Joao Felix

He hasnt actually done anything yet, one season in a weaker league and some goals in friendlies doesnt mean he has made it.

For the record I think he will go on to be a great player and I thought we should have been in for him. Huge fee and risk...but lets wait and see how he does ove the next couple of years before doubting the doubters

True enough, it’s pretty daft how seriously people are taking friendlies these days, most of us are guilty of it though, especially when it comes to our academy players.

Of course people will make Kaka comparisons because people just naturally just compare to who he physically looks like, eventhough they are absurdly different in almost every way of form.
Not really, they are different in mostly one significant way, pace&acceleration, though they do have different playing styles. Griezmann is a good comparison in that regard, sure

Like I said months ago, he is the closest player to Kaka I have seen. Going to be a hell of a player.

That was messiesque. Feck the board of my club forever for not holding on to him longer.

Great run. What a talent. Should do well for Portugal in Euro 2020.

I'm just happy City didn't end up with him. He'd have been class in our set up.

Confusing player, does nothing all game then does that out of the blue.
Reckon he'll frustrate their fans.

Signing this kid would’ve been perfect for us. Imagine in 3 years or so an attacking quartet of Inside forwards of Rashford and Greenwood, Martial as the CF and Felix as a roaming 10. Sensational. Shame to miss out on him. Looks incredible.
With the money we got from Lukaku it would have only cost us 40m to sign this kid who will probably be the next Ronaldo Kaka etc.. But no. We have stingy bloody Glazers.

Nah, just a kid.

Those that took the piss out of anybody that saw the potential in this lad are looking daft right now. He's looking like the next big thing.
i suppose, but paying 9 figures for that is crazy.

it's a pity. at city he'd be on the ball alot more often. he would simply glide past players.

Assuming he'd want to actually come to us. 6th place United isn't as appealing as the clubs that would be interested in him.

I remember this friendly international game back a month or so ago where he didn’t perform well and subsequently got destroyed on the caf in his transfer thread.

My interesting story of the day contribution to he forum.

So how do you pronounce his name?Is it Joe Felix or Jo-awe felix or something else?

Already looks better than any of our forwards. Does anyone reckon we can get Timo Werner next summer, or he is Bayern bound like any other talented german?

Amazing run and you can see the super talent he has but bar that run he was poor yesterday. Barely had a touch before that run and did nothing after it before being subbed off for Marcos Llorente. He’ll get better but that was a 4/10 performance tbh.

We're getting Sancho:drool:

Shhh. You're not allowed to think logically with regards to the Glazers and Woodward with these people.

This kid is quality. I though it was bonkers paying that fee this summer, how wrong was I?! :wenger:
You cannot say you're wrong just yet, this is the first game of their season and he was anonymous most of the game. The talent is there obviously but we need to be patient and see how he'll perform all season long.

Yes yes you are right, but I've also seen him in pre season couple of times. The kid looks unfazed and the talent is obvious.

He only went off because he was injured.

Preseason is just for fitness, I don't like to use it as a way to gauge the level of a player or a team. This kid seems very good already no doubt. Time will give a clear picture of his ability

Of course time will tell and yes pre-season is for fitness, but you can clearly see a quality player even if it is in a friendly. Even those friendlies have had a different profile in recent years, with big teams playing more competitive imo but that is for another thread.

The way people are viewing pre-season is becoming ridiculous, its becoming a legitimate gauge of ability for many people now. It's crazy. Every player says that the first competitive game of the season is completely different to pre-season. There's real pressure to win for a start.

Not all the time, I mean Tom Cleverly of all people should be a constant reminder to us all that preseason and competitive football can have little in common.

We've seen it for years how some players have good preseason but disappear completely during the season. It's happened enough times for us to be patient when judging a player. Conclusions have been made after preseason and after 1 or 2 league games. What's the urge ?
Regarding Felix, the talent is blatant but there is no guarantee on how his season will pan out.

Atletico frontline should be much better this season, Costa and Correa were both suspended for yesterday.

Felix, Costa, Morata frontline should be pretty good, that is how they lined up pre season against Real for the 7 - 3.

Well the kid can dribble!

It's hilarious how these days a teenager can't even have a bad game anymore without being slated as being instantly be labeled over hyped or bad by a certain portion of fans. I think people need to get back to noticing that a most players only really reach their prime around the 26/27 year range and will have inconsistencies in their game until then. Messi and Ronaldo are complete outliers in that regard but I feel since those two came along every youngster who is biged up by the media gets immediately judged by the standards that these two set. The truth is we will probably not see another couple of players that are going to be world-class from their early 20s to their mid 30s in a very long time.

I don’t know why everyone is/was so shocked of his transfer fee. He’s a generational talent, everybody else is jealous of Atletico for having him. And his outrageous talent was clear to see to begin with, yet there was huge backlash from people who had probably never seen him play. That money was quite reasonable in the current market.
