João Mário

A.Pereira is the one who should be worried about this deal, really. And I really rate João Mário as a wide playmaker.

That's a good point. You could see how Mourinho could use a player like Joao Mario who's probably better going forward than Herrera and more versatile and defensively aware than Lingard, for when we play 4-3-1-2 (especially if we sign someone like Ozil, Griezmann or Forsberg to play as a 10) or for the 5-3-2 I still think is likely our best formation for the Champions League, but spending 40M on Mario instead of just giving Pereira a shot at that specific role seems like a bad idea.

I could see a loan deal where we take Mario for the rest of the year and Inter takes Mkhitaryan being a good idea, but that's about it.

Get Icardi instead of this Portuguese guy if they want miki[/L

 Aye sure let’s get Zanetti while we’re at it.

Seriously, Inter will sell Icardi for about 200 million euros or whatever his buy out clause is. As much as I’d love it - we’ve not a hope. Unless, some at Man Utd actively wants him.

There are two Inter players worth buying and we were priced out of one of them in the Summer. Icardi would cost an insane amount of money too and while he's great it's still a bit of a risk.

Mario is very mediocre. Carries the ball well but not as good defensively as you'd expect. Similar to Ramires at Chelsea. Good signing for the squad but not someone we should be looking to elevate us.

Don't know if this guy is the answer. He is not someone who can dominate games with his passing. He loses the ball a lot and don't score enough. We need someone who is a magician at opening up defences. Angel Gomes would be better.

Would be decent squad option at the right price. We’re very short of numbers in the middle of the pitch.

Loaned to West Ham, feel like it's not a great career move and that Inter wasted him. He has a particular set of skills and needs to play in certain positions to excel but he's a great footballer.

It's inexcusable how bad he is in front of goal though.

This doesn't even make it justice. Terrible year all round for portuguese players right before the World Cup, Ronaldo's off form, João Mário's shipped off, Bernardo Silva is warming the bench, Nani rarely plays, Guerreiro was injured, Pepe's playing in Turkey, Fonte's on West Ham's bench, Adrien missed half a season, André Silva has 0 Serie A goals, André Gomes is André Gomes... William and Gelson have been playing like crap too. We're going to end up geting knocked out by Morocco

Saw him when Portugal were playing in the Euros. Did not really stand out to be honest.

He's not the kind of player to stand out but he was actually pretty good in the Euros. He played a great final despite getting no praise for it, I'll never forget the effort he put in at the end of extra time.

He's definitely a shy person and that carries on to the pitch, he's lacking that personality and irreverence that takes players to another level.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on at West Ham. He has never looked special but he is no Renato Sanches, I would expect him to add a lot of industry and a bit of quality to their midfield. Nice pick up by Moyes.

For some reason I quite like him, might have to tune in and watch West Ham

I think he's a fantastic player. Much better than Rafinha.

I was hoping we'd swoop in for him because, in my opinion, he'd have been a good partner to Matic and Pogba. I'll probably try and catch a few West Ham games now.

I think he is overrated, at least for Inter he was garbage. Reminds me of The Renato Sanches situation, good in and for Portugal, terrible elsewhere. Dont think he will do anything of note at West Ham. He might have a decent technique and some good level, but what's the point if you cant show it most of the time. Players that need a specific setup or environment to thrive in are frustrating and he wont get it in England

David Moyes brought Arnautovic back to a decent level, so who knows. Never underestimate the Moyesiah. He can get some players to improve at times

Sanches I never rated (even when everyone was raving over his Euro performances) but Mario has so much potential. Honestly get D.Silva vibes from him and, like @Peyroteo said, I feel like Inter wasted him. Him and Brozovic always looked the part as CMs yet they (mainly Mario) never really got a run despite playing well.

I've been wanting Inter to play a 3 of Valero, Brozovic and Mario for ages but Mario and Brozovic aren't (didn't in Mario's case) getting a look in despite Vecino and Gagliardini failing to impress (in my opinion) and playing Valero as a #10 even though he's better deeper dictating the play.
