Dont think our issues are in right or wrong guy like 100%. There must be some direction, a vision when it comes to where we going, current manager, future manager, academy etc. For me it looks like we are in PL title hunt but instead of working towards it, we kinda forcing the whole thing.
There is clearly a vision, why else would Mourinho buy Bailly, Pogba, Matic, Ibrahimovic, Lukkaku etc if not to win the league? In order to win the league we need to win games, which we didn't do as we drew so many times. So he bought one of the most clinical strikers in the premier league, Lukkaku and we've been beating teams we drew against last season. We didn't have a proper DM last season other than carrick, so he buys matic. The season before that we didn't really have world class talent, just potential or average players so he bought Pogba and Ibrahimovic. Clearly the idea is to make a team good enough to win the league and champions league. And so far, 2nd place, loads of goals scored and not too far behind city is showing that it is actually working. Only injuries are hampering us.

No club plans for future manager, it's lucky if the manager needed becomes available when needed.

Playing devil’s advocate here (for the sake of balance) but it can also be perceived as; we’ve played some really poor sides, almost a third of our goals came from set pieces, struggled at stoke Southampton and other games where the score line flattered our performance, laboured to a draw against Liverpool who got smashed by City and Spurs, legitimately deserved to lose to the mighty Huddersfield.

Duncan Castles said PSG could move for Mourinho in foreseeable future. I would not oppose of that move as I believe Mourinho won't stay here longer than 3 years. I really doubt if Mourinho finishes his current contract. His family still staying in London and Mourinho living in a hotel at Manchester. Also, there's some disagreement between him and Woodward on some aspects which he started the PSG rumour on his own. A move to PSG would be a reasonable move for Mourinho.

Then what about the replacement for United? Pochettino should be the chosen one. Rated by SAF as the best coach of the league, PL title contender experience, loved to develops English academy player. Perfect match made in heaven.

Let's try the same with City :

They defeated some very poor sides, got a draw at home to Everton who were smashed by everyone else, snatched a win at 97 from the mighty Bournemouth, defeated Liverpool only after Mane stupid red card and Chelsea without their main striker and after 48 hours from playing in Spain against Atletico.

I don't necessarily agree with what I just wrote but I'm flowing with the same logic as yours. I can do this to all other teams too. For example I can say only Spurs significant win was the last win against Liverpool, but they lost to Chelsea ( with full list of injuries) at home and dropped 2 points to Burnely and other 2 points to the mighty Swansea and both at Wembley.

I can keep going ?

The last paragraph explains Castles' intentions from writing such a story :

If Manchester United want to beat PSG to the Champions League punch they’d be advised to do all they can to support Mourinho in his efforts to bring it back to Old Trafford.

Totes Fair response. But as a United supporter I don’t really care about how they are where they are, but it does concern me when our own on field product doesn’t suggest that these results are sustainable. Is all I’m getting at.

One bad week ... and it's only considered 'bad' because it's United... and everyone is freaked out over Jose and questioning or hyperventilating over him?

This is a guy who has a proven record and amongst the Top 3 in the world to boot.

Find a paperbag and breath through it folks.

What I wanted to say that, at the end of the league, results will only matter, not how you got these results. We're applying this to other teams so we should apply it to us as well.

You’re missing the point here.

But basically, we’re not playing as well as our results suggest - is my view. And because of this, I fear our trend of great results is not sustainable. I’m not trying to debate the particulars of our results against our rivals. I couldn’t give a monkeys cos as you’ve stated only their results are relevant.

To say that only our results matter to you, is a bit disingenuous to say the least. Performances indicate progress (or lack thereof).

The last paragraph explains Castles' intentions from writing such a story :
He wants to win, glazers are happy with top 4 and will only invest till we dont reach top 4. I am with jose on this one. Put pressure on the leeches to get the players he needs, we will be judged on basis of what our rivals win. Why should he be at a disadvantage if others are spending what they want to get who they want. For the biggest club in the world we need to act like it and not hold back on signing all the players that the manager wants. If its jose vs glazers then i would rather the glazers out than jose.

In fergie's last season we came from behind 12 times to win a match. Did it matter how well or badly we played? all that mattered was we won the games.
I wouldnt give a cow's arse if we won all our games in dour 1-0 with fellaini scoring of his elbows if it meant we won the game.

Then he can off to PSG. Woodward got 3 of 4 signing he wants and there's only PSG and City spent much than us.

The negative surrounding now all started by himself publicly flirts with PSG. I can accept the his play style approach on big games. I can accept the defeat against Huddersfield. But I really annoyed he talks so much on PSG job from him or his emissary to put pressure on board not fully supporting him. Obviously United got strong financial power, but you cant comparing with City and PSG as they got the whole country backing up.

You can't get results if you're playing badly or not performing well at all, though. If our quality of football was bad the result of Huddersfield would have been the standard of our results not a sudden shocking defeat.

We can agree that we need to improve more but to say the results weren't monitoring our performance is harsh.

I'm not into this "Castles is Jose's mouthpiece" myth. I don't think Jose or his agent ordered Castles to wrote this.

What I believe is Castles just has a Mourinho fetch and always write this bunch of nonsense every now and then to show that he lacks support. Let's be honest Castles isn't a reliable journalist and his articles aren't the most read over the country so that Jose uses him as a means to press the club.

First to say Alves goes to Psg, first to say neymar goes to Psg. Got things more right than most this summer. He is not a jose mouth peice just a gestifute one. He writes what the agency tells him to write thats it. Mendes is cosing up with Psg now and no wonder his articles are more PSG than anything.

You’re kinda strawmanning me here yo. Agree or disagree I’ve said my piece, so peace!

He also linked us to Aguero and Hart during the summer.

Overall he's definitely not the most reliable journalist here, so it doesn't make sense Jose will use him as a tool of pressure. There are more trusted journalists to leak such news to them.

Look to what Mendez did when Ronaldo wanted to press Madrid to help him in his taxes problem. The leakage even reached the BBC itself!

I’m sorry lads.

I agree, winning is all that matters.

I just made the mistake of seeing playing well as a prerequisite to winning consistently, that’s all.

It's such a simple reasoning. Really don't understand how some posters don't get this.

I think we'll do alright this season but how anyone can watch the performances and not see the deficiencies that will hold us back is beyond me.

Right now Silva looks like the right guy.
You just said Mourinho goes against our club values which I presume is because Mourinho is a defensive manager and United should be an attacking team, right? And you want Marco Silva who himself is a defensive manager. Makes no sense.

In my opinion, Mourinho's tactics are cowardly in most games.

The 4-2-3-1 formation with Matic and Herrera offers very little creativity. I know we have injuries but 2 holding players against HUDDERSFIELD? I don't mind us digging out a gritty win or draw in the big games like we did under SAF at times but Mourinho takes it to the next level, with the wingers playing as full backs and literally having ONE chance in an entire big game.

It took him until November last season to start Martial and Mkh together. This season, we have still not seen the front 3 that everyone wants to see of Martial Lukaku Rashford.

He should not be given a new contract but not be sacked either. I don't like some of his interviews, at the start of the season he seemed relaxed but now he will now start the childish antics and moods. It could be the beginning of the end. His transfer record is good but the decision to sign another CB for £35M is bizarre.

What options apart from two holding midfielders do we have available?

Its' basically ABM for some. Anyone But Mourinho.

Sarri, Silva, Pochettino - managers who are yet to win anything significant are being touted over Jose who has atleast won silverware already for us. The first two will wilt under the pressure if they manage us. Of these, Pochettino shows promise, but there's no guarantee he will get our current average players like Mata, Herrera, Valencia, Young etc to play like Spurs are currently playing.

Pochettino has never been in a pressure job either, people do not understand that pressure is the biggest test in these huge jobs, you can get by with having maybe less tactical knowledge or maybe not the best management but its pressure that kills you. Its the pressure that ages managers weeks in the job to look like they have been there ages. Moyes was shit under pressure, Lvg buckled, so did many at barca/real. Benitez at pool, hell even best playes buckle including cristiano missing his penalty in champions league final, gerrard and the slip, Robbe in the world cup. Jose takes pressure in his grasp like ferguson, wenger buckled and never recovered so did keegan.
These managers playing tippy tappy football at clubs who do nothing in league/europe are not to be considered unless they win something or do something in a pressure position.

I meant giving money to LvG to buy his type of players, then make them learn his way, just so we can jump to JM with opposite way of play or at least not even close to LvG, there is no vision in that. Also guess because of that, it seems levels below first team doing their own thing.

Well if info is true, it seems City did with PG.

Matic or Herrera plus Mata. Or even Lingard as CM, or even McTominay.

2 holding midfielders against Huddersfield is a poor management.
Herrera isn't a holding midfielder. And you would honestly play Lingard in CM or McTominay who has hardly featured against Huddersfield away?

Yes, playing actual midfielders in midfield is poor management. Lingard and Mata aren't CM's and Mctomminay is a kid who has looked underwhelming almost everytime he's featured.

So now Castles is pimping Mourinho on an Arab media outlet?

Castles is serving two purposes by this piece. He's touting his pal Jose as "PSG's man", which seems plausible but not guaranteed, and putting more pressure on the Glazers to invest more in the team in January.
