I still think he's by far the best finisher in the team, every change he gets I fancy him to score. World class technique.

Another game-changing performance. 'Clutch' is definitely a great word to describe him.

He's quietly brilliant. Even when he doesn't start he's such a great player to have around the squad.

He's ideal against compact defences and teams we're going to dominate.

It's impossible not to love Mata. He's so talented yet plays the impact sub role with minimal moaning. Twice in three days he's come on and made a massive difference. Simply marvellous.

An incredible finisher, seems to always hit the target.

A firm favourite of mine and needs to be a regular in the team. Not a guarenteed starter but I'd start him for home and maybe away against games against teams outside the top 6.

#hugs

I love love love our little Spaniard. I'm so torn because I want him to be in the starting line-up every game but at the same time, I don't know where he could fit and who we should drop for.

For sure he'll start against Reading and Hull, though, so another reason to look forward to the cup games.

One game will be enough for moaners to say he is not good enough, that's how it goes with Mata. We wouldn't won more than 2 points in last two games without him.

Martial, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Mata, Lingard - that's actually very good options even for a top team, when on form Martial is world class so is Mkh, Rashford quite easily changed the game and is 19!, Mata the same, experienced player giving us something else and than Jesse Lingard who is geat squad option, even today he should have scored:lol:

but Juanito is our best finisher in the team, you know that he will time his run well and makes ALWAYS good impact with the ball hit the goal and away from keeper.. only little bit sad that he can't start more games as he's brilliant as a person but if he could take this role and Jose "guaranteed" him to start like 20-30 games plus subs in the season. I believe Jose knows how valuable he's now so hopefully Juan doesn't seek more gametime elsewhere. I think he can win here premier league..

Such a classy and intelligent player. You knew chance were abound with him running about in all the attacking spaces.

Made a difference again after coming on from the bench

If Rooney wasn't injured he probably would have been the go-to substitute in the past two matches. Hopefully Mata's impact has given Mourinho more to think about.

Love him. Hardly ever misses from that position as well.

Looking at the stats further up the page sums it up really. He has a huge impact on how the team plays and is a real creative force for us and is probably one of the best finishers at the club and he's not even a striker.

Not only did he score the opening goal, he also played a part in Zlatan's goal by blocking the assistant referee's view :D

He made that finish look so easy. Perfect movement to get into that position and perfect placement for that finish. Its so good to have him whether its starting or as a sub.

He's the classic scholes kind of player who is so instinctive positional wise in that box, him and scholes are identical in ghosting inside that box without any defender picking him out, even the celebrations are almost the same. And it shows Jose rates this player, seems like he purposely sold mata so he could have him at united LOL

Has he been our most consistent player post Fergie days? His output has not fluctuated much under the 3 different managers we've had.

On course for double figures in goals again for the 3rd season running. And for most of that time we've been a bit of a shambles, it's a great achievement.

His productivity is outstanding and I think he's the best finisher at the club.

He is the best passer and creator in final 3rd as well for us especially when the game is so tight. He can always keep the ball and finds gaps for himself and others to have a pass on.

The rest of our offensive players are mostly runners. He is a bit different to them and it is good.

I love Mata... Always puts the stats up in terms of goals and assists.. Plus, I love his passion.. Always sense he loves being a part of Man Utd.

Class finish from the little magician.
Continues to deliver.
We are really benefitting from having Mata & Miki, the competition is driving them to produce consistently and I cant really remember the last game when one of them didn't.
Miki earned his starting spot, didn't perform tonight so in comes Juan...boom.

Edit...that's not to say they cant both start, love when that happens, just seems that Jose typically looks at one of them filling the right side position

@Squawka: Most goals & assists by midfielders in the Premier League since 2011/12:

David Silva (86)
Juan Mata (85)
Eden Hazard (82)
Yaya Toure (80)

And some of you think he should be a sub? :nono:

He's just become such a quality poacher. I like it when he comes off the bench against tired legs. It negates his lack of pace and ability to rinse his marker by having him pop up timely in the box to smash in goals. I think Jose is playing a blinder with him at the moment off the bench. Seems a man-management slam dunk to keep him happy with this role, he'll become a little ace in the back pocket for Jose down the stretch.

Clearly Jose places great faith in Mata... 2 games in a row, he's been his go too guy to sort the shit on the pitch out.

Must be the best finisher in the squad. You rarely see him miss. I am fine with him being an impact sub.
