Kinell, what a player. Silva took one year to settle but he has just settled in flawlessly and looked a class apart from the rest of his team-mates.

Chelsea did well to bring in a player better than all of their other players for a good price.

Better than Silva.... yeah I went there

Chelsea have to be grateful to be this man. The pass he picked out for Chelsea's third was just perfect. He's been the one constant for them and I dont remember him having a poor performance for chelsea. I know other players will get praise but Mata really deserves most if not all. His movement, eye for a pass and just sheer ingenuity does it for me. Top player and he's still like what? 23? 24?

He's my signing of the season.

He looks like a baby with a drawn on beard, but he's class. fecking Spanish and their everlasting lazarus pit of midfielders.

He looks like AVB's son. Nepotism, but the good kind because he can play.

Weird that, I thought Drogba was the best player on the pitch.

Certainly didn't think Mata had a great game tonight, he was good but he's played better in a Chelsea shirt a few times this season.

Not seen enough of him to form a solid opinion. He looks very good but I don't know how consistent he is over 90 minutes. His touch before setting up the first goal tonight was fantastic, but overall Drogba's performance overshadowed him.

He is their sole creative outlet at the moment it seems. Their midfield would be a shit load better with someone who can hold the ball and feed Mata i.e Modric.

Shit David Silva
He's just a shit David Silva
Shit David Silllllvvvvaaaaaa

But he's still very good. :(

Everytime I was him play or read his name I cry a little more. How the feck did we feck this signing up?

He's been their best player this season no doubt. There's been plenty of times when he's really struggled to get himself into a few of their games but then the team performances haven't exactly been great.

As for better than Silva? No chance.

Of course - Fabregas, Scholes, Vieira, Gascoigne, Keane, Souness, Hudson, Brady, Hoddle - midfield monsters - no fungus.

Scholes and Keane regularly had a bit of the old stubble going on.

We all have our examples of 'the one who got away' - Chelsea being extremely close to getting Pato and Aguero in the last few years.

The worst one for you in recent years is probably Petr Cech.

Couple of days without shaving and sex to get the dander up - not a full Bluebeard.

Huh? He's one of the good players in the premier league. Nothing to be in total awe about like some on this thread and luckily these characters are rightly balanced out by voices of reason who see him for what he is.

A good player, nothing more or less.

Mata is the kind of player we need to be honest.

I said it when they signed him; he's a technical marvel. Not many players can better him in that respect.

I disagree.

I'm not saying I'd turn my nose up at him but we already have a number of quality players in the final third.

It's his compatriot, Javi Martinez, that we should be looking at.

I wasn't talking about this match, I was talking about the season in general.

Maybe Martinez performed above his level in the u21s because apparently he's not been so good for Bilbao this season.

Maybe the reason of that is that he has been played in the central defense by Biesla. If we ever sign a player from Bilbao, we should make a double swoop of Martinez and Muniain.

I think the Martinez in central defence is a different bloke.

Their are two Martinez in the La Liga(There might be more, but for this argument's sake). One is Inigo Martinez who is a central defender and plays for Real Sociedad(the one who scored the goal from halfline) and the other is Javi Martinez(The muppet signing) who was impressive in the U21 and played as a midfielder there, however this season he has been used as a central defender by Athletic Bilbao by their new manager.

All I'm saying is isn't it better to see if he carries on his form outside of that 5/6-game tournament that he excelled in? Obviously he impressed before but there's a number of Spanish newbies who seem to be of the opinion that he's just not seen as all that in Spain (in Catalunya or central Spain) which is hugely different to the general opinion on here that he's the one. Youth tournaments, especially ones when you're in the standout side, can be misleading.

Munain looks the business though.

Chelsea's best wide player. Chelsea's best central creative player.

There's more to come from him though as he hasnt scored as many as he consistantly got for Valencia.

When he's also getting 10-12 goals a season on top of all his assists you'll see his true worth as a final third player. But yes he's been brilliant for Chelsea so far
