If he gets plenty of minutes (I think he will) and plays well (I'm less sure of that) then I think he'd be more interested in Newcastle coming back than renewing with us.
Can’t wait for Lingard and Pogba being talked about like new signings.
No way he’ll get a new deal. I’m willing to bet very good money he scores a winning goal in a big game between now and the end of the season though.
Just ship him off, it's getting a bit ridiculous. Don't see him much of a replacement for Greenwood either as i´d expect Mejbri to be in the mix for ou.
Would also include Pogba into that mix, as I think he's at his best on the left. I see no reason in keeping Lingard because of what happened yesterday with Greenwood.

Yep, one good moment this season - correct. Before that? July 2020. Before that? December 2018. So at this rate we should be due another good moment somewhere around 2023... when he's long gone?
Ultimately, if you think a Lingard that doesn't even want to be here as cover on the RW could be what gets us over the line then fair enough, I'll just have to hope that you're right.
The crazy part is, I'm not even saying he's a useless player... He's just not cover for the area in which a hole has just been created.
The key thing is he won't be at Old Trafford after this season, unless he's given an extension as first team coach. Being a 'consultant' doesn't mean anything. His consultancy could amount to the odd email from the Costa del Sol. We've never been given any details of what the role will consist of, and Rangnick was clear in his first presser that it was undefined.
The club is going to continue to be run as it has since Fergie retired. The consultancy thing is pure PR. As is our Football Director who doesn't do anything. People saying we can't sign players because we don't know who the coach will be. Do you think Monchi would hesitate to sign a player if he knew Lopetegui was going? No. Monchi is a proper Football Director. He signs players to suit an idea and he brings in coaches he knows will be able to make that idea a reality. We're not signing players because John Murtough is not a proper Football Director. He's a placeholder, a human shield for the Board, a dogsbody who does the stuff the Board considers beneath them like sorting out the women's team or the youth team.
Lingard is just another example of a Rojo, a Romero, a Darmian, a player held for too long in the hope of an unrealistic transfer fee. Its happened before. It'll keep happening. Until we get serious as a club this is how it will be.
Fortunately for Lingard, Rangnick has already said he sees Pogba as a midfield player. So I don't think Lingard will have to compete with Pogba for a spot. However, I really see it as a toss up between him and Mata as fourth choice wide player.
Lingard was told, this morning, for the second time, that Rangnick was happy to see him gone. Clearly he is not counting on him in any shape or form. What does that do to the dynamic between Rangnick and Lingard now? Rangnick will say: 'To get into my team everyone has to train hard.' However, Lingard must be thinking: 'Why train hard when you've already told me, twice, you're happy to see me go? I'm obviously not even your first, second or even third choice.'

No. Before that 9 goals and 4 assists in 16 PL games in a very fluid West Ham frontline and 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 England appearances. He was wide right numerous times in many of those appearances. Any more questions?
Wouldn't be surprised if the board don't want to do business with Newcastle, I'm sure they can see what's coming in the near future with them and don't want to aid in the come up even if it comes across petty and unfair to the player. I'm sure there's more than a couple of clubs that want to see them relegated this season to slow the roll.
If that is the case, then he's a bad coach. His job as interim is to use everything at his disposal to salvage top 4.

This seems to be getting to you quite a bit. He started once from the left for West Ham by the way, 0 starts from the right.I doubt he gets too many minutes. If we assume he can play in one of the front 4 positions, id say he's behind the following in the current pecking order:
- Cavani
- Ronaldo
- Rashford
- Sancho
- Bruno
- Pogba
- Elanga(possibly just due to transfer situation in January, possibly for good)
We had a £3mil loan fee agreed, could have met Newcastle half way with the relegation survival bonus and called it a £5-6mil fee in total. Surely they would have paid that. Its farcial as RR said off you go son only for the board to block it.
That is a separate issue though, we did not get a bid for 15Million or any other sum for that matter in the summer. We did get agree a fee for a permanent move this window only for Jesse to turn it down so it is all on him at this point. I would loan him out at this stage personally but I also have no sympathy for him as his antics created this situation in the first place.
If Rangnick sticks with 4-3-3 I don't even think Bruno being unavailable will do Lingard any favours. He's not an #8 of any kind. Bruno, Pogba, Fred, McTominay, Mejbri are all ahead of him. I think its more like we'll see Matic at #6 and McTominay at #8 than see Lingard get a run of games in midfield.

I don't know who made the call to keep him but it was a terrible one. But then again we are the club that gave Marcos Rojo a new contract in the hope of a transfer fee, only to give him away. Old habits die hard, eh?

I'm not inside Rangnick's head but I don't see Jesse starting ahead of Rashford, Sancho or Elanga any time soon. Effectively Jesse will be vying with Mata to make up the numbers on the bench and/or play cup games if we draw weaker opposition.

According to West Ham they never made a bid at all. The usual journalists did say we valued him around 25 to 30 million and also reported that West Ham felt that 7 million was more realistic but ultimately no actual talks took place and Jesse came out fairly early on in the window to say he did not want to leave followed by the now widely reported chat between Moyes and Ole. It looks for all the world as though West Ham were well aware that Jesse had just had a purple patch and his normal form was nowhere near that level so they did not have that much interest in making it a permanent deal.

No, I just think there's a difference between Rangnick wanting him to go, vs being okay with it. The latter would suggest that the board are the ones handling this part of the business, while keeping in touch with the manager. This makes more sense than allowing RR to be in complete control and then blocking one of his wishes.
I'm not defending the club btw, but for whatever reason they feel having him around is now more important than the few mil.
I think keeping him is sensible. If Bruno gets injured we literally have no one to play his role. Lingard is a good alternative and will be playing for a big contract in the summer

Not quite. What Moyes said was he spoke to Ole and Ole said that Jesse was in his plans and he wanted to keep him. Moyes is being crafty when he shares this story as he would well know from his own experiences as Manchester United manager that the decision was not down to Ole and if they were serious he could have been had. Ole would tell you he would rather cut off his left nut than sell Dan James but when Leeds came knocking with a serious offer Woody couldn't cash the cheque fast enough.
I think unless Rangnick wants to promote players from the youth to fill in at the wing forward roles, then it's probably wise to keep hold of Lingard for a few more months. Because the only viable options we have at the wing forward roles are the inexperienced Elanga, Rashford and Sancho, who hasn't set the world alight. The rest of the options like Pogba mentioned above are poor in defensive transitions and would easily be bypassed if Rangnick wants to implement the wide pressing trap.
Will be devastated if he’s still here tomorrow, have bought party food and bunting in anticipation of him doing one.
