Jordy Clasie

Is he classy enough for Man utd?
Ive watched Clasie quite a lot and tho i think he is a talented player im not too sure he would make it in the BPL or in United ....one player i do like a lot from the dutch league is Memphis Depay tho a bit consistent he is a very talented player very good technical ability and has and eye for goal

...

Also people naming Clasie, I am a season ticket holder at Feyenoord, and believe me, he is barely Aston Villa level. Sort of like Cleverly without the work-rate that Tom has shown from time to time.

He is Aston Villa, WBA, Sunderland etc quality. Vilhena is younger and better but probably still not top quality

Honestly thought he screamed 'Cleverley' when I was watching last night. He even looks a little like him.

i thought he was a player adored by Feyenoord fans ?
That doesn't neccessarily mean he isn't adored. He is just being abruptly honest in stating that he isn't Manchester United standard.

What about Depay?
he is a player i like very good on the ball not scared to take on defenders and has an eye for goal if he develops well could have a big future ahead of him s bit inconsitent at times tho but he is still young

Sounds like Afellay. Is he a winger?
yes he is a winger who had his breakout season this year tho PSV's season as a whole has been poor he had a good individual season still needs to stay in PSV longer to develop more

We already have a Classy Gerodie, Michael Carrick!

I can see why, the dribbling style is pretty similar with his hands flapping by his sides but when did Cleverley show the kind of determination to win challenges like this?

I haven't seen Cleverley play a ball like that in about 2 years. Hopefully van Gaal will turn him into a respectable prem player.

To be fair, Cleverley has always shown great ethic and resilence. Just last year he was working on his hard-man Wilshere act - getting involved in any sort of scrap on the field. I do agree about the passing range, though. Under Moyes and in Sir Alex's last season, he began to play more reserved and only to instigate a quicker tempo with sideways and backward short passes.

From the little I've seen he looks a few clear levels above Cleverley and he looks quite a feisty player, he actually won the ball the most of his team last season, the 2nd most fouls of players to play at least 1 game as well as having ability on the ball.

Obviously its a weaker league and who knows how he'd do over here but its a very weak area for us

His playing style reminds me a bit of Xavi. Decent talent but not ready for us as of yet. Will be a good buy if we bring in a couple of quality midfielders along with him.

Really like clasie, thought we should have gone for him last summer, but he wasn't ready to leave feyenord, good movement, good tackler, has pace, good passer, and a for such a young kid is a leader on the field.

people just don't like him cos he isn't a big name, like strootman last year, people spend the summer dreaming of Fabregas and De Rossi and a great player like strootman slipped through our fingers and we ended up the pointless signing of fellaini.

this summer people are dreaming of Kroos and Vidal and we probably end up with some unlsess nonsense again like Song.

need to get realistic, Classie would be an excellent buy, both for next season and the future.

His tackling is what impressed me the most from the YouTube footage. We'd kill to have a guy that can win a tackle in midfield and set off a counter attack with a passing range like his.

Not sure what can be made of that video. He really reminds of Cleverley. Most of that highlight has him against Eredivisie opposition. I'd wager a bet that Cleverley would look at least equally as good in the Dutch league.

LVG type of player though maybe. He says himself he can make players better. Doesn't really matter how he 'appears' at this stage of development.

Clasie has always looked average to me when I've seen him. Depay has a chance of being a real top player though.

If Strootman, Afellay and Stijn Schaars weren't injured I very much doubt Clasie would've made it into the World Cup squad. Blind also had a good season, playing in midfield a lot, but Clasie has played some excellent matches for Feyenoord over the years. I believe Fiorentina bid 6 million euro's for him last summer, but that never went through.

My guess would be that our midfield in Brazil will be Nigel de Jong and De Guzman with Sneijder or perhaps Van der Vaart on top. Also think Daley Blind is ahead of Clasie in the picking order. But who knows, everything can change during the next couple of friendly matches and preparations. Van Gaal already stated a couple of times that whoever has best form will play, and except for Robben and Van Persie everyone can be benched or could get an unexpected chance.

Out of interest, what's happened to Afellay? He hardly seems to have played for Barca and it's been 3 seasons or so now right?

Tore his ligaments and missed most of the 2011/2012 season.

He was fit for Euro 2012 and played for us there. After that, he played on loan for Schalke 04, that was last season. He started well there, scored against Dortmund. Got injured heavily early in the season playing in a Germany vs Holland friendly.

When he recovered at the end of the season he got injured again and went back to Barcelona to recover. Has been fit for 8 weeks now, but hasn't played at all for 18 months or so.
