Ji Sung Park to Bayern Munich?

Don't see any benefit to selling him. He's a solid big game performer who has shown his worth over and over again. Not to mention the marketability aspect.

load of bollocks, couldnt see him swapping us for sevilla unless he had no choice and was surplus to requirements which we all know he isnt.

How longs left on Schweinsteigers contract? Could there be any possibility Fergus might be tempted to use him as makeweight in any attemps to sign the Schweinie?

Wait I thought Sevilla were interested in signing Park.

Sevilla are plotting an audacious bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.

The South Korean has enjoyed a resurgence at Old Trafford following a slow start to the season.

He particularly impressed with his match-winning performance in United's 2-1 win over Wolves this month, where he scored both of the goals including an injury time winner.

According to the Daily Mirror, Sevilla director of football, Ramon Rodriguez has been watching the 29-year-old and is ready to table a bid for him during the January transfer window.

The report also claim that the Spanish club's technical director Victor Orta flew in to England last week to meet Park's representatives.

Sevilla's interest in the midfielder is likely to test United's resolve and show how much Sir Alex Ferguson value him in his squad.

But Ferguson could be tempted to cash in on him given his age and raise funds to bring in a world-class midfielder such as Bayern Munich's Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Park was signed from PSV Eindhoven for £4million in 2005 and has played over 100 games for United, scoring 15 goals.

I think he will move on at the end of the season, mainly because of the 25 man squad cap rules.

By my reckoning we have 27 players players to register next season (this seasons 24 + Cleverley, Smalling and Obertan). Speculating a bit here, but i can see that number being trimmed to about 22 to allow 3-4 new signings and i think Park is one of those very much at risk. Especially with the likely emergence of Cleverley and Welbeck as genuine attacking wide options for us.

We wouldn't need to register Smalling at the beginning of next season because he will be 21 until next November. Cleverly and Obertan, yes we have to register them because they turn 22 before September 1st next year.

1st January is the critical date, not september.

For next season, the 2011/12 campaign, Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1990.

Smalling dob: 22/11/89

Wouldn't sell him, he is an excellent servant and has proved he can be useful.

It's quite possible Kuszczak, VDS, Neville, Scholes, Giggs and Owen will all be going in the Summer so there's a possible 6 places.

You'll never find such a quality player like Park who is willing to sit the bench when we required for the betterment of the team. He's a class act and someone who deserve to retire here with a huge standing ovation. At 29 with his three lungs we can still find a use for him in his 30s. It used to be his stamana that was key but now it's his direct playing style, finding and opening space.

You don't seem like you'd be at all disappointed if he was to leave?

Gary Neville and Van Der Sar are basically odds on for retiring at the end of this season. Both Owens are likely to be released, Kuzszcak will probably go and its likely that one or both of Scholes and Giggs will retire too.

There is plenty of room for him

At this rate, Ober is probably on his way out.

Park has what? 2 years left on his contract. I won't be surprised if this is a stunt by his agent to get United negotiating.

2 of which will be taken up by goalkeepers (Lindegaard + 1 likely), and also we have the return of loanees Cleverley, Welbeck, De Laet and 'The one'. I think we can also assume that we'll probably sign at least a couple of new players to freshen things up a bit.

I'd miss him of course. He's been a reliable squad player for us for a number of years and seems like a decent lad to have around the place. At the same time, I think we could still manage without him.

I just think people are underestimating the effect that these regulations will have on the club in the next couple of years. We've a serious amount of promising young players on the fringes of the first team squad and inorder for them to be registered in the next couple of seasons (when they hit 21), I think we could find a couple of surprise exits of more established squad players that we deem expendable. Park will be 30 in February and has emerging players like Cleverley, Welbeck and Obertan to challenge him for a place in attacking wide positions. We could still get a decent fee for him in the summer so I don’t think its out of the question that he could leave. He also doesn’t have the advantage of being classified as 'home grown' that some of our other squad players like of Brown/O'Shea/Gibson etc have.
