I've not criticised Jose much...but we need to approach games in a higher gear, instead of hoping the opposition settles into our tempo and we nick a goal or two because we've got better players.

We seemingly don't have another gear to move into when that goes wrong either. Thankfully Palace moved on to the back foot and Mata sharpened us up a bit (the perfect sub for that moment), but the goal was hardly definitely coming.

Is that really too much to ask for? I don’t think it is. Today was an amazing comeback and I’m still buzzing but it was also very lucky, there is no way we should have been 2-0 against Crystal Palace.

Very difficult to assess him at the moment. Why we are lacking that intensity is beyond me. However, when you have 7, 8 players out of 11 completely out of form at the same time, unable to make a 10 yard pass, trap a simple ball, how do you assess the system? When the balance is the other way, say as it was in the second half against Chelsea, the system looks pretty good. 5, 6 passes stick, fluency develops, momentum is gained, confidence grows. We just don't seem to be able to start on the front foot at the moment.

It can’t be the case but to me we just look unprepared for games when they begin, no one really seems to know what they’re doing. It’s bizarre.

He sounded enthusiastic at the end, as much as he's been in a while...was obviously angry about the second goal but was clearly delighted with the win.

He threw the kitchen sink at it when 2-0 down with how we played the rest of the game and his substitutions, you have to give him credit for that.

Well that's just not true. We applied pressure on Palace which, quite frankly, should have been applied though out the match.

I don't think it's Jose's forte. The come backs. In fact I'm struggling to recollect any.

I'm not sure if you feel we should dispense with full backs from the start of the game? Of course we should have been applying more pressure from the start but you can't say his response wasn't extremely proactive.

He made the right subs today but it means very little if we continue to approach games in the way we have recently. The first half performance was genuinely dreadful and Liverpool will annihilate us if we play anything like that against them.

Probably not, but managed one tonight anyway. Plus we came from behind against Chelsea, so not doing too bad in that regard recently.

Yeah, Liverpool are so good they are annihilating us for quite a few years now. Oh wait...

No. I don't mean we should go gun-ho for 90 minutes. But I feel like there is more to come from this team. Controlling the game etc. Being comfortable on the ball, knowing the game is ours. Obviously, its a game of football. The game is never yours but that authority. That confidence. I just dont think we had that. We never put the screw on them until it was 2-1.

Yeah. True. I am dissapointed, not in Jose per se, but in the whole situation as whole. I was expecting him to come here - have us extremely solid in defence and be devastating in counter attack. Just haven't seen it, yet.

For going for it against Palace, a Palace missing half their players? Really? Credit?

What I don't understand the plan to absorb the pressure from teams that are clearly inferior to us. What we're doing is - letting the feckers play into the game.

Start the game. Control the game, by being conservative for 15-20 mins and then start putting pressure on them. Someone under pressure is more likely to make a mistake/forget their game plan than some cnuts who's the pitch thinking 'holy feck I'm out-playing these superstars.

I think we did try to press them, we just didn't do it right.

His changes in the second half for us won us the game as much as Matic's thundercnut. I just don't get why we had to wait til we were 2-0 do show some intent and urgency. Credit to Palace for their performance but sitting off them in that first half was punished but I think most of our woes in the first half was player mistakes rather than tactical issues.

Jose is a reactive manager, not a proactive one. Which is why we lack identity as a team as why we will never play progressive football under him, and in turn which is why players like Sánchez and Pogba who thrive on passing and movement will suffer without dedicated attacking tactics and coaching. He has one of the best t teams around and he’s getting nowhere near enough out of it.

But like nothing to do with pressing lad. Not unless we're doing it with intent and not let the opposition find penetrating passes. We also in the bottom table of covering distance per team. Again. Something isn't right.

And by the way, Haram, what is the right way of pressing? I mean, surely that's basic. Surely, Jose should know how to implement that.

I'm not having a go by the way. It's just that I don't understand how we miss the basics like that.

Pressing them stops them getting into the game and lets you win the ball back quicker.

I edited my reply.

Yeah of course. Yet we don't press at all do we? Unless it's against technically gifted teams.

Why do you think we dont have identity - we have. We are solid, well drilled, well organised team. By progressive football, if you mean , pressing like mad cows, then yeah ..we will never play progressive football, but if you mean more tactical, and more positional game designed to make less mistakes, we already are one!

For me, Jose has overachieved with the bunch he has. But if you mean, will we go gegen pressing like Liverpool, then the answer is - No, we won't! Thats childish way to play football.

It sure didn't like it. Pressing usually works as a team doesn't it?

I just watched Jose's post match and he said we didn't press properly. So I'm guessing we set out to do it but didn't really do it well.

I think the fact that he finally looked alive and emotional on the touchline and post match interviews is refreshing enough. I really think his "I am the mature one and all others are clowns" contributed to the general air of negativity around us this season.

By far the most delusional post I have ever read in a while.

I can't even muster any energy to reply, coz I'd lose some of from my life expectancy.

We didn't press properly but its not the first time. Every time it's laissez-faire, and then - whoops we just conceded a goal. Let's do the pressing right, right now. Who do you blame? Jose? For not getting his players to do what he wants from the get go. Or the players? For not listening to his instructions. I'm sure we don't go out there thinking: feck it - will worm yourselves into the game and win in the end. I bloody hope not.

I don’t know who to blame. We press well at times and sometimes we don’t. I suppose more of the blame can be on the manager, but even our passing was very off in the first half, and that’s not down to him. Probably a mixture of both.

Exactly. I think we always play better to the naked eye, when we do press. Usually, it's teams with similar quality. Surely, if we pressed all teams like that - we'd have much better success. It sounds simple but I don't want to sound like Gary Neville.

Without ego, if you think that pressing with the same intensity against teams well below ourselves is not the way to go, then do explain.

Again, I'm not pressing, I'm just puzzled.

Mourinho and his football is here to stay for many years, and his defensive football will win us title/cup. So, I guess you are braced for few frustrating years ahead. Btw, are you supporting Pool or United this sat? Be honest.

While I agree, I really don't think high intensity pressing is sustainable over a whole season, especially against teams we should be beating without needing to. As has been shown under some Klopp teams of the past, they have a tendency to look knackered at times throughout the season.

Granted our football isn't as pleasing to watch when we are soaking up pressure rather than pressing though.

I think you can approach it in different ways. I dont think pressing is right or wrong. It’s just when and how you do it.

I'm gonna say, lots of teams looked better coached than we do.

We win simply because we have better players.

The feck are you on about? Progressive football isn’t mad pressing like cows. The fact that you think that says everything.

We have absolute gems in Sánchez, Pogba and Martial who would thrive in attacking systems that Pep and Klopp have developed. Based on passing, movement and good decision making.

He has NOT OVERACHIEVED with this bunch.

Under Pep, the likes of Pogba and Martial would not even make starting XI. Pep wants a lot of movement from his attacking players, thats Martial's biggest weakness, and a detrimental one in pep's system.

Jose has definitely overachieved with the players he has, we have center halves who cannot play a simple pass, we have forwards we do not move, nobody in the squad put a decent cross, yet we are 2nd in the league table, if you have missed it. Give him Chelsea's squad ,and Jose will make them finish above us - quite easily.

And whose fault is it that we can't pass the ball well? It all starts with coaching. It is Jose's job to correct such shortcomings and put in place a system that plays to the strengths of his players. Martial's movement is hot and cold but he can clearly be coached to be better to be running in behind defenders. You are actually serious about us overachieving? On the contrary we should be a lot closer in terms of points to City. Performance wise we are far from convincing. Stop feeding me the we are second line. The season isn't over and if we continue to start our games like we did against Palace and Chelsea we will not be second by the end.
