Jesse Lingard

Another wage thief. If we give him a new contract we truly are a bunch of fecking mugs.

New contract only weeks away. PROTECT THE VALUE.

I would rather sell Martial to be honest since he won't play as no 9 over Ronaldo and Cavani and could be below Pogba and Rashford in pecking order on left side. Lingard is better for extra body option, he's on 75k p/w while Martial is on 250k p/w. Selling Martial will open our chance to buy new midfielder.

7 players on the bench no?
Henderson
Lindelof
Telles
Bailly
Matic
DVB
Cavani
Martial
Greenwood

There is 9 above. Depends how we line up in cm also. As there is Fred Mctom and Pogba for 2 positions so one of those 3 will be on the bench also
What’s the point in having 2 cbs and 3 strikers?
Maybe that’s a different convo.

give him away and pay half his salary till his contract wit us is over

He shouldn't be happy hanging around at Utd, he should be getting his agent to find him a club asap.

be ridiculous if we cant get a deal done for him after a pretty successful loan spell at WHU. Between him and james we could easily get in that DM we desperately need

Wesh Ham are willing to pay 15m, but our board have priced him at 25m. Of course Jesse is not going to make a fuss, he is in a good position, it is our board that is being dumb.

I don't mind him staying until January, because I do still prefer him to Martial. But my god if we really do give him an extension... it will be inexcusable.

I would like him to leave if it means a CM comes in with the money

But I don’t see the desire (from a fan perspective) to want him gone if we aren’t signing anything else anyway.

Im sure he will do alright as a backup to Fernandes and playing some Europa and Domestic Cup matches

I feel for him because it's his home, but it's over and United need to be fecking reasonable.

Agree with all this.

Im all for selling James and Lingard for a CM but if the club is done bring players in no matter how many players we sell I'd rather keep Jesse. He is a decent back up as a AM over a long season. I know I'm the minority on this one.

If Fernandes is taking a rest (or injured) Pogba is the most likely person to slot at CAM anyway. For games we don't care about (I guess league cup and early FA cup?) there's also Mata.

He just isn't that needed, like he wasn't last year. James leaving has no bearing since we signed both Sancho and Ronaldo.

That's surely not true... We'd be fecking daft if it is!

£15m for Lingard would be fantastic

It's just wasted money and (if you see it in the context that the Glazers allow a percentage of the profits to be converted into player signings, then) keeping Lingard means less profits means less money for transfers next year. Even if we sign no one this year.

The lad's salary is £100k pw. That's £5.2m for the year. If he can get a transfer out even for just £15m, then that's £20m saved on him. His few appearances won't be worth £20m to us. But that money could be nicely added to the transfer budget next season for a couple of good CM/DMs and a striker.

I don't really understand what he wants to achieve. He has been called to the England squad but Im sure if he doesn't start games, he will be dropped. So why do you want to stick around if your whole professional targets are in jeopardy. Maybe he can replace Fred?

this season clubs are allowed to have 9 subs, so there might a spot for him in the bench, not sure though with options we might have available

This is the same board that had clubs willing to pay for Rojo, and in all those instances kept asking for more rather than just doing the deal and getting what they could. In the end he went for free.

Yes, they are that daft.

Sometimes in life you need to know when to quit.

Obviously I liked Lingard but he's never going to a starter at United. He's just had a brilliant loan spell with West Ham that went so well that it got him into contention for the England squad. West Ham fans are desperate to have him back, whilst United fans are ambivalent about him staying. He's 28 now and he could have a brilliant last 4 or 5 years of his peak years at West Ham, instead of being a squad player at United.

He needs to move for his own sake.

He probably cares more about the status of being a United player and his friends here than getting more game time

I'm still shocked how there's not one single club in the EPL willing to pay 30M for him, I mean by the way some clubs spend I expected this one to go smoothly...I'm looking at you Arsenal.

No space for him in the squad.

Cavani
Ronaldo - Bruno - Sancho

Martial
Rashford - Donny - Greenwood

Not even taking into account half of them can play in multiple positions. We have too many players.

I'll be disappointed if he stays. He shoulf have left a few years ago. Thought when he went on loan that would be the end of him at United.

I think Ole should be more ruthless in this instance.

The problem is that Ole seems to prefer him to Donny.

seeing that we're actually getting 30m for James according to the Telegraph, it stings that there's apparently won't be a Lingard sale. Him and James might have actually helped finance a midfielder, but oh well.

I can't see him leaving Martial Greenwood or Cavani out. That's 3 plus a gk makes. 4. 3.spots available for Lindelof Mctom/Fred Bailly Telles
Huge squad. Need to cut a couple. James and Lingard would be good to go

No way Ronaldo plays off the left. Starting 3 when fit will be Rashford Ronaldo Sancho, although I would rather have Greenwood instead of Rashford

I didn't know that. Still only 3 can come on right. I just don't see him getting minutes when everyone is fit. On top of yesterday's squad there is Telles Mctom Rashford and Ronaldo to come in. He couldn't even get on yesterday

At one point I thought 10m would be a great business. What are we asking? 25! I don't think anyone would pay that much for Lingard.
