(I did have a look through the first few pages and didn't spot a Stones thread, one probably exists somewhere but I thought with a new season, a new manager and a new playing style a new thread might be merited regardless)
We all know that Jose rates Stones, he pursued him very hard last season but couldn't get the deal done. United now very much need a long term partner for Smalling and Stones may well fit the bill. Many of the early Mourinho transfer target articles have specifically mentioned his desire to sign Stones ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...first-man-utd-battle-for-john-stones-and-nem/ + many others) so it seems that a deal for Stones is very much a possibility this year.
Personally, I love when United sign the brightest young British talent and I will always desire to have an English core to the team when possible. A back 4 featuring Stones, Smelling and Shaw would certainly wouldn't lack young English players. With Rooney, Carrick and Young not getting any younger (or better) it may be time to add some new blood if possible.
Stones obviously has a lot of talent and is still only 21. He had an up and (arguably mostly) down season last year but he still has the makings of a top player, and lets face it, playing for Martinez is hardly ideal for any defenders.
So here is a 2016/17 Stones thread. Would you make a move? I would.
