Jose's interview - "Wish to sign 2 more players"

Did you see the melt-down about the rumour of Baily going to chelsea?

The usual gang of melts did not realise that he was a Left-winger and it would shunt Martial out of the squad for good

They also did not realise that the article said that Willian is staying at Chelsea...

The just show their ignorance on top of a negative agenda to poison the well at any opportunity.
Bailey is the new flavor of the month although nobody mentioned him until 3 days ago.

I honestly wouldn't care if we got Rebic, at least we'd have another option there. Although, does he regularly play RW? anything i've watched is through the middle or on the left.

I think last season they PL teams told their squads that if players want to leave they must make their intentions clear before the deadline closes as they'll be no more sales after that. Think Barcelona might have been chasing Coutinho at that time and Liverpool just said absolutely no deal due to the window being closed.
I see. Still it's not so black and white in reality. Sometimes players are down the alternative list or some events force for the hand of other European clubs. They would make the approach late. For example Neymar transfer triggered domino effect for both Dembele and Coutinho late on. You can try to keep your player a little longer, but in those case, it did get to their head to certain extend, which defeats the purpose of all this.

One of the two signings must definitely be RW for the balance of our attack and our squad. I don't think we need another CB when we have more than we need in terms of numbers. Definitely not Maguire. If it was up to me i wouldn't offer Fellaini a new contract and get another CM but that's probably a bit too much now especially Pereira seemingly staying. The other transfer might be a LB i don't know but we must definitely sign a RW.

So you won't actually be happy with any signing, as long as Mourinho is managing them? Would have been much quicker just to say so.

Far from the truth - I like Pogba, Bailey & Lukaku if he was played as a RF.

Lukaku's shows the positives & negatives of Jose. Pick's the good players but makes him play like Drogba 3.0 rather than adapt his tactics to find a game where Lukaku could embrace a position truly embrace for himself; such as playing just off the centre leaning to the right as

LVG fan talking about anything..

Look above.

A class LB is so much more needed than a CB if true that we are not after LB anymore. Think it is the position we need strengthen the most to elevate the overall play in the team.

Fullbacks are so important in the modern game that i cannot stress it enough!

In the interview he hints he is not after a full back but would like 2 more signings. but ya agreed, LB is more urgent than a CB

Yes he hints that. And that worries me! If we actually walk away from a deal with Sandro wich according to reports we have agreed a contract with then the board and Jose should have a word with themselves.

Are they really though? I keep hearing this and the expression ‘hold the width’ which I’m sure I never heard before
last year.

There are different ways to play football, and different teams have different strengths, so I’m beginning to wonder if this is another thing that is being ridiculously over-stated. It sounds a bit hipster bandwagon to me.

The same Sandro who was so poor last season he was dropped? How many times have you actually watched him play?

I dont know if you noticed all of our attackers like Martial, Sanchez, Rashford, Mata and Lingard likes to bring the ball inwards to the middle and we played narrow as feck??

With better fullbacks we would easily scored more goals cause of good crosser and would be easier to open defences where all are defending on the opposite team.

Barcelona look to be out of the running for Willian since they just signed Malcom. I think we could soon see him in a United shirt. Think we will go for Alderweireld too as he will not play second fiddle at spurs and will likely want out

Cant remember where I read 'agreeing personal terms' is just a loose undertaking to give him a bigger salary. Nothing closely resembling a formal contract negotiation/agreement. That saga may never have gone beyond preliminary discussions

Yes, both Willian and Toby are highly probable targets, along with Maguire. We are probably being asked to pay crazy money to secure any of these targets, which explains the lack of transfer activity in the last month. Paying maybe 50-60m for Toby and 60-70m for Willian is crazy since they are both 29 years old, and I can imagine that both Spurs and Chelsea might demand to make Martial a part of any deal, which the board and Mou might have different opinions about.

If Martial is unhappy and demands a transfer then I wouldn't mind selling him to Chelsea for 30-40m plus Willian to compensate for the age difference, and to use that money plus what we got for Blind/Darmian to sign Maguire. That would make a good transfer window and would strengthen us quite a bit.

Zlatan said he talked to Jose at a recent training day and Jose has something secret up his sleeve. Sounds like an incoming transfer is imminent to me.

Should every other English left back be embarrassed then, after all they were all left out in favour of a 33 year old winger? Not just this but the left hand side of the pitch fell apart when the supposed proper left back was on in his place during the World Cup.

Maybe, just maybe, Young is just very good in the position and deserves another season due to us having more important areas to strengthen?
A sensible poster? This deep in the Caf? Poor devil. Hold on to the rope and keep swimming. In a week or so it might start to get a little brighter...

Feck i’d Like Willian here. Just saying... I have doubts we can get Alderweiled, or however you spell him

Jose is coming up with his new clothing line?

Guess you did not see him play the seasons before last season? Just because a player had a lesser season does not mean he is shit does it? Many factors come into play when it comes to a players form.

I watched Sandro around 20-25 games the last 3 years. I like to watch Serie A when there aint no premier League matches on the telly.

The reports i am referring to is from the podcast of Duncan Castles wich has gotten alot of United`s transfer right after Mourinho took over. Castles has been really adamant about this for over 1 month now, he is convinced we agreed with Sandro but not Juventus.

Kohler?

So the doom merchants talking about us not wanting more players and that Mourinho is happy with the deadwood has been proved nonsense.

We have also tried to get Willian since 16/17, so right wing is also a problem position in the manager's mind. It's likely we wanted to get Mbappe or Dembele but could not compete with the injection of oil monye by PSG and the Neymar sale by Barcelona.

Time and again we see it’s more important that a manager has a player that can suit his style and tactics than say a better player who can’t. So, if Jose wants McGuire and Rebic or Willian so be it

So it's fair to say you have seen him play, maybe 7 games a season?

Completely disagree. Young has had a good season and there will not be any clear gettable options which would significantly improved us. Agree that we need to replace him soon as he is 33 but he's been doing fine. What we clearly need to really elevate us is a RW which would make our RB whoever plays there play much better and of course would provide service for our striker

What is this nonsense that Young has had a good season? He's the most average leftback we've ever had. He's the worst leftback in top 4 teams.

You think Young is worse than a player who was in the Championship not so long ago, a converted 5th/6th choice midfielder and the man he got ahead of in the national team?

I have a sneaking suspicion that Young could end up being our first choice RB this year with Dalot being too young and offensive for Mourinho this year and Valencia apparently struggling with injuries and always struggling offensively. Shaw has his faults, but if healthy he should really be able to beat out a decade older Valencia and a teenager.

Overall, yeah, an LB might be more necessary than a CB. At the moment, you wouldn't really back any of our fullbacks to have a PFA level season, but if we sign a quality LB we only need one of Young, Valencia or Dalot to have that surprise quality season, whereas if we don't sign anyone we need 1 of Young or Shaw to do so at LB and one of Valencia or Dalot, or both Shaw and Young (switched to RB) to do.

Whereas at CB, I think we're banking on Bailly to have a good year at RCB and can count on Smalling to back him up, leaving us with Lindelof, Jones, Rojo and Tuanzebe as 4 guys of whom we need one to step up.

7-8 Serie A games a season and the odd champions league game. Guess i do not meet the minimum requirements to be allowed to judge a player from another team then?

Guess you seen him loads?

We can use Sanchez at RW if needed.

Young isnt good enough defensively to be called a class fullback and he aint a left footed so he cant cross the ball in naturally with his left leg, he has to stop and go right then cross in but then the runs in the box are already finished.

60m for Willian (who's 30 btw) just doesnt make sense. That is why Barca rightly stopped pushing.
