Jose's interview - "Wish to sign 2 more players"

It seems Jose gets a hard-on when he buys a player aged 30 or around. No matter how much it costs he is willing to pay.
He loves age and experience above anything else, because he thinks they will make less mistakes. His approach is to prevent risks but does not think about opportunities

For example?

The age of players when bought.

Sanchez 29
Matic 29

Fred 25
Pogba 23
Bailly 22
Lindelof 23
Dalot 19
Lukaku 23

I'm not even gonna comment. people stating things like facts just to further their points/agenda.

There is also a list of players who he has failed to buy:

Persic -29
Willian-29
Toby-29
Bonucci-31
Mandzukic- 32

And you forgot Zlatan and Fellaini.

Wow, you really shut him about facts by stating a list of rumored targets(Perisic is real, apart from that though).

That's if you believe the media.

So basically, you can only add Zlatan (and Grant I guess) to that list.

Fellaini isn't a new signing.

All our those players would arguably provide valuable experience and leadership that this squad is severely lacking (apart from maybe Willian and Perisic who I don't blame the club for not getting, good but not great players who would cost a bomb). I see nothing wrong with him pursuing any of them, if he did.

Isn't it simply a case of when Jose wants a player, he wants him and will go to any length to bring them in? If he thinks a player will fit in, he seems to be fixated on that player.

When caught lying through your teeth, some will resort to referencing other people that have been caught lying through their teeth. It's unbelievable that someone would use rumoured targets as evidence of a manager favouring older players.

Mourinho clearly favours players in their early to mid twenties that can develop into top players in their prime under him. Its consistent at every team he's managed.

Even if these are confirmed targets, he was never gonna buy all 5. It would be one from Willian and Perisic and one from Toby and Bonucci to offset the youth already in the team.

We've also been linked with Rebic, Thiago, Maguire but that doesn't fit the narrative I suppose?

Com'on, we are basing our discussions on rumours now rather than the facts of what happened until now ? if we are, i can also cite rumours of Jose wanting younger players.

i was talking about players he has bought. Zlatan didn't cost us anything and we all knew that he was a stop gap for 1 year.

Fellaini isn't his signing. what was he supposed to do ? let him leave on a free when the board does not seem to want to spend a lot on signings ?

You can also add grant but he was signed as a 3rd keeper to allow Joel to go on loan. that's hardly a player that'll play a role in our team.

Don’t just wish it then Jose, go to Ed with your two top targets and your two back up choices and get it done as you’ll only fecking moan if nothing happens.

Sometimes I wonder if we are currently living in a world without tweets/social media, I wonder what these "supporters" will base their agenda on.

60m for Willian (who's 30 btw) just doesnt make sense. That is why Barca rightly stopped pushing.

He's actually still 29 albeit for only a few more weeks. In any case I do agree the price is crazy. But thats the price you pay for the finished article. We also linked with Perisic who is older than Willian. Jose loves his experienced players

Good point

Signed Romero when he was 28

Why he needs a 3rd choice keep of that experience level is beyond me. Romero will barely play as it is. Surely 3rd choice could be giving a kid a place on the bench
Because I think the third choice kid is going out on loan.

LVG signed him. We have maybe the best 2nd choice GK. VDS was a world class GK at 41 so what's the point here? It's almost impossible to develop as a 3rd choice GK for a young lad. Better loan him.

Romero was injured by the end of last season. Got fit again than his injury came back just before the world cup. It's merely precautionary. And Joel is going on loan, Jose talked about it and said that Grant is here to cover for Him.

And Zlatan...and Mkhitaryan

Lee Grant is a 3rd choice keeper who's hardly gonna have an impact on the team, if anything, it's against the 'Jose doesn't favor young' point because he's here to allow Joel to go on loan. Jose said that he'll be a Manchester united keeper one day. So believing in him fully.

Mkhi has been exchanged with Sanchez. If he stayed, Jose wouldn't have gotten Sanchez.

And Zlatan was a stop gap for a year for a free. Everybody knew that. He was here to give us time to buy a young attacker - - - > Lukaku.

Mhki is wedged in middle at 27.5, but arguably offset Sanchez, as only 2 months older.

Why is it so hard for the board to get the man what he wants ffs? Last year he wanted Persic and now he is talking about 2 more players! The board should support him.

No because they would not have a place on the bench being 3rd choice. Even backup keepers rarely get a game because first choice keepers are not prone to the amount of injuries or fatigue like outfield players.

It’s far better they get to play elsewhere for experience and staying sharp.

Yeah exactly, why would anyone want 3rd choice be anyone but a player of the profile of someone like Grant. He’s perfect for the position.

Young keepers need to be out playing.
