Between Felix, Martinez and Osimhen I'll take either of Martinez or Osimhen because of their fearless mentality.

Can he finish off chances clinically? Or is he a hit and hope type like Rashford?

Can he hold the ball up to bring the team higher up when attacking? Or does he give away the ball whenever it comes to him like Rashford?

The former.

He'd cost a fortune no? 4 years left on his contract. He isn't a prolific scorer for a forward, 21 La Liga goals in 92 games and before you say "Atletico plays negative football", he's only got 3 goals for Portugal in 23 apps.

I don't see it myself, he'd cost too much and doesn't provide enough goal threat. We should be looking elsewhere.

He’s also quite young too tbh.

And I’m not sure he will cost a fortune. If he would cost a fortune he’d simply be unavailable. It’s like saying Maguire would cost a fortune because he cost £80m and has years left.

I agree.

Is this not another case of his agent bringing United's name into the mix to get other clubs to buy him, as a new contract with Atletico doesn't appear to be the issue with 4 years left on his contract?

I think we would have to pay over the odds for this to happen - however it could be an incredible signing and exactly what ETH is looking for from a "Striker".

Only way to get him for what we would consider a respectable figure, would be for him to throw the toys out and force the move

Portugal play negative football. :p

I don't think he'd cost a fortune tbh. He wants out, the relationship with Simeone appears broken beyond repair and Atleti aren't in a position to demand crazy money, neither is the player who at this point needs to re-launch his career

The transfer cost was 120 Mendillion Euros, dunno how much is that in real Euros. So I agree he won't cost as much as people think.
The potential is still there, and he is actually a player who puts the effort to help the team defending, he's not a lazy primadona. I think the main reason it's that his physique is very fragile: he had tons of small and medium injuries in just two season, which is worrying.

That was in 2019, this is his 4th season, his value for them is much lower than that, and given the situation i don't see atletico being able to demand more than breaking even on him at this point

Btw, million dollar question: Felix - middle name or family name? You can never tell with you portuguese and your byzantine naming conventions

Breaking even as in 120m or breaking even having factored in amortisation?

I mean they should have put it as clouds then. You know maybe the clouds cover the moon before it is revealed. But they put it as pencil and paper.

Your suggestion would actually be confusing because clouds are generally an ominous sign, it would make more sense as the worst tier and would likely be interpreted as such.

It's also a good idea to not use the theme of the tiers when you are making a point that is outside said tiers.

His full name is João Félix Sequeira, which actually doesn't even follows the "traditional convention", which usually is [Given Name 1] [Given name 2] [Mother's family name] [Father's family name]. In rural places a lot of people only had two names (is quite common to find people who are 80+ with just two names as full name). Nowadays only upper and high middle-upper classes care about following those family name conventions.

I would guess Félix comes from his mother's family name.

He seems like a monster on the turn. I imagine Rashford and Antony would get loads of chances in transitions when he turns his man, and slips in a through ball (a bit like Martial did for Rashfords goal Vs Liverpool, and Antony vs Everton).

100M+, for sure and can t lead the attack alone.

Well, he was unplayable when we faced Atletico Madrid last year, but I doubt he can fight do it during a season.

To me he is a player for a 4-4-2

IF we already had that striker in place who could finish the chances then would be all for this signing but sadly we don’t

That was never the mindset, few posters see some random post and then make up things in their mind that "this is the mindset".

We had Rooney, Tevez as CF, before that Saha. After that we had RVP. None of them were big, strong CFs. All of them were technical players with good touch and link up play. Rooney, Tevez, RVP always dropped deep like a 9.5

Then we saw City dominating the league with Aguero as CF.
It's been more of a mindset the past couple years than I can remember, and now people are seeing Haaland dominate and think this is what's needed.

Where exactly do the goals come from if he's playing with Rashford and Antony? Antony is still too early to say, and Rashford blows hot and cold.

You need someone who can score goals in the team. Chance creation hasn't been a big probldm for us recently. He might be like Firmino was to Liverpool, but we don't have goal scorers like Mane or Salah.

Massive backwards step. Just... no? Be great if this was like 2005... but it isn't.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but Portugal also play with the intention of laying chances at one players feet, and it isn’t Felix.

He’s a real talent, he’s going to really make a lot of naysayers (and Simeone for that matter) look very daft

Yeah, just watch Portugal in the world cup. We're not the only team struggling with CR7.

No idea how we can afford the fee to be honest.

I mean, given what you spent on him, you gotta believe Antony will score his share of goals...otherwise what was even the point

Do you ever 'get' jokes or not?

Ok a telescope then

He’s a world class talent. ETH would get the best out of him.
