Joao Felix / on loan to Chelsea

Funny one is Felix. He's not what we needed anyway, but he's not really what Chelsea need either. The only prem club I see as a good fit for him is Liverpool with that false 9 set up.

From the outside, it looks like a complete circus at Chelsea, and reminds me of the Di Maria, Falcao days at United under Woodward.

you wait until they see The Times now reporting we are still in Enzo Fernandez talks and considering a move for Madueke, another wide forward! While attempting to also complete Thuram deal. Going to be carnage on here
So many almost strikers! 5-5-0 formation to confuse the opposition.

I bet we go into the Chelsea fixture with no new striker and felix has a standout game agains us before going back to average for the rest of the loan

Weghorst will be sorted by then but might end up being a permanent deal now

Even in a circus assembled entourage has definite purpose and role.

it is being reported. my point was theyre more of the same type of player again, bar Enzo Fernandez

Not say it isn't and yes you are better run than us but for the first time in years we look to be going places again

Chelsea are not better run than us ffs. They were under the previous ownership.

I’m just surprised you all seem quite happy about how things are being done at the club.

I said over the summer it was a very odd window and it seems nothing has changed.

We’ve seen similar under Woodward.
Woodward couldn’t get any deal done, as incompetent as they come. We are getting them done. Just not the right players. Would love to know if it’s Todd, Potter or the new scouting dept. Either way I hope it fails like Enzo.

Wasting money on misfit players. There is a similarity.

This reminds me of the early Abramovic days, when Chelsea were making signings just to spite other clubs. They’re as plastic as City in my eyes. Instead of focusing on their glaring weaknesses, they are adopting a scattergun approach, hoping if you fling enough shit (and cash), some of it will stick. Potter is a yes man and won’t have a say in anything, and will be sacked around Easter.

Expect this to go the same way as the Saul Niguez loan.

my bet is that. Boehly has stepped back from sporting director interim

You’re getting deals done because you’re paying over the odds for everyone and giving out 10 year contracts. You don’t even have a DoF or backroom set up so heavens know what you’re doing committing to such deals.

You came here to laugh at United and the Weghorst deal but at least you can see how he fits what we need and how EtH would use him.

A quick Google search tells me he’s got 32 goals and 13 assists in 123 games at Atletico. Is he really that good?

Based on the comments in Redcafe I thought Man Utd fans are desparate for Saudi to take over the club.

I am talking about currently but that can all change under the new ownership

They aren’t being run well at all at the moment. They are just spending daft money on players that they don’t need. There’s no plan, rebuild or strategy.

They are gifting out monster contracts to players and they don’t even have a DoF in post. It’s utterly crazy.

Shame, really wanted him here. Don't think Chelsea is the right move for him though, considering the mess they're in.

Chelsea are a shambles - there’s no way they are better run than us at the moment. We may be poor but we’re not shocking like Chelsea at this current time

If Felix works out with Potter, there is in all likelihood no chance he would sign with someone else next summer if Chelsea want to keep him.

I am a little bummed on losing out on him. Think he would have been perfect in ETHs system and eventually would have been able to take a step down the pitch and do a really good job on the midfield.

How can anyone not think this to be fair? Maybe crap's too strong... but yeah, what's the thing here, he's almost never that great.

Yeah. Talented footballer but a player you can’t pinpoint a position for. Similar to Dybala

Why is that?

I disagree. When Roman took over he had to buy a lot to see what works out and then weed out misfits to build a foundation. Even there they recruited smartly. After that there was definite purpose when adding new. All those trophies is a proof that recruitment worked. Of course he indulged himself every now and then but he never in my memory unbalanced the squad. Then they also bought many to create loan army, which is okay if that was club's vision.

But this! This is sheer craziness by Boehly.

Would have been more bummed losing out if he was going to Arsenal on their current form

They must have a heck of a pitch every time they meet with a player though. Everyone “love their project”. It’s been said in relation to Moukokou too. Chelsea is horrible at enabling 18-19 y/o to take the next step. Easily the worst in football. Why the heck would a big talent 18-19 y/o go there? Like sure, if you are 15-16, you can count on them to make a footballer out of you. Perhaps better than anyone else. But these kids never end up playin for Chelsea.

Potter is playing kids right now, but when Boehly is done spending — non of the kids playing will get any playing time. Would he sit Nkunku on the bench to play a Omari Hutchinson. Someone like Moukokou should look at Chelsea and be anything but impressed, kids — leave — Chelsea to take the next step. Not the other way around. Still he comes away blown away by the project? Haha. Must be a really nice presentation they have.

Remember when they begged CHO to stay on at £120,000 per week and then barely played him as they got their latest toy? Same with RLC, Tomori, Gilmour and countless . Seems like Mount will be the latest casualty from shiny new toy syndrome.

I thought they had about 4 DoF in posts, just under different guises?

Also, I am far from sold on Chelsea’s future compliance with FFP rules. Especially if they miss the CL. Like I have said in the thread in the Man Utd forum, in the summer of 24’ you must comply with the new Football Cost Control Rule. Under it you can only be a minus 60m during the 22/23 season and the 23/24 season. Spending 250m on the transfer market will easily impact your result with a 100m negative per season (salary+amortization). Missing the CL is another 50m. How much did they spend again to hire Potter? 20m? That should not be an asset.

It is easy to sell players if you do well, much harder to get anyone to take on players being so-so for a team that finish No 6 in the standings.
