I have no illusions about him and his abilities. He is an average player, "bench player". Every team need a player like him. He doesn't moan about his position in the squad, agrees to get a little playing time and does anything what manager tells him to do. Lingard fights for the club and ready to do anything for it. He is a usefull one. Yeah, Lingard behaves like a school child when he is out of football, annoys with his stupid Instagram photos and videos but this is irrelevant untill he does his job well and he exactly does it.

Based on him completing the easy passes to keep our attack flowing. Michy hasn't been making any creative passes for a while now and in addition to that he has forgotten how to complete even 5 yard passes

Michy on form and in general I'd choose over lingard any day any time but this version of michy we've been stuck with the past few weeks now despite enough chances to rectify his form?

I'd choose lingard 'cause I know I won't get anything creative from him but at least he won't stop our attacks with his uncanny ability to find the opposition basically every single time
He offered nothing. I don't even want to compare him to Mkhitaryan, he had a start and a chance to prove he is a better option than the Armenian, he only proved he is useless.

I would also prefer neither to start, but if I have to choose one of them, Mkhitaryan would be an easy choice.

Just to be clear, do you mean the current version of michy that gifts possession to our opponents or anywhere else apart from his teammates?

Arguing about who is better out of Lingard and Mkhitaryan is like comparing a used condom to a dirty nappy. Both are horrible and only fit for the bin.

That same Mkhitaryan was an improvement on the nonexistent Lingard in the match against Benfica, so yeah I’d rather he start. There is that slight chance he would create or make something happen, with Lingard you know you ain’t getting shit.

Fair enough, seems we just view things differently. Cherios mate

Does lots of good things but not consistent enough in front of goal. He should definitely play whenever we are at Wembley, he is a different player at Wembley.

Should amongst others be upgraded on in the attack in the summer.

Wonder if he could be reinvented as a RWB in a 3-5-2 \ 3-4-1-2 like Moses and Valencia.

@Kostov, just saw that lingard has created more chances than michy playing exactly the same position this past month and that's supposed to be michy's edge over lingard.. creating chances

Is this image correct? Martial has more minutes than Rashford?

That is a very useless stat that shows feck all. You don't need to have some kind of edge over Lingard really, he offers nothing. Based on that Lingard creates more than Rashford, and Darmian creates as much as Young, which is ridiculous.

I don't want to defend Mkhitaryan cause he's been very poor, but Lingard has been equally as shit his entire career here. Apart from 5-10 games where he has scored some nice goals, he's showed he has no business playing for Manchester United and ultimately you know what you are getting with him. With Mkhitaryan at least you can hope he's in the mood and gives us that spark we need from our creators.

Finally the blame lies on those who did the planning and we went into a season where most fans expect us to go and win the League, while we rely on a very inconsistent Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard. That is not good enough and it will cost us probably.

1 chance created in 3 games for an attacking player is still very poor, especially for Man United.

Exactly, it is like groundhog day for us. We persist with the same sub-par players season after season and expect things to change attacking wise.

Our attack bar Rashford, Martial and Lukaku has had their chances, time to shake things up.

I agree, if we continue with Mata, Mkhitaryan and Lingard in the squad I don’t think we will win anything major. Mata and Mkhitaryan are inconsistent and Lingard is bang average. He isn’t even young anymore either, he is 25 next month.

I get where you're coming from as with michy you can hold out hope that he produces magic but with lingard you have no hope of such at all so I get you

What I was trying to pass across with the stats though is that I feel lingard has been better than this version of michy but like you I hope he wakes up and start producing like we know he can which is something we can never expect to see from lingard

That's funny and kinda true. Neither of them represents great value for money at 100k and 140k per week. I would like to see a new dynamic skilled #10 brought in but till then I would like to see Mata given a go or Fellaini when he's back from injury. Fellaini is not skilled or creative but at least offers some physical presence in the box and can be an aerial threat.

Not blaming him or anything for the loss but when I saw him get outpaced by the ref I couldn't believe it. Lost cause or not, needing a goal or not is irreverent. I hope he (along with others) are rightly taken to task by Mourinho

Lingard had only just come on as well so it wasn't like he was tired.

Can anyone tell me one thing Lingard did of any note after he came on yesterday, apart from being embarrassed by the ref?

I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous

Don't know why he has started running through treacle all of a sudden. Shows this 'he is quick' motto that gets applied to him is part of the urban myth that often applies to Lingard.

He had a couple of good interplays on the left wing with Rashford and Matic, which led to good opportunities in the box. He's not the best dribbler but he did try a couple of times, which is far more than anything Mikhi gave us. I'm not Lingard's biggest fan but until we get better attacking options I'd start playing him or Martial instead of Mikhi, Lingard at the least has decent link up play with the rest of our attackers.

Put in a good shift good run about for him, hard worker

Lingard didn't do much worthy of criticism yesterday bar getting smoked in a foot race by a 40 year old referee.

It is depressing though that our answer to going a goal down away to a rival is to bring on Fellaini and Lingard. Shows you just how shallow this squad is in terms of quality attacking options.

Bernado Silva can barely get a game at City.

The gulf in attacking talent is huge.

 That's a funny clip but is he actually slow generally? I've never really thought of him as a slow player.

He's definitely not fast. He got caught up by Eriksen last week when he was through on goal. Then a few minutes later he got caught up again by somebody else when he had a good head start.

He is slow and weak as a schoolgirl.

Yeah due to the poor form of Mkhitaryan and Mata and having no real wingers our attacking options after Martial and Rashford are grim.

It's definitely an area of improvement.

City have done that well. Got the best striker in the league over the last 5 years? Go and sign a Brazillian wonderkid as competition.

We require more signings. But I'm confident we will make them.
