January Transfer Window

Walker isn't that bad defensively, I've been forced to watch a lot of Spurs this season and the danger has normally come through the middle targeting the woeful Dawson. If anything, his attacking play has been well under par. Although I think he's missed Lennon not being in the team.

I follow him in terms of yellow cards, his positional play is part of the reason their centre halves can get so exposed. He's probably worse than Glen Johnson in that respect. Agree on the attacking side although that might have been down to AVB ?

Nah, if anything AVB was pushing the fullbacks higher up the pitch. Rose at the start of the season was playing like a younger Evra. Walker was forever making runs up the pitch and failing miserably to produce anything. Dawson is just a rubbish CB, far too slow nowadays and gets exposed horribly by anyone with pace. He certainly isn't a top 4 CB and AVB's tactics of pushing his fullbacks up probably didn't help him.

Maybe, I would prefer we bring in a player who's 100% comfortable playing in central midfield. Looking at this, he's played DM, CM once, 7 AM's, LW 9 times, RW/RM 9 times. From what I've seen of Koke on TV he's always looked like a winger that likes moving infield, a bit similar to Nani in that regard. Granted I've only seen him a handful of times and I may simply have watched him when he was picked as a winger. I'm no expect on Koke, I'm just aware that he's barely been picked as part of a two man midfield, which is the type of player we REALLY need. Someone with experience in that position and a fecking good player to play alongside Carrick.
Like I said before, his case is probably like us with jones. He's a centre back by trade but has played in midfield or right back for more then as a centre back, because we are lacking players in those positions and are stacked with centre backs. Atletico Madrid have plenty of central midfielders, and since koke is versatile, they move him around to fill in wherever. He did start off as a central midfielder.
Also you're not going to find players who are used to 2 man midfields because hardly anyone uses them these days. Koke is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, central or offensive midfielder that he'd have no problem next to Carrick IMO.

'Can he play in a two man midfield' and its variations is the worst phrase on the caf

There are definately players out there who are achievable.....

to bring in a Coentrao and a top midfield player along with getting RVP, Rooney, Rafael and Jones back from injury would be fantastic

such a lift and give us the momentum to rack some wins up, rebuild confidence and put up a fight for the remaining trophies

Listening to 'tactics guru' Jonathan Wilson on 5Live he reckons someone like Matic is the ideal midfielder for us.

Spurs aren't going to sell you Kyle Walker, just like Everton aren't going to go sell you Baines.

So you're moaning about players that (a) are not available to you; and (b) are better than the United players (Smalling and Evra) who usually/often play for you in the respective positions concerned.

So well done, your moaning is a double waste of time.

A) I didn't say they were available or even options, Mark Ogden did.

B) Baines is certainly better than Evra. Not worth the ridiculous price we'd have to pay though, thus a bad signing if better options are available. Walker better at RB than Smalling? It'd be sad if he wasn't as Smalling is actually a CB. Our RB is Rafael and Walker isn't in his league.

Speaking of which, where is Micah Richards recently?

Walker is a mug of a footballer. Absolutely fecking shite.

This is so obviously not true that it's barely worth commenting on. But still, it's part of the good 'ol red café tradition of wildly over-rating your own players - e.g. Rafael - whilst rubbishing most opposition players.

On the subject of Rafael, I see he's just made a fine contribution to allowing Sunderland's opening goal. But how can that be? Isn't he apparently world class or something?

You really are clueless if you genuinely believe Walker is a better player than Rafael.

He was marking O'Shea and O'Shea didn't head the ball. He did his job. Watch the game instead of listening to shite from cnuts like Davie Provan. Carrick was marking Brown.

And yes, Kyle Walker is "absolutely fecking shite." Absolutely.

Rafael had no part in the goal. Try watching the game. If you think Walker is better than Rafael then you're a funny lad.

So, if I'm not mistaken, so far its:

Coentrao
Moyes denies 'finalising a deal', and Ancelotti announced that no players will leave Madrid, and the situation is the same as the summer, RM need a replacement, which will most likely be summer IMO so very small chance of moving this window.

Pjanic
Roma have said he is not for sale despite them already receiving bids, won't be moving in January.

Costa & Herrera
Both clubs performing overly well and neither need to sell before the summer, so unlikely again.

I'm not too sure on the likeliness of Gundogan, Reus, Shaw and Koke but doubt any will move this window...

yeah it'll be hard to attract the right players but it's doable. Clubs outside of Spains big two or in Italy (in my opinion) will sell for the right price, despite what they say. It's just the right price is going to higher than it would be normally, especially heading into a world cup.
Herrera has a known buy-out clause as well, so it is completely doable, if he wants to come.
Too many excuses at the moment from the United camp, and there has been for a while. Even under SAF.

I can't honestly see a lot of players wanting to come in to play for us with the current style of football that Moyes has got us playing. That being said, if we were to wait till the end of the season, it may be ever harder, if Moyes continues to feck up.

Someone like Pjanic, we should be able to get. Juventus basically ended their league hopes.

Only problem is whether we willing to put a silly offer in for him.

I'm presuming we'd buy players to improve our style of play. It's like saying a striker wouldn't want to join because we don't score enough goals.

Instant first choice in one of the biggest clubs in the world, centre of attention, and a fecking huge pay packet.

Yeah, I'd say there's the odd reason despite the bad league spot.

But just before the world cup? That's a bit of a risk if you're going for your national team.
Definitely. There's reward too though, pull it off well, and it can help your NT chances.

Depends on the nation too, as some of course prefer to keep within their national league as much as possible.

Probably why I don't think Pjanic will move this window. Maybe after the world cup, but it being Bosnia's first world cup, the way Roma's season is going, he'd like to stay clear of potential injuries and keep his form good and stay in familiar surroundings, not go to the premier league and get kicked around and risk picking up an injury before the world cup, or lose form.

If we are linked to a player everyone insists through some unknown, imagined insight that he definitely won't be free January. Anyone else linked with a player we get the same people complaining we're not also in running for them and if ever we do become 'in the running' we immediately switch to that imagined insight of insisting it's a waste of time as they won't be free in January.

We make these excuses to cushion the blow of our club being pretty shit in the transfer market. I bet if Barca needed players in January they would find them.
