Joao Felix / on loan to Chelsea

My hunch is this is who ETH wants, and the haggling is playing out in public through the media. The opportunity to link up with Bruno and Dalot is enticing no doubt, especially with Bruno.

So what will actually happen is Chelsea swoop in with a £90m bid when it looks like it’s getting close with United and Felix :p

Spot on.

Or was it £12m? And now we won’t go above 6 for Joao Felix? This club man..
Because that’s just his wages that Atleti don’t want to pay because he doesn’t want to play for them anymore. There’s a loan fee on top of that also.

They can whistle and bend over for once.

They quoted us about £30m for Trippier the other season.

Felix (loan) & Thuram (Perm)?

Would be very surprised if Felix deal would be loan only and not with obligation to buy. I think we would have signed Thuram if we had choice of two players signing. I hope I am wrong though. If we do well in City and Arsenal games, I am hopeful club management would decide to sign Thuram even after signing Felix on loan.
Signing both of them would really put us very strong in this season. We are pretty decent in other areas except for attack with Sancho,Ronaldo out and Martial out of form.

The way it looked (torn ligaments), probably til next January and then we'll probably sell. He'll be injured through the summer.
Such a shame. Just when he started to get some game time too. For whatever reason, it has not worked out for him at all. Like you said, we need to sell him if his contract doesn't end by that time.

Good lad. Mendes should also help considering how much he fecked us with Ronaldo.

Well, tbf he will probably help because this is his best chance to get big money move for Felix in the summer.
Apparently Mendes and Ronaldo are no longer an item.

That would be perfect but where is the board gonna find that £20m plus to make it happen
Hopefully whoever takes over is giving a nod to it.

Not being paying much attention to this one recently but just wondering are Arsenal still not in for him? Particularly when it’s being reported today that Murdryk could end up going to Chelsea.

IMO this would be a hell of a coup

Rumours that Mendes wants it to happen to rebuild relations with United seem plausible too

Too right he should want to as well. Even put out in the media he advised against the piers Morgan interview.

I think Atletico need to get real though. No one is paying a big loan fee AND covering his salary in full, with no option to buy.

If their concern is price, fair enough, but if we are going to eventually do the deal, just do it now and maximize the value of the fee. We'll probably spend the entire month of Jan negotiating, and maybe will exceed at knocking a mil or two off the fee, but if he missed the opportunity to play in the next four games, which include City and Arsenal, then the cost per game could actually go up, 10 mil over 20 games, 500K a game or they get them down to 8 mil at the end of Jan, that's over 16 games and would be the same, 500K a game, so miss out on four big games to essentially pay the same fee or we only get them down to 9 mil, that's now a cost of 562K a game.

But this is the club that to save 10 mil on FDJ they fecked up the Antony deal and added 30 mil.

Apparently Mendes and Ronaldo are no longer an item.

I know, but in general, Ronaldo move from which he still pocketed big money turned out to be a disaster because of his client behavior. Apparently part of the reason why Mendes fecked him off is because of that interview advising him not to burn bridges with us. Which assumes he wanted to stay on good terms with United (quite logical looking from his business perspective). There were even reports that he proposed Felix loan move right after Ronaldo's departure.

Think it will eventually happen.
People are after a pure goal scorer and I understand that sentiment but people forget our final third decision making and sustaining possession in advanced areas is very poor. We saw another example of that yesterday in the first half.
Joao Felix will go some way in helping that.

100%. People can get mad at us not having some pure goal scorer but Martial really only got one great chance created for him yesterday and that was 65 minutes in. Goalscorers can't do much when play breaks down before the ball can get to them inside the box.

Likewise, we were terrible at the end of the game in our decision making as well when we probably could have scored a few more if not for some stupid passes/shots attempted when Bournemouth were out of gas. People wonder how City score so many but much of it is that they rarely pick the wrong option around the box, always finding the correct man in a better position.

Given the circumstances, would be an absolutely perfect signing. The goals he scored against us in 2022 were one of the most enjoyable ones to watch given it was in our net.

I would love to see him operate against the fodder teams, his runs in the box would help us massively.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but when we loaned Sanchez to Inter I thought we paid half of his wages and charged them a small loan fee and while he did'nt work out for us it was not long before that along with Aguero and Hazard they were the three best players in the Premier League.
Why is it that we are being offered such a shit deal compared to what we gave to another club?

Age and wages. Alexis was on £350k (add inflation) a week if I remember correctly.

Well for starters the youthful felix is more of a hot prospect than a past it Alexis Sanchez.

But you're right they're definitely over playing their jand here.

I don't get why we are chasing him, he is another havertz, over rated and he is not going to solve our striker issue of needing someone to put away the chances we create

Felix is a prospect and Alexis was the finished article and it is a six month deal.

Are the chances of us signing him high? I’m not sure. Think unless atl madrid drop the price down then he won’t be going to anyone.

Otherwise it does not make sense why we haven't signed players like Thuram when they are gettable and also available for cheap.
Probably because we’re that skint in January.

Wow if we get Felix and Thuram while avoiding any major injuries to the likes of Casemiro, Varane and Martinez then a title push wouldn't be out of the question.

If we bought Harry Kane tomorrow and it did not work out for him here then would you say the same thing?
Sanchez only scored 2 goals in 27 of his appearances for us, kane has been one of the leagues most prolific scorers for this past few seasons and had a very decent world cup.

It's comparing apples to oranges.

When Sanchez joined us he was the same age as what Harry is now and he averaged about a goal every second game for Arsenal.......it is comparing apples to apples.

But that's not when we loaned him out to Inter, we did so after 2 season of terrible performances by a player that seemed he wasn't even there anymore.

Also he had terrible injury problems(kane has had too but he seems to have evolved his game, and besides this is a felix thread.)

I am well aware of the thread title
The reason why I posted it was because we had a player on our books that a season and a half before we loaned him out was one of the three best players in the Premier League and while it did not work out for him with us it would be silly to say he was past it but he was on huge wages and not getting along with the manager and we had to get rid.
That is the comparison.

Fair enough although we have to agree to disagree somewhat, to my eyes Sanchez didn't seem to be the player he was once was anymore.

Alexis was awful for half a season at Arsenal before he left. Everyone thought he was playing for a move. No, he was done.

Fair enough
I suppose it comes down to how long we give a top player that is out of form that time before we call time on him as a top player and I don't think anyone knows that.
