt anywhere near its peak, there are multiple CL trophies potentially within that group. You'd want to be part of that.

Wrong time to join liverpool, as they need a substancial rebuild.

Isn't the Dortmund to a huge club route an even bigger money earner if everything works out?

I've always asummed that's a big part of the reason it happens.

I wonder how many on here see him play regularly. He's been really shit for a while now in my opinion. Invisible against Chelsea and was probably the worst Dortmund player against Schalke, losing the ball completely unnecessarily before their first goal. For the quoted prices, I'd stay away from him. He's also not a good fit for Ten Hag's football and a bit similar to Bruno as a player with his habit of playing hero ball. Great talent but highly overrated both in Germany and England.

I really really want him and he's obviously worth big money but not the amounts being talked about. 150m transfer fee means what, 20M a year in wages? More? Too much for a midfielder. Would be one thing if we didn't have Fede, Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouamodric, but we do, so...

Came across a right price laughing at our defeat to scousers,so go there for that

I’m personally happy at never buying Dortmund players after Kagawa and Sancho.

Overpriced English player… do not want!! Plz stay away especially at that price point!

Not sure who out there is the best option for ten hag really. I think we need a press resistant deep playmaker in midfield. That's not Bellingham. He is class of course, but that's not him. No idea what our funds will be like either. Long term I always saw Bellingham as an attacking box to box if anything.

There’s no way we’re signing both Bellingham and Osimhen. You talking around £230m on those two alone and we’re already at the limit of what we can spend under FFP. Unless we’ve got new owners by then and shift a load of players off the books then this is just unrealistic.

If it’s true and we’re still targeting a top striker then it looks as if we’re already spending takeover money

If we get new owners and the debt is gone its no issue. Our club generates more than enough on its own.

We are not at the limit of FFP rules. In fact the article that started that nonsense stated these two signings would be the limit if we got CL football in the bag. Any more and we would need to sell which we would be doing anyway

Fair enough. I’m just going off what’s been said that even with new owners we wouldn’t be going on a spending spree as we fear breaching FFP. I think it’s more to do with the fact we still owe around £250m on previous transfers so have to clear a lot off the books to bring more in. If this isn’t the case then we’re laughing if the Qatari’s complete the takeover.

would absolutely love him here but cant help but think he fancies himself elsewhere. not sure he's the biggest fan of ours

But the 300m is already on the books so it’s already factored in.
My rule of thumb is if a story like this dies away without much fanfare then it was a non story to begin with. I don’t know how true that can be but United in FFP trouble would be plastered everywhere if there was a hint of truth to it.

Don’t want at that price, overhyped, German league has proven to be easy to pad your stats so for me he’s still unproven to a degree.

Actually thats a smart choice, its not that hard to turn down if the player has belief in himself.

Dortmund is the probably the best place for young players to develop their game, and the best stepping stone for future big moves to bigger club/bigger fortune in future.
