So according to Mourinho both Fellaini and Matic had got knocks during the Saints match, probably the reason why we got in more defenders during the match so that our midfielders don't get too exerted.

With Pogba out, if we lose Matic too we really are fecked.

What a pathetic scheduling of games. So Liverpool played in Russia on Tuesday but play their PL game on Sunday but ManUtd who will play on Wednesday will play on Saturday, what a fecking logical decision by PL.

So all our away fixtures are on Wednesday and then followed by PL game on Saturday 3 PM kickoff.

Whereas United have a total of just 196 hours of respite between Champions League away games and their next Premier League fixture, Liverpool have 321 hours, Tottenham 290, Chelsea 250 and City 219 hours, although that figure will increase if the Manchester derby in December is moved from its current 3pm slot on a Saturday to a later time or date.

 Only good thing is we will be playing Huddersfield away and Brighton at Home. We might drop points but could have been lot worse.

Started off the season well but we've been poor the past few games, need to improve. We are still winning though which is a positive

Think the way hes using the players has been really good. Its giving all game time but keeping everybody fresh. Ideally we would take off Lukaku at times (but we might get that second half of the season once Zlatan comes back).
Right now, I cant say anybody is letting us down when called upon.

Have we lost up to 5 games this calendar year? Our record since that Chelsea loss has been very good with regards to not losing.

Was this our 1st ever 3-4-3 under Jose? Instead of 3-5-2.

Without Pogba, I thought that was a very good decision. Matic & Herrera were mainly tasked with defending and winning the ball back. The extra attacker (instead of Pogba in a 3-5-2) would balance out the offensive aspect of Pogba.

I am thinking Jose is trying to replace his "defensive 4-3-3" with 3-5-2/3-4-3. I think this system suits us better.

4-2-3-1 will be the default against small teams.

The sheer number of goals we are scoring is unbelievable for a "defensive" coach. Then again the number of coach we do let in justify him being a "defensive" coach. Maybe he is just good at both offensive and defensive, and anywhere in between.

May still need to work on his off the field charisma.

Enjoyed our performance yesterday, the new formation really suited us well and really made a decent CSKA team look like absolute amateurs.

CSKA are 4th in the Russian League whereas Spartak Moscow are 8th. This is not a game we usually win easily even under Fergie. I would have been perfectly happy with a draw. Just shows how much Jose has transformed us in just one year.

Attack wise, I think the new formation suited us to the tee. With Martial, Mkhi providing the width/ bodies as required.

However, I was surprised by the number of times we were sliced open by CSKA. If I remember correctly, there was this point immediately after the 1st goal when Martial was dispossessed in the CSKA box and there was a quick counter. We were literally 1 v 1 in that situation with Young not in a defensive position. You'd notice many more instances where we actually had more than a minor concern with our defensive positions, even in the first half when we were running rampant. Though I will give it to you that the attacking impetus we had, primarily because of the link-up between Martial and Lukaku, was quite easy on the eye.

Yes Clique, I would like to second to your observation. I found many times our defensive organization was too rigid and stationary, which give CSKA players the chance to toy around the gaps when either Matic or Herrera attempts to jump onto the player with the ball. Golovin was having a good time taking advantage of that.

This man give me back the joy of watching Man Utd week in week out. It has been said millions times, he should be the one that replaced Sir Alex.

It was painful memories under Moyes and LVG. Those defeats, many 0-0 or 1-0 matches, side way passing, 80% possession, 120 crosses in one match, make it difficult for our opponents and etc are stuff of nightmares!

Does this man have a chant yet? I mean he deserves a proper quality one, loves the club and looks like he is taking us to great heights again!

To the tune of Volare:
Oh Jose ooo
Oh Jose ooo-oo
He's our Portuguese coach
We love him oh so much

I quite like the one we nicked from Chelsea tbh. Short and catchy.

This still happens; but without LVG's over complicated approach to simply controlling the opposition with the ball at our feet.

I know - the guy is hated alot; but LVG has given us an identity at the club with regards to approach to the football we play. Ever since he came in & even after he has gone - we are regarded as a club who can apply pressure through possession; 85% of teams allow us to have the ball, letting us control the game the way we wish.

Even under José a manager who likes counterattacking football; we have controlled the match down to our own abilities on the ball more.

José is doing a wonderful job here taking a few of the basic & good approaches to football that LVG left behind and keeping it in the engine coupled with the tactics and abilities of what José does to make an ideal Jose's team.

People were talking yesterday about the game under LVG VS Cska and against the game we had yesterday with José in charge. We absolutely battered them yesterday and it's all down to José & his players; but surely people must acknowledge that we were moving the ball around & completely toying with the Cska players without breaking a sweat has something to do with the 'Philosophy' of United being a possession based team ever since LVG came here?

The only home game he lost as a United Manager was 2-1 to City last September.

Looking up home game stats across all competitions:
This season - 5P : 5W
Last Season - 31P : 19W, 11D, 1L

Mourinho has just lost 1 game out of 36 at home.

Teams like CSKA would never see much of the ball against a top side, whomever it is. And no top side would do anything other than toy around with CSKA, taking shots at their goal. Against them, we would have the ball even if we don't want it, they are that bad. It has feck all to do with LvG.

21-2 GD after seven matches, I thought his teams were all boring.

Can't lie and say he hasn't exceeded my expectations this season. Not the expectations that United should have (given their stature and resources) but more what I expected coming off last season.

Things are going pretty swimmingly so far.

I'm not a pro José guy but hey, I can dig this. Not a fan of the methods at times but results are doing it for me.

That's the next home game lost

He's got the confidence back in the players & you can see how much they're enjoying themselves. Easily the best football we've played since Fergie's time.

I've been thinking about this recently. I've come to the realisation that his teams are boring when it's not the team you support. It seems like Jose's opponents never really have a chance - especially once his team takes the lead.

Jose is really meaning business this season and if it was not KDB and/or Aguero at City , I would be pretty confident about our PL title's chances , but got to give credit to what Pep's also doing there , especially after the yesterday's game they had in London

Jose is loving his time and the club and he doesn't want to say it , but he is aiming at retiring here , he just doesn't want to get too excited before he takes us to the PL and CL titles , then he might express this opinion , only after he has secured his place even for the bad days that undoubtedly will come

Great work by him and the youngsters are enjoying him greatly
