I don’t find this funny at all. Just last week we have had a campaign during the FA Cup which is concerning mental health in football. A couple of weeks before this Lingard came out and said how he’s been struggling mentally due to things going on in his personal life.

Yes, he’s been very poor recently on the playing field but the amount of abuse and bullying he has received on social media recently is nothing short of disgraceful.

The amount of abuse and bullying us fans receive on social media as a result of his continued shite isn’t nice either.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him. Don't get me wrong, he's fecking shit and seems to be getting worse, and his daft snapchat videos haven't helped him, but it must be fecking horrible being bantered by pretty much everyone. Is there a bigger laughing stock in world football right now than him? Mate of mine is a Burnley fan and he said in our whatsapp group last night that Lingard wouldn't start for them. The fact that a player is starting for United who probably couldn't get a game for Burnley is really damning.

He's clearly lacking confidence and as a result he's nowhere near his best.

Let's be honest though, even at his absolute best, the days of the "Messi Lingod" memes, even then he was about midtable standard.

I hope he gets a move abroad and rediscovers his form, because I do feel for the guy and as long as he stays in England he's always going to be a banter player. Somewhere like Marseille/Monaco could be a good move for him. He'd have to drop his wages though.

Although I agree with your general point, maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how that tweet is anything serious. A cheap shot indeed but nothing like the abuse he'd directly receive

It's gotten to a level that I don't even want to point out how ludicrous this whole situation is. It's nothing to do with Lingard anymore this blatant favoritism is not benefiting him and doing more harm actually, it's all on Ole, absolute madness that he still plays him, he should be sacked for that alone.

The reason he became a Meme is Ole. If only we had a competent coach Lingard would have been shown the door a long time ago or wouldn't have seen any game time at all. To anyone with a pair of eyes Lingard was never good enough even to be a squad player but we insisted on making him a focal point of our team instead both from game time and salary perspective. We're a banter club that was swallowed by people full of sentimentality and nostalgia.

Yeah, good point. There are still people who want Lingard to get back to his best and be a good player for Manchester United. I just dont think it is possible. He scored some good important goals but was he ever a really good player? He was okay-ish during the Messi Lingod period but usually the player at his position is one of the better players in the team. Lingard should never be one of the better players in a team if you want to win the Premier League or another big trophy.

Im not sure where he should go to. I assume clubs like Monaco or Marseille have better players. For example if he went to our shitty Eredivisie he wont start for Ajax, PSV and AZ i think. Another thing is that if he went to Spain he wouldnt be praised for 'running' and pressing because their culture is more about technical football and that isnt really Lingard's best attribute.

Is a sorry state of affairs when you think that Manchester United's starting #10 wouldn't start for AZ fecking Alkmaar

Exactly. It's going way to far. He's always done his best and worked hard. He deserves more respect.

Imagine if we had a Bernardo Silva as a number 10 instead of Lingard. I was in awe of how good Bernardo is on the ball, absolute world class baller.

0 goals & 0 assists is his best?
He isn’t being bulllied at all. No one would want that, but this is a guy who putS himself all over social media boasting, giving it large, shagging pillows. He cant really complain when he eventually gets called out for his work on the same platform.

You think he doesn't want to play better? He has always been among the hardest working and running in the squad, he is a Man Utd fan too. He is just not very good. Had a few decent spells but his usual self is poor for this level. I can't hold someones lack of talent against them, he tries, but trying is not enough for this level.

This is a guy who launched a 'clothing line' a few days before we played Liverpool a few seasons ago, and someone who has become an Instagram influencer on the back of being at the club (when he shouldn't even be here to start with). All this while pocketing £100k per week and now partnering up with the agent the club probably hate the most. Why should anyone feel sorry for him?

Has he actually signed on with Raiola? I just see unreliable sources like mail, metro etc going with it.

He surely can't be that brain dead to sign up with an agent who is openly spewing shit about United out in the open, even dragging SAF into it, and surely Ole or United will have the sense not to play him after such a move...

Was the main ticker on Sky Sports News a few days ago, so not sure they would report it as fact unless it was correct.

First reliable source to report it. Looks like it's true. He's stupid.

"unease", "concerns about the longer-term future" ... wtf?! Does the club actually "fear" losing him? Dear god.

Aftee the 0.0012% post, he lost any ounce of possible sympathy. You want to boast about being an EPL footballer as if that automatically excuses you of any and all criticism, then you're only rubbing people up the wrong way and are going to be slaughtered.

How come no one worries about Pogba's feelings when the whole nation is constantly on his back relentlessly?

My anger and bemusement isn't aimed at Lingard, it's towards Ole. It's a dereliction of duty at this point from Ole to continually pick him. There's out of form, and then there's this guy. He doesn't' even resemble a footballer at this point. His confidence is shot to bits, he's almost playing as if he's doubting himself and he's a detriment to the team.

The last thing we need at the moment is someone like that playing for us. Yet, Ole continues to pick him. I just don't get it. It's really, really poor management.

It's because a good portion of our fanbase and ex players can be quite xenophobic. 'Homegrown' players are afforded and insane amount of leeway and sympathy in comparison to the foreigners in the squad who have the hounds come out in force after any slip up real or percieved

Yeah i don't like it either. However, and i'm not turning this into an Ole bashing thread, I don't think he should be being picked constantly if he is having these problems. Give him a month or two out of the firing line. Surely performances in the past month and people getting on his back even more is going to increase the pressure. I know our squad is limited but Mata and Peirera can play the 10 role (and do a slightly better job). He won't exactly be missed.

Jose: My Lukaku shall always play.
LVG: My Rooney shall always play.

... Why does this keep happening to our club? What have we done to deserve it??
Ole
De Gea shall always play even when shit and giving away goals.
Mctominay shall always play even when injured
Maguire shall always play even when injured and in poor form.
Lingard shall play after being sick and also having been terrible in the past games.
Pogba shall always play when we are 3-1 up at home against Newcastle

Sir Alex knew to play the in-form players and he had them in abundance because of the depth we had, and the quality players in our starting 11 that could be relied upon week after week.

Ole simply doesn't have any of this going on... he's out of his depth and so is our entire coaching staff and management it would seem. Lingard is merely a symptom, albeit a rotten one, of the overall decline we've been seeing for years.

That post from Corby Town isn’t bullying.

Like I said previously Lingard brings this on himself. If he didn’t do stupid celebrations or stupid shit on social media he wouldn’t be ridiculed as much. You always set yourself up when you start doing stupid dance celebrations.

Fans have had enough of the cowards performances. He’s protected in the media. Every time we hear he’s young and learning. He knows the club and all that other bollocks. Oh and he runs a lot because only apparently English players can do that.

You mean live in Marseille, Monaco or Warrington ??

I can imagine him....' Now let me think about that.....OK, Warrington it is '

Cant say i feel sorry for him that people make fun of his footballing performances... he lost any sympathy i had when he posted and was bragging about that 0.001%.

Exactly. We've all suffered him the last couple of seasons. He's made a point of acting like a compete dickhead and even though it wound me up the wrong way it didn't really bother me until his 0.001 comment. Since then the hatred has started and now all I see is an arrogant little prick. He wants to play with fire then let him get his fingers burnt.

Then he can feck off with the cnut. Geez. Can't believe Ole still keeps playing him after that, unbelievable.

'Met with considerable unease'?

If Fergie was here he'd been lucky to be playing in the reserves after a move like that.

The article says the partnership has sparked concerns about the player’s long term future at the club, shouldn’t the fact he’s not very good be what sparks concerns?

This has to be rock bottom for him, being terrible enough to be bantered by a Southern league division one central club

It’s not his fault that he keeps getting starts and getting played. But maybe this kind of banter will finally get Ed Woodward’s attention and he will start to question Ole on Lingard. Because Giggs,Neville, Ferdinand and others in the media have NEVER criticized him. This is what happens to an over-protected shit player. Truth finally gets out and it’s ugly.

Hiding from the ball isn’t trying in my opinion. I don’t know why people equate running around = trying hard. His just looking busy. He isn’t even running around that much either, nothing like Tevez & Rooney use too. Someone like Carrick for example who didn’t “run around” much would you say he wasn’t trying his best when he was playing?

Running around pointlessly chasing for the ball seems to be the mentality that English fans love to see from the players, hence you rarely see fans complaining about Rashford in comparison to Martial for similar performances.

The article wouldn't know shit for shoe polish regarding the internal runnings at United. It is merely a reporter putting Raiola's comments last week against Lingard signing with him....

Again, if United were serious he'd already have another Contract considering there was talk around the time Rashford's was being negotiated and then it all dissapeared.

It's the Wellbeck / Cleverly story again. Academy player who runs around a lot and keeps getting picked for some mysterious 'skillset' which is never actually displayed on the pitch. Such players always remain 'young' and the breakthrough performance is always just around the corner. When it becomes impossible to dust the shiteness under the carpet the narrative is changed to how at a different club under a different manager this player will blossom.

Lingard never reached their level, not even half of it. At least these two were useful for a big period when we were one of the best teams in Europe, unlike the laughing stock we have become the last 5 years.

Exactly. It's going way to far. He's always done his best and worked hard. He deserves more respect.

Disagree.

People keep saying he "works hard", so what does he have to show for it? If he is a hard worker then why did he stop improving and decline since 2 years ago? Why did his shooting technique, his dribbling technique, his passing technique all decline at that rate when he's just 27? What did he do in training?

FYI running around a lot is not working hard. Cristiano is an incredibly hard worker but his "distance covered" stat is nothing to write home about.

What exactly did he do to "deserve more respect"? Respect is earned not granted. Lingard deserves no respect in my eyes.

Lingard is the most declined player in our team (at only 27), improve on zero skill since he become a mainstay in our squad, put in shit performance after shit performance while also being the most active in social media among our player and the only one in our team to own a clothing line, but in some people's eyes he is a "hard-working player" and always "try his best"?

Lingard is not a victim in any way whatsoever (funny how his sob story works on some people). He's playing at an unacceptable level and still takes home 100k per week.
