Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

The opposite of that is true, apart from Dembele and Auba who both pushed for moves they normally as a rule sell in the first half of the window.
I was referring to high profile signings. If the player wants to leave and the money is right, they will sell regardless of their public posturing.

There' still hope lads. van de Beek signed on the 33rd of August (31 + 2) and chose to wear the no.34. Our run of signing players on a day related to their number continues. 7th better be the day!

33 = 34 how?

It'll take a few more weeks yet more than likely.

Clubs that do not want to sell don't brief this kind of information to the press. I believe now 100% that Sancho is going to leave this window.
He is just rehashing what he has said over and over and replying to questions. The price is set, it wont be lowered. If Utd want the player, that's how much it will cost.

I do believe the deal will eventually be done, in installments because we obviously need a RW and the fact we are not linked with anyone else nor denying this link, means we are in for him. Fingers crossed

In fairness to our club, that is a huge amount of money, especially during these times. I will be gutted if we don't make it happen but i will understand.

Same here, 120m is a massive fee for any club and player, let alone a 20 year old that may be tremendously talented but there's always alternatives on the market. The club seems to have a better handle of itself in the market aside from maybe the Maguire fee so let's see what we come up with if Sancho isn't possible. I've far more trust in us than previous summers anyway.

On one of the podcasts, Andy Mitten said something along the lines of "The fee from Havertz to Chelsea may set the expectation in the market for Sancho to United"

I apologise if I have misquoted that a bit, but basically that the fee used in that deal would set the tone for the market.

If that's the case, 70m euro - (£65m ish?) is a good deal for someone who was quoted at approx £100m recently.

Maybe Dortmund will see that their valuation is stupid. It's almost double what Kai Havertz is going for

It's that 70 mil the initial fee or the total cost? Dortmund sold Dembele for 130 mil so in their minds they probably think they already did a discount for 120 for Sancho.

I said it before but i expect young players that join Dortmund from now on will start to demand release fees, like Haaland supposedly has.

Initial fee it's said, but then just add ons. Which could be anything from Chelsea winning the CL, Havertz winning Balon D'or.

Give United a deal of 80-90m up front plus add-ons and i'm sure they'd take it. And it'll seem fair next to the Havertz deal (likely the only other big-money move this summer, excluding potentially Messi, who I think will stay anyway)

Same here, if we can afford it fair enough. The only thing that would annoy me is the chasing it all summer knowing we could afford it. Even if we were hopeful that Dortmund might negotiate on price, there is no way they would dramatically come down in price and should have moved on long ago without getting too many people’s hopes up. They would just be making bad PR for themselves, which is part of the reason I still think this can happen.

It's important to remember than Sancho as it stands is much better and much more proven than Havertz.

Well, United have to actually bid something first

Not denying he's better, but how exactly is he much more proven?

Havertz has about 120 games for Leverkusen, while Sancho played 75 times.

Havertz at 21 has 109 G+A in 16k minutes of professional football to U18

Sancho at 20 has 112 G+A in 10k minutes of professional football to U18

I'd say while both have crazy good stats Sanchos are noticeably better playing 6000 minutes less.

That must go a long way to warranting a higher fee. Also it's quite a fair comparison considering they play in the same league, a league where Sancho has outshone Havertz.

Stats taken from transfermarket. Should be 99% right.

Proven to me isn't playing more games it's performing consistently in the games that you play.

I think our excuse of "covid discount" is out the water now really. We either pay up for one of the best young talents in the world or move on and find somebody cheaper.

I hope the board have enough ambition for the former. 14 years of Sancho could transform our fortunes.

Looks like you have included stats from U19, U17 games too.

Havertz has massive potential, but right now it's not close between him and Sancho.

also tough to compare the transfers because Leverkusen missed out on CL football.

Come on! Real are making no significant signings because of the situation and Liverpool have asked the government for help let alone pay super fees for transfers. It's a very delicate time for football and United are well in their right to be careful. We should still get him because that's why millions across the World are buying shirts at exorbitant prices and we have so many sponsors, it's to buy players not pay dividends, but caution is natural imo.

Havertz's price and the market in general has no effect on Sancho's price. Dortmund don't have to sell and they've set their price. They are in a really strong position negotiation wise, as in they don't have to negotiate. Havertz made it clear he wanted to leave. Sancho for all intents and purposes has made no such intention public. Its pay up or shut up. So the idea of 'they should just take less money because its still a good deal' holds no water.

If you could get Ismaila Sarr, Upamecano and Reguilon for about the same price as Sancho, you really do have to consider the fee and the 'English tax'
And the fact that he's an elite talent and they're not.
