I don't think anyone is claiming that the blame is all on Mourinho , that the Spurs squad is brilliant and that if they sacked him tomorrow Spurs would go on to win the Title or anything like that.

They have a lot of players in their squad that need replacing and it feels like they need a big overhaul as Pochettino was saying about 15 months ago to be fair.

The issue is if you need to overhaul your squad and you don't have endless money to do it why on earth would you bring in Mourinho?

Think Levy just got sick of all the no trophy jibes so thought that was the best guarentee. He comes in and they lose to Norwich on penalties in FA cup two months later.

He does usually take domestic cup competitions very seriously with his team selections but the shorter season has made that near impossible in league cup so think it's all on europa league for Spurs this season. He achieved that objective for Man. United in 16/17 so I wouldn't completely dismiss it.

He won't be judged on league position thats for sure.

Either the league cup or FA cup would be a massive achievement for them. Obviously Europa league would be huge too.

Their season would be a resounding success if they finished 8th but won the league cup. Its a trophy and they desperately need one.

However, after just watching the latest episode of their documentary, you can understand why the players aren't looking motivated.

He has turned them against one another in training and/or alienated a select few i.e. dele, ndombele, rose etc.

If results continue this way I'd be surprised if this isn't yet another group of players that will down tools on him. Shocking man management really.

Sorry Spurs fans but I can’t help feel a beautiful sense of schadenfreude. I am jumping with glee.

I really hope Mourinho is given a lot of money to spend in the transfer window and then when the inevitable fall comes milks every cent out of Levy before he leaves. It’s a strange feeling of comfort to see Levy being taken for a ride after his years of pseudo hard man tactics.

No idea why he keeps working when so miserable.

Take a break and find some joy FFS. Then might see old Mou back.
He's out to prove doubters wrong because his ego needs it but it ends up being a risky proposition for him as the more he reveals himself to be passed, the more his standing and reputation takes a hit so it's a bit like a catch-22 for him.

Always thought he should've taken a sabbatical after the United job before deciding his next step. Think he'd be a good shout in international football as his style bodes better for the one off knock out tournament format rather than a long 40+ match club campaign. He could also go back to doing media gigs which he's pretty box office at

I suspect his days of being a top club manager are long passed him though unfortunately, he's actively refused to adapt to the changes in the modern game which will always separate him from someone like a Fergie who took pride in being able to evolve his methods over a long period of time.

Watching that clip from the fly on the wall documentary I think they need to be banned.

It's so fake it's unreal, Jose's speech felt pre-planned. In fact it reminded me of one of those stupid Essex programs where it's normal people but scripted.

I wonder how much motivation the pay packet is? Clearly he never needs to work again, but getting sacked every three years with a massive payout is quite attractive. I imagine his lay-off fees from Chelsea x 2, Utd and Madrid would be in excess of £50m!

When he started he was a breath of fresh air (even if opposing fans hated him), and you are right he’s not adapted, and makes not attempt to evolve.

I reckon he will end up at PSG at some point just to pad his stats with an extra league title or two just to say he hasnt lost his touch.

Mourinho and Neymar would be box office for the falling out alone.

He will never manage PSG, they don't like his style and his image. I don't really know why people keep mentioning PSG who are probably the worst fit imaginable.

Hard for me to grasp how can the players fitness be so low when they have a fantastic fitness coach.

He wouldn’t need to be as pragmatic in that league with that squad surely?

It's a mystery but the same thing happened at United during his tenure. It's also strange because portuguese managers are serious about those stuffs, iirc most portuguese managers from Mourinho's generation to today have studied sports science at the Uni, they are all supposed to have very solid basis.

Well that league isn't as easy as some of you seem to think and he knows nothing else. So why would someone hire a manager that is at the end of his career and expect him to not do what he knows?

He played good stuff with Madrid. I’m not saying they would hire him or that they should. I wouldn’t be suprised to see him there one day though.

And the plot thickens even ore if you bare in mind that Portugal usually have great results in endurance athletic sports (Marathon, 10Km, etc)

After all those years his famous words are starting to make sense. People were making fun of him but it seems he was not wrong and from the beginning he knew whats going on. Maybe it was crying for help?

Mourinho:
- I SINK...

Yes you are...like a feckin Titanic

Also, why would a club focused on winning the Champions League hire the 2020 version of Mourinho?

That was 7 years ago, you don't sign a manager because he played good stuff 7 years ago. And he won't go there because they don't want him or his bad image which is very important for them. PSG will probably be after the likes of Pochettino, Rose, Nagelsmann or even Bordalas, the later is also pragmatic but he doesn't have Mourinho's bad press.

Also, why would a club focused on winning the Champions League hire the 2020 version of Mourinho?
Trick question, they would never

The likes of Juventus, Real, Barca, Bayern and even a club he's still adored in at Inter all passed on him when they had openings and he was available

Also, why would a club focused on winning the Champions League hire the 2020 version of Mourinho?

I don't know, I wouldn't hire him to win the league, let alone the CL. Though Mourinho having a pop at Leonardo would be hilarious, they would have an open war that Mourinho has already lost.

Do you have a guess about what happened? Is that a subject in portuguese medias because for me there is no obvious reason, Mourinho should be an expert in physical training, he should know more about it than the vast majority of managers?

Couldnt think of any other one team league thats somewhat possible.

Loads of cash, farmers league, guaranteed plaudits.

Seems like Jose would like this a lot. Now teams care more about style of play though I’m not sure they’d touch him with a barge pole.

My guess about this, and I'm not alone on this is that Mourinho os taking Periodization training to an extreme that endurance exercises will only be done if they can fit in the tactical Periodization framework.

Now we know that this framework/theory is widely accepted as a way forward, Americans embraced it in their sports, but should be used to rather as a tool than to be religiously implemented, because it is very difficult to achieve perfection mainly in sports that require technique, endurance and strength.

It is a great tool though, since Klopp, Pep and many other top managers included a lot of ideas from this powerful framework invented by Vitor Trade.

I think his stubbornness of having all the answers 20 years ago and failing to make his methods more objective on recent seasons is taking its toll. Also he believes more in his gut than on science data (by his own words, he's a man of strong beliefs) and when someone speaks like an envagelic, something must be wrong.

The best I can think of is the match v us when football resumed after the lockdown. Hardly a masterclass though, but he managed a point from a game that they shouldn't have got anything from.

It really does demonstrate his decline.

We should have easily won that game and probably would have if Pogba was fully fit and Greenwood played from the start.

PSG aren't going near him.

How they win is also very important to them.

Mourinho is finished at a top club. I said it in 2018: he is never winning a league title at a top club ever again.

I think people are just genuinely excited at the idea of having four centrebacks while Neymar and Mbappe play as wingbacks against Dijon while being 1-0 up. Won't happen unfortunately.

Italy would be a good shout - always seem to find a home for Premier League strays.

Inter had an opening and Jose was extremely successful with them. They opted not to even attempt to get him in.

No one wants him.

Once he implodes at Tottenham, he is completely done in the Premier League with a big 6 club.

Don't think the issue is the league now. It's that his style is outdated. Italy till early 2010s still played a brand of football similar to what they played in early 2000s and hence he was successful.

With teams focussing more on attacks, and getting more players forward, his park the bus tactics aren't being that successful, which is evident from the defensive record of his teams in the last 3-4 years.

Nah, he will already have fallen out with Neymar at that point because of some daft reason beyond anyone elses logic

Rumours circulating he had a falling out with Alli before the Everton match.

Could just be clickbait. Or it could be the beginning of the Jose implosion.

For the sake of his mental wellbeing, he should take a year of sabbatical off football and go manage a national team just in time for the 2022 World Cup. I hope he turns it around at Spurs but it seems like he's just yoyoing around now.

Not sure thats gonna help. Didnt he already have multiple breaks in the past few years? Should just unleash him as a color commentator instead. Could be fun if he starts talking about players standing around touching their balls and not be big enough cnuts.

Not a chance PSG will hire him. Neither would Bayern.

Maybe Juve or back to Inter or to replace Simone at AMadrid.

His mental wellbeing goes worse out of football. Sure he was crying last year on sky being out of work saying he misses football
