Joseph Anthony Barton

Now that we're a Europa League caliber side, let's bring Joey in.

He would not now , but I still think that if SAF had got him years ago he would now be a fantastic player.
He needed a strong manager to kick his arse when he was getting in to trouble and he did not have one.

He'd improve our starting midfield.

Based on last season's performances alone, Barton would walk into the United midfield.

While he still gives an impression of being a ticking time bomb, some of his level-headedness last year was par excellence. Watch the Wolves game and his scuffles with Karl Henry.

Heh.

What an utterly shit performance and what a great decision it looks like from Newcastle to cut him loose.

To say that he can't play central midfield is too far, and completely kneejerk off of a poor performance today. He wouldn't really improve our midfield and I don't want us to sign him, but he is a good midfielder nevertheless.

I watched him play football for 4 years and I can count the number of good games he had in that position on one hand. This is not kneejerk and not an exaggeration, I made similar posts in the Newbie section when he was still an NUFC player.

His resurgence for us last season was down to him being finding his actual position wide right in a 4-4-2. This is something that seems to have been completely ignored by the entire football world. He may have been a box-to-box midfielder when he was at City, but he certainly can't do it anymore.

This - He's been poor this season whenever he's been deployed centrally. Liability. Sloppy passing and no real positional dicipline.

You know your stuff, Sewelly, I have to say. Calls it as it is as well, probably the most unbiased out of us on here!

For all his talk about how he should be involved with England, he just got absolutely destroyed by two English central midfielders, neither of whom are likely to start midfield for England in the summer.

That's what I mean, he has nothing in terms of attributes to make him suitable to playing there.

Poor short passing game and a ridiculous penchant for the hollywood pass (which is funny considering his Twitter comments about England's inability to produce players with that skillset), isn't able to keep hold of the ball in possession, not a great tackler and not the greatest physical attributes to make up for these other deficiencies.

He is however a fairly cultured crosser of the ball and can pick a pass over short and long distance when given a large amount of time and space, which meant when we stuck him out there in desperation we suddenly started seeing him produce his best football in half a decade.

It's amazing how players seem to gather reputations for something they're not. Everybody I speak to thinks Barton is a tough tackling, box-to-box midfield general. He's actually a bit of a fanny on the football pitch and often shirks away from the general confrontations, but can produce some quality if the set-up is right to get the best out of him.

He probably earned an England call up last season based solely on form, but really, you wouldn't want to be including a limited 29 year old footballer in an England team that you hope will want to progress long-term. As for being good enough for a top 4 club? Funniest crap I've heard in ages.

To be fair Warnock was slagging him off to the press before so I don't see how he hasn't got a right to defend himself.

I'm not a big fan of Barton as a player, infact he's incredibly average but he doesn't come across to bad on Twitter. He may be opinated but if you don't want the opinion just don't read his posts. He has a point re-Warnock, he's blaming everyone but himself really and his record recently up to his sacking was poor, blaming Barton just seems a bit of a cop out really.

For all the things to slate him about I think this is the wrong one, if he didn't defend himself he'd risk fans turning on him, so it's a good move by him.

Neil Warnock saying I talk to much. Now that is funny #mikebassett

If I talked about Neil, he'd do well to get another job. Twitter cost him his job???? I can think of a million other things! #shutitwarnock

Lost his job and the guy is blaming everyone but himself! Embarrassing, time to look in the mirror mate. Last thing we need right. Big week

What a tit he is!

What did Warnock say about him? how the hell can he have fallen out with the manager who signed him and made him captain so quickly!

He shouldn't be saying publicly that if he talked about Warnock he'd be lucky to get another job, it's totally unprofessional.

He could probably use a better choice of words but Warnock pretty much came out and said Barton got him the sack. Barton is spot on what he's saying in my opinion, Warnock is blaming everyone but himself. His record was appaling in recent times and it didn't look like changing. If Barton's "tweets" are to be believed the training and preperation was poor as well.

Maybe he shouldn't be speaking out as much as he does but if you put it in to context Warnock was quite popular amongst the fans, he's running the risk of ignoring it and looking like he cost him his job so he'd hardly be the most popular there. He's always going to come out and defend himself.

I agree when people say he's an average player but if people really don't want his opinions they're not hard to avoid, if you have him on twitter just unfollow him. I personally find him more interesting than most the other footballers on there, rather listen to his opinion on Warnock than what Rio Ferdinand's kids listening to on the school run.

I'm not sure what Barton's supposed to do there. Warnock's a bitter cnut who had a dig at him for no apparent reason so why wouldn't he answer back. They're a pair of dickheads, to be fair, but Neil Warnock got the sack because he's a Championship manager who bought badly and didn't seem to be getting much out of the squad.

He's way off with his comments about Warnock. Why shouldn't Warnock look to people at the club? He got QPR promoted, and they were yet to fall into the relegation zone. He shouldn't have to look at himself in this situation. Warnock may be a thud, however I can sympathise with him here.

Barton's shouldn't be listened to though. People only pay attention to any of what he says because of who he is.

Yes Joey, you're concerned about the disruption this will have on your match preparation. That's why you've taken to tweeting about it the day before your match.

Also all Neil Warnock said was that Barton talks about himself enough on twitter so he wasn't going to say any more. Barton has taken that much further.

Barton has been pants for QPR. He probably fell out with Warnock at the start of the season and then tried to get him the sack by underperforming since then

Joey Barton left Newcastle: Newcastle rose. Joey Barton joined QPR: QPR dropped. ---> Doesn't take a rocket scientist, does it?

Getting slated on twitter for discussing his problems with alcohol and how AA has helped him turn his life around.

Pretty disgraceful.

Barton being the recipient of abuse on Twitturd? Makes a welcome change.

Telling the whole world about his meeting with 'alcoholics anonymous'. Funny that.

Attention seeking knob.

Bartons a fecking cnut. Couldnt care less.

HE has stated he had an issue which he has recovered from, with the help of such an organisation, what harm can that do other than help other people in similar situations to him sort themselves out?

You're clearly the bigger cnut in this.

Hope he falls off the wagon.

And you're a cnut too.
