Knew Bayern wouldn't pay the money Real asked for. Cheap feckers. But good deal for them. No way they will buy him at the end of that loan spell

Depends what the pre-agreed fee would be.

I do strongly believe that we won't have an option to buy. It would most likely be an obligation to do so at the and of the loan spell. The same kind of deal we had with Juve for Benatia and seem to have in place for Costa.

What is it about Bayern that get's players cheaper than everybody else?

I truly don't believe we wanted him anyway, 15m euros for 1 season is way to steep.

What players did we get cheaper than anybody else would have?

Is it just me that doesn't rate this guy whilst knowing that i've practically never seen him play?

For some reason i just think he'll disappear for us, like Di Maria kind of disappear.

I think he's a great player and the people that don't rate him have never watched him properly imo. That said, if Bayern sign him it's because Mourinho doesn't see him as a priority as there's no way we'd be beaten after all this time. Woodward has proven his compentency this summer so I don't think it should be questioned in this case.

Would have been a good signing if we'd done thesame deal as Bayern.
Assuming the deal is true, that is.

Still, if Griezmann is still our main target for next year, a potential James signing would make no sense. You can only really have one number 10/second striker who can occupy a position out wide when we need to solidify the midfield in big games, and it'd become an either or scenario.

True, which is why I don't expect us to make a signing like James, because I still fully believe we're in for Griezmann long term. A winger yes, DM yes.

Would that mean Muller is available ? Much rather him than James.
If anything, James should help Müller reestablish himself in the first team. Müller desperately needs someone to feed him. I don't think anybody would become available. Ribery and Robben will further lose playing time due to age and likely retire soon. Wouldn't make sense to sell anyone.

Isn't Ancellotti playing Muller behind Lewa these days ? Same position where James could play ?

I'd envision something like this for the coming season:
-------------------Neuer----------------
Kimmich---Boateng--Hummels--Alaba
-------Vidal------Thiago----Tolisso-----
-------------------James---------------
-------Müller---------Lewandowski----

Or Müller could play next to James behind Lewa. The position is not that important for Müller, thouh. He justs needs to be able to play around a striker facing the goal.
I'm not quite sure what to expect from Robben. He should play a lot, but he is not getting any younger.

So you don't rate him even though you have never seen him play?

Unfortunately there seem to be some -like yourself- who simply do not want to like him, either because they don't feel we need a #10, or because they wrongly presume that because he hasn't made it at Madrid, he must therefore be a lazy luxury player, which is simply not true. So if you can place your unfounded and baseless prejudices to one side for a moment, i will offer my take.

As a #10, he is in the top 2 or 3 in the world in that position, he scores goals, creates goals, is a brilliant set piece taker, skillful dribbler, and his passing accuracy is also very good. He is basically a younger, quicker and all round improved version of Mata, a 2.0 upgrade if you prefer.

So that's what you get, whether or not you feel we need a #10 for the way we play is your own choice, but you now at least have an alternate view of the players merits to consider, rather than simply writing him off based upon nothing more than an unsubstantiated stereotyping.

Didn't predict him going to Bayern at all tbh. Gonna be great with them and will show his talent there.

Anchelotti will probably be moving to 4-2-3-1.

Bayern was definitely an realistic option because of anchlotti's past with him.

Great deal from Bayern's perspective. Will be interesting how he performs & what position he plays.

Never thought we were going for him as it made no sense. If we were after Griezeman and reports are to be believed that we will go back for him in Jan or next summer then James makes no sense. Especially at that value.

Good move for him and gets his wages off the books for Madrid

Good signing for Bayern, Ancelotti knows how to use him most effectively.

I'm pretty sure we have an obligation to buy him. No matter what the media say.

Ah alright, that makes sense. You've had something akin to that with Coman, apart from the 'obligation', no? Or did you have to sign him too?

I voted yes in the poll, would have liked him here, but hopefully we have a better option coming in. I think he will do well at Bayern, good luck to him.

Yep. Carlo was the only one who used him correctly in Madrid. It's time for James to shine with him there.

Great signing for them.
