You put some shit on a stick and that's a world class defensive intervention from Jonny Evans according to Redcafe.net, the leading Irish forum.

Just so you know there was never much doubt regarding Vida's first six months, many thought he'll be a success. Also nobody even said that it was a world class intervention, so stop getting your panties in a twist.

 ... wait what am I laughing about, no one told me it was the leading Irish forum, I thought this was the HVAC forums.

Read a few pages back, mate. The majority of this forum wished AIDS upon the fella. Don't worry though, next time he has an off-day he'll be worthless again.

you put random words together in a paragraph, and you have analysis according to NaniNana.net, the leading nutjob forum

You have to wonder why certain posters are so defensive about Vidic and so prepared to attack Evans when most people on this forum readily admit that Vidic is one of our best players and definitely the best defender at the club.

Ofc hes no mug on the ball, if he was he wouldnt be regarded one of the best in the world. All I said was that he wouldnt have done the same in the particular situation I mentioned. Its your extremely defensive mindset about him that made that remark equal to calling him a pub player.

I found that comment a bit ridiculous which is why I commented - it seems though as soon as I make ANY comment it's just ripped into. Thing is, my 'pro-Serb bias' for Vidic is no worse than some posters have for Evans. Maybe even worse in some cases.

Nothing to do with a defensive mindset pal, though I do admit that my pub player comment was a bit too much.

And lastly to the original point, Vidic can and has (many times) made that type of intervention.

So did Nani Nutjob. The only difference is that he lacks the humility to admit that he was wrong about Evans. Unlike almost everyone who has recently posted in this thread after previously writing him off.

I wasnt talking about the clearance in that gif btw, but another incident in the first half.

I didnt try to talk shit about Vidic anyway, it was just a comment about the different styles of defending. Vidic is a more "no nonsense" defender, while Evans might attempt the more "high risk, high reward" solution when clearing the ball. This is also why he will be more prone to errors and blunders than someone like Smalling, who is more in the Vidic-mould of defenders. Evans is more the Rio-type.

Regarding any player and their ability, I always think your trust in them and gut instinct about them is a good guide to how good they are.

Right now, when I see Evans name on the team sheet in central defence ahead of anyone it instils me with confidence. That includes over Ferdinand and Smalling and definitely Jones.

With Evans and Smalling showing what fantastic defenders they are and are going to be, it does make me wonder if we'd accept £20m+ from Madrid for Vidic and replace him with another good young defender. Vidic will be very nearly 31 when he gets back to playing for us next season and although I love him to bits and think he has been the best defender in the world for the past 3 years, with a serious knee injury to come back from, you have to ask if he will be the same player again and he's at an age now where a slow decline is inevitable.

Absolutely delighted for Jonny, been a class act all season and fully deserved a goal!

What a fecking ball from Evans for the third goal.

So happy that's he's got his first goal for us, hopefully that might get him some recognition. He's been really unlucky in the past with near misses, hitting the post etc. I think he's a good defender attackingly so hopefully this will spur him on.

Fantastic to see him score. His game seems to improve immensely when he is confident so scoring could take him to another level.

Brilliant ball to Valencia.

He's always got in positions but fecked it up, now that he's got one I could see him scoring quite a few. And that pass in the build up to the 3rd was lovely

He is in a form of his life right now. Needs to work on winning more aerial balls to complete his potential. Vidic should lend a hand and Evans might be complete

He used to be a prolific scorer at reserve and youth levels, maybe this is the start of something :D

Also would like to add that I have been firmly in the Jonny Evans fan club since day 1 and seems like I was right :smirk:

I was not in his fan club, but I am looking for application. I was so focused on what he was not doing well.

Anybody felt that evans is now viewed as No.1 centre back when ferguson replaced him instead of ferdinand?

Me. Evans getting injured at this stage of the season would hurt us much more than Rio. Rio's still amongst the best defenders in the league, but Evans has clearly been better this season.

If Vidic comes back fine next season, wouldn't be surprised to see Evans and Vidic the main choice for next season.

Love how he didnt really know how to celebrate so just ran haha.

Deserved goal but again another solid day at the back.
Him and Rio work well just like Smalling and Vida works. Compliment each other.

Our players are finding form at the right time. His ball to Valencia was brilliant. Good distribution.

great game great goal great distibution and running off the ball.

No such word. What are you? A communist?

I can actually see him go on to get cult status at the club. Delighted for him to get his goal and you could tell by his expression just how much it meant to him. Anyone think he's going to score a few more between now and the end of the season?

He completely fecked my bet up mind you.

Hernandez FGS, United 5-0 @ 80-1 and Rooney FGS, United 5-0 at 65-1.
