I'm still astonished by the transformation that has taken place.
It was only after seeign the celebration a few times that the things he does with his hands by his face represent "J" and "L" - at first i thought it was some weird mask celebration, but was only when i saw a photo that i realsied what he was doing!

No, it suggests either Lingard has more freedom, different instructions or simply interprets what Mourinho has told him differently to the others.
Remember he didn't start today. Why not? Maybe because he isnt always following instructions. Who knows
Because he's not as good as Martial? (In theory)
Do you not think it rather unlikely that Mourinho's instructions to his forwards would be "don't make runs off the ball"?
For Mourinho? No. Remember when Oscar became his favourite new toy at Chelsea because he tracked back? It wouldnt surprise me if he was happier with a forward making a run tracking back, than making a run off the ball for a pass
[b[He’s proven his worth to me time and again.[/b[ Today was no different. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and/or for making movements that put others in that place.
Those two things are not mutually exclusive. You can actually do both. For Mourinho? No. Remember when Oscar became his favourite new toy at Chelsea because he tracked back? It wouldnt surprise me if he was happier with a forward making a run tracking back, than making a run off the ball for a pass
On the one hand, Lingard was very highly rated in the youth teams, something that McTominay wasn't. So he'd shown he had the actual ability. And for those slating/writing off McTominay, we should remember Lingard. Lingard was heavily praised by peers and coaching staff while Redcafe was slating him. He eventually proved his worth. So let's not write off McTominay, or any of our youngsters for that matter, so quickly.
