Jude Bellingham | Signed for Madrid

I don’t see us being after him anymore. Think he was a club signing due to the superstar factor, and Ten Hag will likely find us someone who’s a better fit for us anyway playing in the Dutch second division for about 7m.

Great player, but nooooooo. Why spending too much money? Yes he is great, but we could two get borderline great players for the same amount of money. 60 mill. Stiker, 60 mill. CM and 60 mill. DM = 180 €

arguably the best young box to box CM in the world next to the madrid tandem....i just don't see us blowing our entire budget on one player that is NOT a goal scorer

would be extremely surprised if Old Trafford became his destination in the summer not b/c EtH doesn't admire him but simply due to the absolute need for a goal scorer not named Rashford

Good point.
But if Jude’s coming, who’s place will he be getting into? Casemiro is umdroppable. So it’ll be Eriksen. Will he be happy with it? I guess we can’t keep everyone happy if we really want to turn this side to title winners.

Eriksen would also be in rotation with Bruno higher up the pitch. Considering the Dane is sometimes struggling with (his lack of) pace and strength in a deeper role, I would welcome that. And he could of course still play as a CM if needed. The problem is that Bruno plays every match. But perhaps we would get even more out of Bruno if EtH convinced him that he doesn't have to play 90 minutes against League Two sides in the Carabao Cup etc. If EtH can do what Sir Alex somehow managed to do and keep everyone happy, it'd be nice to finally have proper squad depth in the midfield positions. And as long as we keep winning, I can see Eriksen being happy with a bit less playing time.

Our ownership will not be sorted in time, Bellingham will have decided his future before we are in a position to enter the race.

He wasn't anywhere near a superstar when we gave him the full VIP treatment to try to sign him from Birmingham tbf

It really depends on how both markets shape up. There's a real possibility Levy is a cnut with Kane and Osimhen basically isn't available if Napoli continue dominating. At that point you have to pivot and get Jude/FDJ and get more creative for the forward position. In a situation like that I could easily see us shelling out for Jude.

Yeah he was just a hot young prospect that we were hugely interested in.

The better question is if Liverpool loved him so much and he loved them, why weren't they copying us and trying to get him from Birmingham as well? That actually would have been a dynamite signing and Klopp has shown he'll play teenagers in his midfield if they have the legs.

Great talent but not the be-all and end-all plus I only want players who are desperate to come here. Casemiro, Martinez, Antony, Weghorst all in different ways showed a great desire to make the move happen.

well i'd add to that then.....if you're going to pivot and put a big chunk of your budget down on say Jude. I'd want to see just how much a guy like Ramos would cost from Benfica. I know he's got a massive release clause of like 120m i believe but would there be wiggle room. If not...the one true wiggle room type of player you could get is Kudus who can play that false 9 which might allow you the chance to buy Jude.

I can’t see anyone spending 150m on him in the summer. I don’t think I’d want us too either, he’s good but im sure the English tax is massively inflating his price tag and we can probably get a top class European midfielder for half the price, if anyone will know someone it’ll be ETH

I believe he is an AM in a CM body. As an AM/10 he is worth the money long term but not as a CM.

Because the new owners want to make a statement, and he is seen as a good long term investment. That and a striker with some money ball signings.

New owners are gonna splash big, and two of those are very realistic.

This is huge for Bruno and ETH, Bellingham can also lighten the load in that part of midfield. And if Bruno is also gonna be RW he should be able to rest more

Eriksen
Bellingham-Casemiro is enough to rest Bruno

A lot of teams have to make statements this summer… look at city, Liverpool, even arsenal if they want to cement themselves up there. And last but not least us, don’t think De Jong saga will happen and if the club sense it’s another prolong thing we should walk.

We can make moneyball signings on RB and a new CB but truly we need very strong ones in CM and Striker

Not that bothered right now for that kind of money. It’s too much. And I do think he’s a great player.

Unless he goes to Spain, we’ll probably have the Jude merry go round every three or four years, as no way he stays at one club from 19 for the rest of his career.

if we are to pay £100m+ for him, I’d actually rather it be for the 26-31 years after he’s done it all at Madrid and wanting a new challenge.

A bit like Ronaldo in reverse.

If he is truly up for coming here I would be welcome him with open arms, but if we are back to this persuading him to come to Utd nonsense then he can do one. Also like the previous post, Dortmund thing does make me wary.

His old man is a Liverpool fan. He won't end up here. Don't think we should be spending 120m + on a single player either. Those big deals never work out for us.

This doesn't mean anything.

Weren't we in for him before and he chose to go to Germany?

There's strong rumours that he's still keen to join them lot in summer even if they don't finish 4th.

I'm not overly fussed. He's a great talent but I'm not comfortable with spending over 100m on him given our budget this summer is not going to be amazing. We need to save all we have for a ST.

Imagine genuinely thinking who his dad supports actually matters  he may go there (be a bit bonkers right now) but it'll have bugger all to do with that.

Gee I am shocked! Because they’ve never ever done that to any other player, ever!
Anyone signing for these kinds of clubs who has serious career ambitions (goes for joining the likes of Tottenham too) has to be agreeing release clauses in their contract - ala Haaland at BD - to come into effect within 2nd/ 3rd year even if it costs them 10% reduced starting wage.

It's definitely a silly price tag but on the other hand you can see the logic behind their thinking. If Chelsea paid what they did for Enzo Fernández, then surely it cannot hurt for them to see if they can negotiate a 120, 130 mill deal for Bellingham

Are we due for another donation to the Dortmund foundation next season or is it the one after??

150 is complete insanity but he’s the best young midfielder walking the planet. He can do everything and play any midfield role outside of a defensive 6. The timing and weight on some of his passes are absolutely breathtaking.

Same hype surrounding Sancho. I'd be careful about giving Dortmund crazy amount of money when we still need other positions to fill.

Bellingham has looked mighty impressive on the world stage at the World Cup as well as bossing it for Dortmund. I don't really recall Sancho doing that for England before we signed him.

I think European clubs have cottoned on to the opportunity of bringing in young English talent and then selling them back to the Premier League for enormously inflated sums 2-3 years later. When a deal works has well as Bellingham has for Dortmund, they will always seek insane money to complete a deal because they know how much money is floating around the Premier League.

What might frustrate Bellingham's camp is the attachment of a Premier League tax to the asking price will chase Real Madrid away in a hurry.

Wasn't too impressed with his play when coming back to receive the ball during the WC. Very frustrating seeing him pass it back to CBs on the half turn when he could pass forwards into space or take on his man. Something Frenkie is insane at.

Anything’s possible these days but I have a really hard time envisioning any club coughing up 150 million for him. He’s right to not be happy with Dortmund if true

As a Scotsman I often laugh at his overhyped some young English players are. I think Rice is in this category, Grealish too. Of the England squad at present there are 4 great players, Saka, Rashford, Kane and Bellingham.
Bellingham is an athlete, he has strength, can run with the ball, shoot, tackle, reads the game. I’d love to see him learning from Casimero. McTominay can go to Everton or something.

Naming a bridge after him? Already? Seriously? What on earth has he done to justify this?

yeah thats weird. I kinda got the shirt retirement thing. He had the opportunity to leave for £250k compensation and get a massive sign on bonus but signed a contract and forced Dortmund to pay a transfer fee to Birmingham while they were near administration so its a nice mutual gesture, but this is a bit far at this stage in his career.

Bellingham and Casemiro…

which midfield pairing would have a chance against that? Seriously..

It’d be insane
