Joseph Anthony Barton

Looked to me like he was clipped but if he wasn't, he was certainly fouled in the box with ball in play about 5s later by Barton. Of course Walton didn't see it since he had his back to the incident.

Yep, if they're not giving a free-kick for diving, the lino has to be flagging for a pen at that point.

I've seen five-year-old kids playing Postman stamp harder than that. Song trod on him to dissuade him from coming through the back of him late. Barton made a seven-course meal out of it (as he did again later).

At least you're starting out this season as ridiculous as you ended the last one.

That's brilliant. Best bit of spin I've seen in a long time.

What I find so hilarious about the whole thing is that he was having a go at a player for simulation/going down easily, he then got a tap on the face and went down himself like he'd been shot.

The double standards are pretty astounding.

He'd walk into our midfield dontcha know.

He's an utter fecking idiot, as for Steven Taylors reaction  what a cnut....

Oh and I love the outrage Barton's shown over Gervinho raising his hands to his face... that must be why he punched Pederson in the chest rather than the fact last year.

In total agreement with barton over shearer, but fecking hell man use your brain, he's a Newcastle hero, you're gonna turn the fans against you

I'm still liking how he tweeted about the sunday supplement guy being a nugget, and the fella (brian woolnough or something?) read it out on air and said "I'd love to say what I think of you, but this is television and I can't"

Just been with the missus for are 20 week scan, really put the last few days into perspective. Its a game not a life!!
He reads Nietzsche but can't spell 'our'.

This thread needs to be moved out of the Transfer Forum...

This guy isn't going anywhere, other than some asylum.

Bin reading Orwell again. Good writer an' all but I preferred him when he was with Keith Harris on the telly.

Bad shirt, shoes and views from shearer again. Sort it out slaphead........

Incredible, who gave this lad technology anyway?

That will surely endear him to the Geordie faithful?

He reads Nietzsche but can't spell 'our'.

Whilst he has apparently managed to locate and repeat a Nietzsche quote I doubt very much that he has read him - let alone understood what was written.

Nietzsche warns his readers about the need for 'slow reading' and the care it involves - I would say that's contra to Barton's character. (Though I may be being over-cynical).

I also doubt it, I was moaning about his faux intellect in this thread the other day.

Thus Tweeted Zarathustra

Yeah, exactly. Much of Nietzsche's work is so quotable and this, I guess, is ideal for Barton's purposes. Zarathustra contains such beautiful prose and poetry, which is why I love it; especially as I'm too stupid to truly understand FN's ideas. :D

Newcastle would do well to keep him, he's a cnut but he's their cnut. They need him to finish a respectable position in the league

That's not usually the problem tbh - it's just being willing to get into practice about how he uses language, writes in multiple registers etc. Then it's just getting acquainted with the different ideas that repeat in his career and examining the ideas critically.

That'd get folks say 60% of the way there, then it gets interesting.

Anyway, Barton - not much of a scholar I'd say - definitely a 'knower' who remains unknown to himself - but is unfortunately not aware of that fact.

Has been given permission to talk to QPR according to SSN

Going to have a medical there pretty soon according to his own twitter.

Just got interviewed in his car after the medical, seems gutted to be leaving NUFC. Really didn't look like a man who wanted the move.

"Haven't made my decision yet"

"had to come and see what they had to say" etc etc.

Poor old Joey - complains about Newcastle selling their best players and harming the team and lands himself in a worse team.

Must be a lot going on we don't get to hear of - makes so little sense for Newcastle to lose such a good player at this stage of the season, for presumably little or no fee.

I just don't understand why Newcastle don't want him. He was doing a good job for them. I mean yes he comes with baggage but I think with him added to their team, they can easily finish in the top 10 this season.

You'll find the majority of fans on his side as well as Pardew.

But his twitter campaign has raised the hackles of the higher ups. They view it as an unforgivable sin, want him gone and they're not going to play ball in regards to a contract anymore. Pardew is too spineless to really challenge them over this and so we find ourselves in the situation we're in.
