Because the reasoning for it isn't convincing one bit. So if they don't rate him, surely they must have some great evidence for it?
2 exceptional seasons. And all of us know he's not the finished product. That's part of the reason why we want him. He's only 20 and was as good as he was as a 20 year old. I feel like, you guys on the other hand are looking at him like a finished product and that his price reflects that fact. His price reflects a 20 year old who has had 2 exceptional seasons as an 18 and 19 year old in a top 5 league, with great technical ability, dribbling potential, and decision making.
Players that age often don't get sold for a price reflecting the finished product. That happens for older players because they don't have much room to grow. They're the finished product. For younger players, they're often sold with their potential being a factor in the fee. It's the same reason why if somebody wanted to buy Greenwood off us, you would not sell him for a price that reflects what he is right now, because down the line he could be worth much much more than that.
How much more should a €120m 20 year old show to prove he's worth that money? Genuine question. And I've pretty much stated on here that I do expect a drop in performance, but I do expect him to improve in the next 3 seasons. Look at Torres who City bought. He was a lot cheaper because there was way more uncertainty based on the evidence he's shown in the past 2 seasons (less minutes at the top level, and far less end product).
Some people were labeling Havertz overrated based on his performance against Bayern in the cup final. It's pretty silly to make a comment like that over a match or two. I would probably respect that opinion a little more if I saw that kind of comment during a Bundesliga season thread in which Sancho was performing well, and there was something you didn't like. But I'm not surprised it happened after this match.
