Amazing album. Loving alot of the tracks on there at the minute and i'm not even a big hip-hop fan.

On par and maybe even slightly better than Relapse imo. Very close to call.

It's a top notch album, yeah.

D.O.A Is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time

 are you serious? Joint weakest album the guy has ever released alongside Kindgom Come...

"Forever Young" and "Already Home" are good
The album is good, the more you hear it the better it is, but as one review I read rightly put it, it lacks 'struggle'

OB4CL2 > Blueprint 3.

Thats actually a fact.

Searl was kind enough to give me links for this but I've not got it as yet, might just buy it as I like to have the real CD, case etc.

I'm sure I'll like it but I don't expect it to anything like as good as his earlier stuff.

I would rather use my money on the Raekwon album, it's fantastic.

i dont mind this album at all, only listened to it a few times so far

Maybe next time you should listen to it properly. Should have kept it '100' like he says in D.O.A and made something original and not packed full of guest appearances on what is essentially a pop album.

Its a shame.

i like the poppyness of it, not really into proper hippity hop that much

Fair enough - its a shit album for people who have listened to his music since the mid 90's, but its great for those who just jumped on the band wagon after his coldplay collaborations.

I own about 4 Jay-Z albums i think, love them all

Black Album
Kingdom Come
American Gangster
Blueprint 3

My point exactly.

Only messin mate, you probably have some other ones, but this album is weak - just making a point, no offence

3 out of 4 correct lol

The Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster, Blueprint 3

I have all his albums and his earlier work is definitely his best, Reasonable Doubt is his best, and the first Blueprint album was the last of his really brilliant work, but I can still quite happily listen to his new stuff.

I'd have to say that nobody can really call themselves a Jay-Z fan, or be able to comment on how good any of his albums are when they haven't listened to Reasonable doubt. Like R_Nick said, everything from Reasonable Doubt through to Blueprint 1 is his genius work.
I can listen to all his albums after that apart from K.C and BP3 - but I won't enjoy them as much.

This thread prompted me to put Reasonable Doubt on, and my CD is scratched and skipping

Better than losing the CD mate, mine's long gone - only have the case and the booklet left. Although I ripped it onto my PC before losing it.

I've done that with a 'vol1 in my lifetime' and 'vol 2 hard knock life', luckily they are on iTunes but still very annoying.

Shame really, wish I kept my CD collection together. Had a classic collection.

Ditto, I used to have shit loads of discs in a big CD wallet in the car though and would often lend the disc on its own to someone and forget about it, must have lost a bunch of CD's doing that.

It's a solid album, under-rated sadly much like Kingdom Come because Jay-Z takes a different stance on his approach.

It doesn't take much to notice however this is his "worst" album... but if this is his worst, it pays massive testament to the career the man has at his disposal.

It's a 3.5/5 album for me, lots of songs grow on you, not many get worse with time.

Maybe he is a victim of his own high standards sometimes - but as the trend goes...his next album will be something special.

BP3 was a bit average IMO.

Like they "usually" are... A shame he won't put out another RD, BP or Black Album.

That said. There's a couple of decent tracks on there.

And if you're into Hov, here's the full 11/9 concert he had at the Madison Square Garden. Top stuff. Better than the Fade to Black concert he had.

Se Jay-Z regjere over New York

I think it was just about average with a few half decent songs, which you'd probably play for about 2 weeks, then forget about. Not Jay-Z quality.

I'm glad he doesn't make a BA2 or a RD2 - they wouldn't live up to the hype.

Well the concept of a Black Album is just idiotic, I have no idea why you'd bring it up...

American Gangster in the thesis of things is almost like a sequel to Reasonable Doubt in the midst of a New York vibe... something dark and soulful.

In his interview with Funk Flex he already mentioned that he's done with trilogies... he's created 2 sets and he's now onto more creative things... i'm anticipating it, but I hope it's not Kanye-esque sound changes :nervous:

Because the poster above me brought it up. I commented on how it wouldn't work.

Rumour is though, is that he's already working on his next album, and its going to be focussed more towards hiphop.

Didn't see that :nervous:

I think i'm going blind
