Jamie Carragher

Because Gary Neville knew he lost in the studio and decided to carry it and record it carrying on to save face. Other than the RedCafe, Gary Neville was the laugh of social media yesterday in some of his views (ie TAA/Maguire and Kane).

Never understand comments like this, ie:- 90 mins prove the whole opinions about him is warranted, other than this season TAA has been amazing and amazing in the big games, Barcelona for example.

The guy is 22 years of age, played in 2 Champions League finals (winning 1) and has a Premier League title, TAA was a big part of the reason Liverpool doing this, if he was a dud right back Liverpool would never have gone on to achieve what they have recent seasons, you can't have any passengers in elite football.

TAA could play at RB for them as a dud because he was completely cared for defensively. Liverpool had the most defensive and combative midfield three with possibly the best CB and GK behind them. In most other teams he wouldn't get away with his poor defending, he would either be utilised elsewhere or not play.

Utter prick today.
Still shocked this cnut is on TV after gobbing in the face of little girls!

How?
Gary included Trent in his squad and was asked 2 separate questions:

Would Southgate take him, and if not, why would GARETH leave him out?
Would Gary take him?

Carragher and some social media commentators enraged, parroted Carragher's weak comprehension of "BUT GARY WHY WOULD YOU SAY WHY GARTEH WOULDN't TAKE HIM THAT AND THEN TAKE HIM?"

Trent is very talented; but he is also horrendously weak compared to the other Right-Backs Defensively over the past year and you have to admit it is a conundrum in a one-off tournament in a different team vs different teams with limited squad places. The furore was indicative of reactionary social media regurgitation devoid of nuance.

Gary's additional point about Maguire was sound: If Magure gets injured, the step-down to partner Stones is big and may induce a completely different team shape to compensate for this drop off.
This does not then mean Maguire is better than Kane or that Maguire is the second-coming of Beckenbauer.

Pogba had an even better take today in the second half, wonder if that was worthy of a Carragher groan?

Hes not wrong. I said in another thread, if we had Kane in the team, we would have won the league this season.

Since Christmas we have played 6 league games (that I can think of) where we did not win and where we scored the grand total of two goals....Pool, Arsenal, Leeds, CP, WBA and SU.....that's 13 points right there.

Chelsea and Everton?

Chelsea and Everton?

You are correct on the Chelsea game, forgot that one. 7 games then where we scored 2 goals and dropped 15 points in only the last 4 months.....we really need Kane.

The Everton game was actually 3 3.....remember the 95th min equaliser? Ssshhhh.....thats the case for needing a defender more than a striker!

He's speaking very well again at the moment about United on MNF.

He's basically called out other pundits, like Souness, talking about net spend as idiots and "lazy" for talking about something they have no knowledge of.

He’s spot on with everything he has said.

His critique of the media was great.

I really have huge respect for everything he has said these last few days, it was so easy for him to criticize United fans as a Liverpool legend and work on creating that negative narrative as some other pundits and journos have (from Telegraph for example) but he didn't, saying all the right things imo and well done for that.

He’s been a very sensible pundit in the main for a good while! Of course he’s had his moments of bias (all time Liverpool/United 11) but football is in dire need of more pundits who use their brains and he and Neville do so.

He has been bang on with everything he's said these past few days. I'm sure he's earned the respect of a lot of United fans over this. Fair play to him

He could have very easily pulled a souness and went on tv spouting nonsense and cashing in on all of the extra attention. I think he’s seen and heard Neville speak a lot on the topic over the years and he has a very good understanding of the situation. He also seems to care about the fans.

Plenty of pundits come out of this looking completely out of touch and disengaged with the football fans they were claiming to champion literally a fortnight ago. Shearer a particularly disappointing one for me listening to him waffle on using the net spend defence the other night. Feel like he's spent the last decade refusing to be a public voice against Ashley too, who else could possibly perform that role for Newcastle's support if not Shearer

That was pathetic. The fact they even brought a graphic up on the screen displaying the spend shows they planned on hammering that point home.

Clueless.

Carragher is a football man. Sourness is just a bitter man.

Serious respect for the guy! Him and Gary are great representatives of what Liverpool and Manchester United should stand for in the current situation.

Even if Carragher is a Liverpool legend and I despised him as a player, I have to admit I enjoy listening to him when it comes to football, even when I don't agree. His chemistry with Neville is also great.

Fair play to carragher over this.

He's been great.

And even though he didn't mention him by name it's clear he was talking about Souness when he mentioned ill informed lazy punditry.

Its not really a surprise with Shearer. He's never struck me as a man that does his homework and I suspect he's also a bit thick. I remember back in the day when Hatem Ben Arfa joined Newcastle he was talking about him as if he was an absolute unknown

Shearer is certainly not the brightest.
