Why the hell do they need this many CBs?
Preparing for quadruple?
Why the hell do they need this many CBs?
They're just doing what a well run club should be doing, recharging from a position of strength, rather than waiting for it to get stale and ineffective before trying to fix it. Basically doing proper maintenance on your car rather than only repairing it after it's broken down. Why the hell do they need this many CBs?
Ya ya ya!!Preparing for quadruple?
Wrong FSP is the new Financial sustainability period and if you pay the debt off you effectively prevent the club from paying interest payments to service the debt. The new FSP which starts this summer allows 90% of sales revenue to be be spent on Financisls(that’s profit and loss, and whether the club has a debt and how it services their debt), Net transfer fees and upfront Agent Fees and Finally wages all these costs must be no more than 90% of our turnover which is yet to be finalised until end of this month.I’m afraid the FFP regulations are based on revenue numbers, so it don’t make any difference if the new owner pays off the debt and puts 250m in the bank - FFP regs will still only look at % of revenue.
They already have 4 centre backs in Dias, Stones, Akanje and Ake to be fair so they don't need to replace Laporte if they don't want to, would make sense for them to sign a couple of full backs instead.Laporte's replacement is my guess. Pep is ruthless
Pep doesn't need full backs anymore. They already have 4 centre backs in Dias, Stones, Akanje and Ake to be fair so they don't need to replace Laporte if they don't want to, would make sense for them to sign a couple of full backs instead.
Preparing for quadruple?
Pep has been very open in his interviews recently that his thinking has changed on what his defence should be built on with regard to fullbacks who are much more solid defensively. With Stones already he has moved away from an inverted fullback to a ball playing CB sitting in both FB slots, with the exception of Walker occasionally this year when he specifically wanted pace. Why the hell do they need this many CBs?
Wasn't meant to be serious, mate. But i like this below post analogy. They dont play with traditional fullbacks. They play with centre halfs at fullback based on their dominant foot - Akanji/Ake LB, even seen Stones at RB on occasion.
The concept of 'fulbacks' and certainly 'wingbacks' dont exist at City.

Ragnick's top recommendation when he joined us and we ignored him.If this guy is available why would we plump for KMJ and give city a free run at him? He’s a beast!
Our scouts and football hierarchy must be bloody brilliant…. Oh wait!Rangnick's top recommendation when he joined us and we ignored him.
Maybe because one costs about 40m and the other nearly 100m.If this guy is available why would we plump for KMJ and give city a free run at him? He’s a beast!
Jesus - imagine doing the treble and then bringing in Rice and Gvardiol for good measure. These lads are not being complacent.

Ideally this is what should be done. Easier to consolidate from a position of strength rather than wait for things to go downhill then try to pick them up again.
Don't believe Ragnick's PR. It's like Wenger who nearly signed everybody under the sun.Rangnick's top recommendation when he joined us and we ignored him.
This.Going from strength to strength. No way he is worth that much, but they don't even care.
As a Croat, wish both him and Kovacic nothing but miserable few years at a club level.

You are saying this. But people in the Pep threads genuinely give him credit for getting the best out of Stones and Grealish Such cheap hidden gems!Pep's eye for talent is exceptional to be fair, another astute unknown for a cheap price on a tiny wage.
Its not PR, there were 4 recommendations, we acted on none of them. Easy to google.Don't believe Rangnick's PR. It's like Wenger who nearly signed everybody under the sun.
And Kovacic.Jesus - imagine doing the treble and then bringing in Rice and Gvardiol for good measure. These lads are not being complacent.
It's shit for the league to City strengthen to such ridiculous levels, just tossing money out meaninglessly.
