He is really really good. Think where people say he’s overrated is them comparing him to someone like Pedri. That’s not his game. He is better than Camavinga, but not Tchoumeni (although again slightly different players). Jude does everything well. As long as he keeps developing, the key for him will be becoming really good at one of those things while staying very good at everything else. That would turn him into a premium CM.

Can already picture that he'll do bits for Citeh/Liverpool for the next 5+ years starting next summer and all the overrated shouts will become 'ffs why didn't we get him??'

I think this is an important point. He's played 160 career games for club and Country, a total you'd usually see for someone a few years his senior (Lampard for example was 22 when he had a similar amount of senior games at club level and 25 for England).
Developmental leaps happen somewhat randomly and there's a chance he's already experienced the majority of his development even though he's only 19, given the amount of games he'd played. Assuming he will continue to develop at the same pace or at the pace of later bloomers would be naive (which is a testament to his ability now).
Pogba for example arguably experienced his best club season 14/15 when he was 21 and didn’t develop any further. People expected him to grow into one of the most complete midfielders of his generation based on his potential at 19-21 but it never materialised.
I certainly wouldn't be spending £120m on him along with a contract worth £100m though.

If we come up with any more generational talents then we are going to have to redefine the word.

I can’t believe the negativity in here, he is an incredible talent. I don’t know what some people expect with a midfielder but this kid has it all. Who ever signs him will no doubt be taken to the cleaners, he may take a while to settle in but he will be a great player for them for a long time.
Quality player but don’t think he’s what we need at the minute. We need to prioritise striker and GK.
I think Liverpool will most likely sign him tbh. There crying out for quality in midfield and they’ve waited for him. Couldn’t get him this season as Dortmund already sold haaland.
We can't afford an overpriced Bellingham. We have other priorities. Would rather develop Mainoo, who looks more talented.
Is his talent as clear as Rooney's was at a younger age? Is he only a systems player like Sancho (who I do rate)? For the money being quoted, is he the stand out he should be?

He's a better version of Mason Mount who is being miscast because he's mobile and tenacious enough to play deeper. BvB gets away with it by plain not caring about balance and having a good defence. For England, it's greatly limiting his qualities
I'm surprised at all the negativity around him, he was good yesterday. The issue for about 60mns of the game was that there was very little cohesion between midfield and attack, with Kane and Foden being greatly isolated. That was partly due to the set-up and the way England approached the game. As soon as the game became a bit more free flowing, with a higher line, and players closer to each other, he was able to demonstrate how devastating he can be. I think he's a good foil to Rice as well, so I hope they start together at the WC but with a player in front of them (enough of this ridiculous back 5) to provide some connection between midfield and attack.

Not entirely sure about the Mount comparison but I also don't think he's a central midfielder. I think he's going to be a bit of a tactical conundrum for a side who signs him expecting a proper no.8.

I don't think there is negativity around him - everybody agrees he looks a good player - the issue is that we have people thinking he is worth over £100 million - some even saying way more than that. In that context you would expect a world class leading player in his position and one of the best players in the world. He is miles away from that - I also do not believe he will ever become a player of that stature personally.
So the new Steven Gerrard?
Put him in a 4-3-3 with Rice and a fit Jordan Henderson/Phillips and he would excel.

I think it's silly to assume that a 19 year old won't develop further, linear or not. His fundamentals are incredibly polished, but there's a ton of improvement still in experience and physical ability alone.
He is 19, clearly a superb talent but in no way the finished product. Even for Dortmund you can see how inconsistent he is at times. I have no doubt he will be a great box to box midfielder in the future but isn't quite there yet.
Yeah it's lazy. More to point out that his best qualities emerge in the final third/inside the box. So you can either play him in a double pivot with attacking freedom and live with the defensive imbalance, like BvB do, or you ask him to be more subdued and keep his positioning and lose his best qualities, like England

I watched bits and pieces of the england games and I am impressed, a great fighting spirit. Looks like the right mentalit, trying to make things happen, taking initiative.
I'm not sure what type of midfielder he is yet. He can do a bit of everything but it feels like he's not fully developed his identity. But then again he's only 19 so I think he gets a bit of a pass. You can probably just do whatever you like with Dortmund as they've always been quite aggressive. But I think eventually at a top club and under a top manager he will be refined into a more effective player.

Modric and Kroos won't be there within 2 years, when he's 21, and Valverde is a Swiss army knife player who can play in defence or attack too.
He'll get a chance if he joins them. He's also been a long term obsession of Florentino Perez the same way Bale was. They briefed over the summer that Tchouameni would be their only signing, not including frees, as they have their sights set on Bellingham next summer.
Tchouameni, Camavinga exist too. Bellingham isn't the type to dictate a game, so he won't replace Kroos. They will have to play something like Tchouameni, New Playmaker, Valverde / Camavinga / Bellingham.
Or DLP (Rodri / Alonso types), Bellingham, Camavinga.
