We will pay 60m euros for him and they will pay 60m euros for De Gea. Basically a swap without it being so.

Time for Woody to whip out the ol' fax machine on August 31st - "Okay time to confirm this De Gea transfer to 60m again. Aw shucks the fax machine is down again!" *wink*

With James being a Jorge Mendes client and the seemingly stronger rumours coming about over the last few days I am starting to think this may be true.
I wouldn't be shocked if a cash + James deal for De Gea is already sorted out behind the scenes.

Mourinho not playing De Gea in the Europa and talking up Romero as having "Similar ability" the other day suggests to me that he knows De Gea is off.

I can also see Mourinho moving fast in this transfer window (like his second Summer at Chelsea with Cesc and Costa) where there's no International Tournament this year.

We're basically swapping DDG with some dude from Real's trash bin

We've just made the BREAKING NEWS on sky sports saying that we have been offered the chance to buy James Rodriguez.

What does that even mean? since when do we usually see breaking stories of x club having the chance to sign y player. I'm sure if James was available he would be offered to most of the big clubs around Europe not just us.

Looks like ballague is behind this leak. He is a madrid/barca mouthpeice these days, basically everything in spain is cumworthy. I still maintain we will reject the chance to sign him. It was similar to last year. If we are serious about Bernardo silva/Griezmann this signing wont make sense.

Right so Mendes is Rodriguez agent, he's also De Gea's agent and Jose's agent, I see a pattern emerging here....

Now sky sources are reporting this I'm feeling a lot more relaxed on this situation.
Thank god we wont be signing him.

We are becoming a haven for greedy football agents.

I'm not against signing him, but at €75 million Madrid and Mendes will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Just hopefully De gea gets to stay here. Real are demanding £50m for a part time player so we should tell Real to pay £100m for the world's best goalkeeper or to feck off. But I can see us crumbling under pressure and accepting a £30-40m bid for him

@Acquire Me Do you have any insights regarding this? There was news of Adidas wanting him to be our next no. 10 so they can continue marketing him with James 10 or whatever. Have you heard anything about this?? Are we really signing him?

If we sign him it looks like 3 at the back next season since we seem to be after Keane and Dier as well. Dier starting would allow him to step forward when we have the ball since he's comfortable in midfield as well.
The width comes from the wingbacks which would allow James and Griezmann (?) to play as inside forwards behind Martial / Rashford?

We should offer Real to buy Lingard, Fellaini and Jones

Good player on he's day but they are to and far between. Don't see where he'd fit in the side especially with Mata and Mhkitaryan already in the squad and potentially the arrival of Griezmann

Yeah, this seems like the sort of player we'd sign these days.

I really hope this doesn't jeopradise our chances of signing a couple of top players who could significantly improve us.

Maybe Jose wants the sort of squad that Real have, that whoever plays it is strong. We definitely don't have that at the moment and could mean a really big clearout.

Just us? Why have we been offered the chance? If he is for sale then why not the open market to drive the price up?

IIRC, the market is kind of a myth, it just means that the agent of the player is allowed/encouraged to openly offer his clients services to other clubs. In that case, maybe James has a limited list of clubs that he likes and we are part of it.

Could be but how do you keep all those players happy? The likes of James wants to leave Madrid because the lack of game time for example.

Classy player but I'm not sure how suited he is to the PL. No power or pace. Not sure how much he can add that Mata and Mkhi don't already provide

Maybe? You hope it doesn't wreck the chance of other signings. It could put people like Mata at risk of staying.

Sky don't have a clue anymore. That's why SSN has become pointless in a lot of ways now, Twitter has the scoops often hours before Sky.

I think James would improve us. He can't be any worse than Rooney or Lingard can he? My only worry is that it takes a chunk of our Summer transfer kitty.

Acquire Me hasn't posted in a while so don't expect an answer.
