Jamie Carragher

Excellent. It’s a shame no one directly challenged Souness on Sunday with the huge audience watching, but credit to Jamie, he’s clearly gone away and read/listened to fans even further.

They tried but that deadly can of beer wasn’t enough to hospitalise him.

Nobody should be surprised at Carragher having our back these past few weeks. He lives and breathes the game to a degree few can match within the sport. A bigger football anorak you’re unlikely to find.

I don’t always agree with him but respect his opinions 100% every single time, which is something I can’t say for the vast majority of pundits these days.

Pundits like Souness, Shearer and Jenas think they are above fan opinions. Shearer and Jones couldn't be bothered to do simple research before going on air to understand why United supporters are not happy with the owners. Souness didn't want to listen to Keane, Carragher and Neville. It's pure ignorance. Carragher on the other hand is in touch with the supporters views and he respects them.

I second that. Well said.
There are times when football transcends club loyalty. And Jamie went up in my estimation.

Carragher did something that few do.
He pinpointed and tried to comment pro-actively about media coverage that would ensue and kept highlighting the heart of the matter.
Ownership.

Him and Neville have many detractors, and though both are human and have and will make mistakes, on this recent coverage they have stayed steadfast in keeping the core issues in conversation.
Even when it affects Sky's magnum opus.

Pains me to say it but yeh Carra spoke sense. Felt like it came from the heart of a proper football fan, not a pundit/footballer/manager. Souness however...literally sounded like he needed to be put in a home.

He take on Utds win at Spurs was very interesting.

Saying it was a magnificent performance and the pressing and compact set up was like City and Liverpool.

There were definitely more positives than some media and experts said… to them, it was purely down to Spurs being shite.

If nothing else, the finishing and assisting passes were very good.

He’s right the press was good and we only sat off after we won the lead, think he was wrong about AWB though he had to press after Greenwood missed it..

Does anyone else have the same experience of seeing him fawn over Liverpool on social media and news outlets more regularly than ever?

Just saw someone tweet about him saying Sadio Mane should be a Ballon D'Or contender, a player who isnt even in the PL player of the year shortlist.

How he is still on tv after what he did too adds insult to injury.

Why shouldn't he be a contendor? Serious question.

Because :

A) it's May. they obviously take into account what happens at the end of the season as a big factor, but Carragher's talking like he's a frontrunner and near favourite already before they have won big honours.

B) He's not even on the shortlist in the POTS for the PL.

C) How many times has he had a major impact on a game this season?

Don't get me wrong, I think Mane is one of the best players in the league, a phenomenal footballer. I just think this season has overall been below his standard, yet Carragher is already calling it as if he's one of the top choices.

Mane has been quite key to Liverpool of late by way of keeping them in ties and the title charge with key moments.

Pogba was in the Premier League team of the year when we had Ole as caretaker, and he had 2/3rds of a season full of shit form. That doesn't mean anything.

The balon dor favourites are always for teams who have won big cups. Given Liverpool are on the hunt for 4 cups this year, its not unreasonable to give him a shout.

And he never spoke of Mane as a frontrunner.

I don't disagree with him. Prefer him to Salah, who's the most greedy player I have ever seen.

He literally wrote a column in the telegraph the other day saying he could be...

If not Benzema then Mane Ballon Dor would be fine with me. Not bothered about Prem POTY, I mean I can confidently say he’s had a better year than James Ward Prowse ffs

You're joking?
Benzema has been twice the player this season.

Mane's stats this season are also pretty wank. Especially in the EPL

To be honest I usually find myself agreeing with Carragher as a pundit. He strikes me as somebody who talks with reason rather than emotion. I always think his opinions on us are fairly well thought through, balanced and objective.

Mane maybe should be on shortlist but carra keeping him happy by saying this, if mane made pots shortlist and salah didn't, he'd be saying it about Salah, it's how you influence the player and people,

He cant be a contender if he isnt up to win it. Its KDB v Benzema for me

Recently this classless little man did a video attacking and mocking Pelé for some unknown reason(while Pelé was fighting against a cancer in the hospital). It caused a state of perplexity among many brazilians, to see that irrelevant man, with an arrogance based on nothing, clear signals of low intelligence and a childish voice trying to attack Pelé.

I think you're paraphrasing. He caveats this is ONLY if Liverpool win the Quad.

I am indeed, but to make the point of Carragher as a pundit. We as United fans criticize Neville for being a wally, yet I don't see the same observation when he openly gasps at a quick 1-2 between pool players.

I've not heard of this. What did he say about Pele?

You're not making much of a point. He just said If Liverpool win the Quad, it would be Mane over Salah. Obviously it would be a Liverpool player at that stage.

Ok, I used the Mane quote as the last example. If you want to keep defending mane/Carragher as it is then it is what it is.

I am not defending anyone. Its petty to think of it as an us vs them debate.

Fact is, balon dor is based on the winning team. If Liverpool were to win the quad or even the CL its likely one of their own winning it.

All charrager said is in that scenario, he thinks Mane deserves it more than Salah.

Him and Souness going on about how the Premier League is so much better than "them forrin leagues" with all their diving and playacting, without a hint of irony.
