feck it I just want some potency around our attacking 3rd now. I'd fecking settle for Ryan Babel right now if it meant we would start playing good football.

Gained his reputation on how well he did at a World Cup many years ago, & gone downhill ever since.

If this is our quality of signings for next season, we will be lucky to hold on to 6th next season. I also find it hard to believe he is Mourinho's type of player either.

Those who've actually watched him consistently.

What can he do that Miki/Mata can't do? (on paper I mean)

Cant wait until the caf meltdown when we sign Michael Keane, Kasper Schmeichel, Eric Dier and James Rodriguez.

He requires pace ahead of him, on the sides of him plus defensive stability behind him though.

We can't provide either, and trying to provide the secondary will limit a far more talented player in Pogba.

If he contributed defensively, had pace and could play on the wings, then sure. As it stands now he is just a flashier and slightly better Mata.

So Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and Martial don't have pace

I can't follow people like you anymore

Really? Even next year? While I haven't seen you lately, I somehow struggle to think he won't make the starting 11 soon.

Also I really struggle to come up with a team were Pogba and James fit in together without putting the later on the wing.
Pogba has played well in a midfield two for us. He's a lot more tactically aware than he's given credit for.

He is same age as Kevin De Bruyne. I see him as similar player for us in terms of position and potential.

Having raw pace is one thing, but utilizing it for making runs that players like James thrives on is a whole different matter.

You can't really say we've teared teams apart with our pacey movement this season.

Mkhi will seek central positions, same with Lingard, and Martial has raw pace but not good enough movement. Rashford is the exception.

Are they particularly good at free kicks, corners, crosses? If not, that'd be three things.

James doesn't particularly scream warrior! to me.

His agent wants a move for him and is talking his move to us to get hima move to anyone who will pay him money. Not coming here, he is opposite to what mou wants in a player. Its chile vision of columbia. Not worried at all, he wont be coming here.

His lack of pace must be compensated with quick wingers and strikers, so he can distribute the ball to them. I think you misunderstood since you brought up Xavi and Riquelme.

Lack of pace must be compensated by others. We've seen United this season when we've rocked out a slow front three\four. Adding another snail to that setup won't help us much.
I did not misunderstand but simply disagreed with the notion of "pace is paramount". The kid is not Gareth Bale fast but he is not a slow coach by any means. His pace is quite fine as is. Zlatan has never had quick pace but was a great striker in his prime.

While its good to have pace in a team, it is simply overrated on this forums. Its the same way some people deem certain players better cos they feel they will be effective in a counter attack.

A team of quality players that lacks pace is still superior to a team of pace merchants that lack quality.

Sounds like BS. "A clause that he takes the #10"? Who the feck does he think he is? Definitely BS.

Well he promotes his jamesrodriguez10 bullshit. It is quite believable, thats the type of player and person he is, his priorities are well defined. He will be partying hard in London.

Whether this is true or not I don't know but What's wrong with people :wenger:

Martial and mkhi are either hit or cold (mostly cold)
Lingard is just plain shit
Rashford and mata are our only somewhat reliable players but even they don't perform some games.

He wouldn't be my ideal signing either but to suggest he wouldn't improve our attack or that he's rubbish is utter nonsense, I'd welcome him with open arms if he does come.

If it guarantees that Rashford never takes another corner, I am all for it. But that is unfortunately the main advantage I see. He is good...but he is inconsistent. Thats not what we need

How would your offense look then? Something like this:

----------Rashford----------
Martial-James--Mkhitaryan
--------XXX---Pogba-------
?

While the quality would be there, I wouldn't be to happy with Pogba in this one. Still believe he should play as close to the box as possible and ideally in front of two midfielders.

Who knows what plans Mourinho has?

So true

We have Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mkhi etc but we haven't set the world alight

Where as Herrera has been good but never thought of as a speed merchant

I really don't understand the negativity on here for some players

James is a brilliant player, excellent passing skills beter than any of our current players, he is a good dribbler, he reads the game very well, he can score those jammy long distance goals we never see at United. He is better than any player we currently have to play on the 10

Would love us to ditch the traditional outdated concept of absolutley needing 2 wingers at United, imagine something like this

-----------------DDG----------------------
Valencia----Bailly----Rojo----------Shaw
-----------------Fabinho------------------
----------James--------Pogba-----------
---------------Mkhitaryan----------------
-------Griezmann--------Rashford--------

If you can't dismantle teams with that, you simply don't know how to manage a football team simple as that

Improve on the quality of the fullbacks and that is a team that should be able to compete for the CL

James would never this low on the pitch, he'd wanna get close to the goal to score and assist. Too much hard work will be required from him in there. I'd rather keep Herrera as a starter thank you.
