Playing Mata away at teams like Stoke isn't the best idea. Even if we ignore his own goal and his awful miss, he's been dominated physically and is barely doing anything useful with the ball.

This.

Mourinho's tendency to use bigger, tougher bods, against bigger, tougher bods has played out throughout or winning run. Then he chooses to ditch it when we're away at Stoke?

For all that Mata should've equalised. Awful miss.

Bad miss and unfortunate touch for the OG.

Think he's played decent aside from those two moments.

Been saying this for year, Mata is not good enough to start for a team that aspires to be up there with the best. He is a descent player but way to limited to be a starter for a team like United.

Not his best game by any means, could have redeemed himself if he scored that.

Saying that, I don't think he is at fault for OG much more than anyone else really, our positioning and lack of agression during their attack was really annoying. I was even surprised de Gea conceeded that.

What an awful game. Did nothing right all match. If that was Fellaini having that game, there we be no end of it.

Nearly lost because of him, awful performance, won't be seeing him for a while.

1 bad game! He's been our best player this season, and apart from that miss, he was ok

It's time to be ruthless. I don't give a shit if he's been our best player, when you feck up a game for the win then you deserve to be dropped.

How can you keep expecting a player who keeps coming from the bench to have a great game straight away? It's ok for him to have a bad game after helping United from the bench in recent times.

He will get slated but he wasn't that bad. Missed a difficult chance with the ball bobbling all over the place and was unlucky to score an own goal from a deflection. Apart from the he played as well as anyone else.

So, would you be ok if we drop say Ibra next game as he was largely ineffective, didn't shoot when he would have scored; or no Pogba today as he was atrocious last week?

Knives all out for Mata. I see we've moved on from Blind, Lingard, Rashford and Pogba and have found a new whipping boy.

Well Ibrahimovic didn't concede an own goal, nor did he miss the easiest chance we've had this season, so no.

Best player this season? What are you on?
Oh please, he has been THE BEST PLAYER for us this season. I may accept a case being made for Ander but anyone else NO

You do realise the own goal wasn't his fault! And Zlatan didn't shoot when that was 1v1! He didn't take the chance that was offered to him, which makes it equally bad as that

You sound like we would win the game easily if it wasn't for him.

We showed nothing before that goal, and our other players had some poor misses, but yes, he fecked up a game for the win.

Sometimes we throw players together who just don't work. Mata, Zlatan and Fellaini operating close to each other doesn't work. They might have an individual moment of quality but as a unit it makes no sense.

I'm a big Mata fan but you can't just play him with anyone.

He's been nowhere near our best player, De Gea, Valencia, Rojo, Jones, Zlatan, Herrera and Pogba have all been way better than him this season.
He is a very limited player, cant dribble, can't run, can't defend and takes way to many touches. If we had a proper right winger to play instead of him we'd be much higher up in the table.

Won't give pace but hasn't Mata and Zlatan together worked well for us? I seem to remember that. And I want pace with our wingers so if Mata play he should be central.

The goal was his fault because the opportunity came when Mata switched off and was too late to track his runner.

I don't know about Chelsea but at United Juan has had these type of games from time to time. They bring his m overall contribution into disrepute and you can see how a manager might just lose a bit of trust in him. Should never be the case really considering his stats in England.

Did he concede an own goal in the same match?
What has that got to do with the point you made about him missing our easiest chance of the season. Ibra should have hit the target at least a couple of times today with his chances. Yes Mata missed a golden opportunity but sometimes these things happen.

Strange thing to say considering he's rescued us a lot of points this season.

In others you may even present a decent case, although none have been better than Juan this season, but Dave, No! Not even close. Rojo and Jones have played much lesser games so those shouldnt even be in contention. Pogba apart from the run and a couple of games earlier hasnt been better; Zlatan- far too many misses, and even though he has 14 goals(?) this season, he went on a 6-7 game drought, which for a striker is absolutely poor

He scored an own goal and missed a great chance, two things he rarely does, yet somehow this is exactly why he doesn't start regularly for us?

Shouldn't be surprised at that total lack of logic given that some posters said the same thing that one time he got sent off but I kinda am.
