You were going to get on the piss and try and get a shag on freshers; not be in the face of the public for the biggest club in England and have every move you make hyper-analysed
It doesn't matter what I specifically wanted to do. It's basic part of growing up that most teenagers want to leave the nest.

'Empty nest syndrome' wouldn't be a thing if it wasn't a thing.

Things.

It absolutely does mate, but alright.

What I specifically wanted to do with my life absolutely does not have relevance to what Jude Bellingham wants to do.

What is relevant is that most teenagers want independence as they get older. What they specifically do with that independence is up to them.

You don't have to party and drink to want that. Just look at the lifestyles of any number of footballers for proof.

Growing up in the Birmingham area, my nephew has played against Bellingham a few times over the years and claims he's the best he has ever seen at that level. He's still relatively young so perhaps not the most reliable scout but he's adamant that this kid will be something special.
If you play enough at that age you can still tell. My friend was at QPR with Raheem when he was about 16 and would come into school every day saying ‘this player will be one of the best in the world’. You play against a lot of players and can tell some are good, some are great, but then there are ones that make you question why you’re even trying to be a footballer they’re so good.

I would put Gomes in that camp. Gomes dominated the u18s at age 16, and he's very technically gifted. Gomes won player of the tournament at the MTU Hallencup and also player of the tournament at the Manchester United Premier Cup (Nike Premier Cup). That's a very prestigious youth tournament.

Damn! Why can't Gomes show any of this in first team yet?!

If we signed him what is the best way to develop him ? On the one hand he is playing football now and might not want to take a step back... In the other hand, playing football this young isn't always good, could we bring him in and out him into reserves , train with first team , play the odd game for next year & more the year after that, greenwood kind of minutes ?

I know nothing about him. But 51.7% passing accuracy today suggests that he's not ready for the PL any time soon.

I played against Robbie Brady as a teen and he completely obliterated us single handedly, when you're playing against Premier League quality players you are made painfully aware of it

Would be great to continue investing for the future. Being 16 and playing well in the Championship is very rare.

Castles is saying that Birmingham want a 18 months loan back.

I think a 18 month loan at Birmingham would take him to 18 years of age and would suit everyone.

Pogba was talented but inconsistent. Ravel was outrageously good at that level. He was the best player in the u18s when he was 15 and it wasn't even close. In over 20 years watching the academy only Greenwood has been as good imo.
Agree. Mason was the most consistent player in the academy I've ever seen, he basically scored every game.
But in terms of raw talent Ravel is just something else. He did things no one could replicate.

It is the best decision for everyone. This one looks to be very ideal for all parties.

I really want this one done. Also, will the money come from the academy budget, or from the first team one ??

I have no idea how these deals are structured... but if possible, I would like a deal where they get him on loan for 18 months.. with us having an option to cut that short to 6 months (ie, bring him in the summer) and pay an extra amount..

That way, if we feel he is ready in 6 months to join the first team, and dont want to buy a backup.. we can just get him in.

I can't say for sure but I would think it will come from the Academy budget.

I really hope we get this done too and we might even see him on the summer tour before he heads back to Birmingham.

Do it Woodward. Works for all parties, and it sets us up for the next generation (Greenwood, Williams, Laird). Now if only Sancho would follow suit we would have the best English talent from the 2000, 2001, and 2003 generations.

Don't quite see it with this kid. He looks like he's physically mature for his age which allows him to get playing time but the comparisons with Pogba seem way off the mark. The difference in technique even at the same age is huge. He seems to have really shit balance and is always falling to the ground. Obviously has decent potential but I'd feel hesitant.

Everyone in football seems to disagree with you but you could be right, I guess.

Think the balance thing is him growing into his adult body, if you look at this vid of him when he was younger his balance is excellent. Once his muscles fill out to his growing frame I think he’ll move on from the bambi stage.

Surely 16 year olds can't sign long term contracts (5 years) I'm pretty sure 3 years is the longest, so signing him for 25m and letting Birmingham have him for half the length of his contract would be unwise - unless I'm completely wrong on child contract laws?

Signing him now and loaning him back for 18 months would be brilliant, perfect situation I think. Really hope we get it done.
Hope there’s something in this. Watched the highlights of his game yesterday and he looks a real talent.
Unlucky not to score with a good volley though it was an outstanding save

Federer is the best tennis player I have ever seen and I will still think that if Nadal and Djokovic end up winning more majors because he just looks so natural playing tennis.
I just love naturals in their sport and Ravel had that at a young age but just lost the plot.....so sad.
