Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

It's just so annoying that it always seems to go this way: Bruno took forever, Maguire, awb and now Sancho while other teams just make their move and finalize the deal. It's less than 3 weeks until the next season begins

There is one thing most United fans fail to understand is that Glazers own the football club. Any money United spend is their money. This discussion is fruitless that how many millions were paid in dividends ( which is normal business practice) and how much was paid as installment and how much was spend on transfer. We have spent money and only LUHG twitter accounts will deny that because they live in their own fantasy world.

We will get Sancho eventually. We are not even in pre season. Just because few of our fans wants us to make a signing doesn't mean we shouldn't negotiate. This Dortmund will not agree thing is just media posturing. There is no harm in trying to find a deal that is good for us.

You do realise sensible posts like this isn't allowed in here?!

Maybe the thread should be locked until there's actual movement, it's annoying coming in here and seeing nothing but whinging about how we've not signed him yet and waah waaah all other clubs are buying players.

Loving all these people debating about the structure of a transfer deal, from third-hand information (which is probably just made up) without any knowledge of the situation whatsoever.

You don't know what's going on. Stop being gowls.

HTH.

Shouting (ALL CAPS)
OMG JUST PAY UP THE EXTRA 25.2 MILLION ED, YOU ABSOLUTE IDIOT.

EVERYONE KNOWS THEY WONT ACCEPT A PENNY LESS THAN 141.8 MILLION.THIS WAS CLEAR FROM THE INDYKAILA TWEET IN JULY.

FFS JUST GET IT DONE. GETTING SICK OF THIS CLUB MIGHT GO SUPPORT CHELSEA, AT LEAST THEY KNOW HOW TO RUN A CLUB.

The club has spent £1.2b post saf.

LVG was backed in the 2 seasons he was there.

Jose was backed heavily in the 2 out of the 3 seasons he was there. It was clear to see his success rate in the transfer market wasn't very good whilst at Manchester United, so wrongly or rightly, chose to withdraw wasting anymore money...which I agree with.

Ole then backed in his 1st full season, with the second not even started.

So I'm not sure where people get the neglect the club give after finishing 4th?!
LVG wasn`t fully backed in his 2nd window though he wanted a CB he didn`t get one and our net spend was circa 50m. He was only really backed in his first after we finished 7th with 6 signings and a net spend of over 100m
Jose in his 3rd window wanted a CB, RB, LB, CM and RW he only got Dalot, Fred and a 40yr old Grant when we were supposed to close the gap on City plus a net spend of circa 50m too compare that to his first window which to date is our best window post Fergie era and his 2nd one where he also got Alexis plus a high net spend over 100m
Ole after getting us 6th spent 150m(low net spend mind you but we still spent heavily) and got Bruno in January when top 4 looked out of reach which evens out our low net spend in the summer now after getting 3rd look at how quiet our window is. By the looks of it one signing at best or no signing in a window we should be closing the gap on City/LFC and Chelsea leaving us for dust. Are you not seeing a worrying trend?

And the award for most measured reaction to the saga goes to...

United spent in the last 6-7 years as much as a huge club like United should be spending. It was badly spent however and years of penny pinching under Fergie forced the Glazers hand.

Like the financial experts say, net spend over a single season is rubbish. The way transfers are done and amortised, you can't calculate the way you did.

LVG got in about 5 players in his second season...he got plenty of players in.

If Havertz goes for £90 million then the club’s position on reducing Sancho’s fee is completely destroyed. It really is either pay up or go elsewhere.

Mate you are correct and of course it isn't fair but at the same time the debt on the club is the Glazers too but if they where ever to sell we would be left with it. They wouldn't have to pay it.

And that is where the whole system is so flawed. The same scenario nearly crippled the dippers and the courts got them out of it. Just a shite situation orchestrated by scummy people.

REAPERSOUL WAS A DIFFICULT PERSONALITY

Cannot believe we’ve let it get to this. Seriously sick to death of this club.

“Biggest club in the world”

Look, all I am saying is that we're currently in some dark times. War, famine, pestilence, disease....all the signs are there.

If Ed wants to bring about the end of the world as we know it, then sure, don't fork out the 146.4 million that is clearly required to make the transfer happen.

We saved £40 million on Alexis wages - we realistically made £70-80 million for reaching the C.L

Of course we can afford it - the question is, what can we afford afterwards

You know we paid a big chunk of wages off don't you?
Plus we swapped Mhky for him, whom we'd paid a decent fee for.

Plus we have to pay someone else to fill Sanchez's place in the squad for two years.

So it's not like it's some sort of 40m profit.

Well Chelsea paying 80 up front and 20 in add ons means we will just have to put up or shut up cause Sancho is nearly twice the player ATM.

Another recruit to come me in my completely reasonable reaction to this saga!!

Only six weeks left til the end of the transfer window. Only a huge recession and unprecedented disease killing off millions. Do what's right, Ed come on. SIGN. MORE. PLAYERS.

Or else me and GE will be off to support Chelsea, the last bastion of sensible and virtuous football in this day and age.

Perhaps fans on here don't appreciate the global economic impact surrounding every business. United's owners and executives would be completely irresponsible to pay or commit to pay over £100m on any player in this environment, hoever 'special' some fans think they may be. Quite rightly a pared-back budget of around £50-60m is available. Chelsea are an exception as they have cash reserves available from two previous transfer periods unspent. No other club , unless they want to run the real risk of bankrupcy will be spending more than this sort of figure. And as no-one will be spending much, the opportunities for sales is diminished as everyone who wants to buy will want to sell first.
As soon as Dortmund made it clear they ( and the player) were happy to see out another year to maximise sale value, this deal was dead. United then had to move on to evaluate options, not for one player, but for maybe two or three more reasonable purchases. This requires time. For instance purchasing Grealish would most certainly use up all of the budget, would this be sensible? It might have been for Sancho, but not necessarily for Grealish. My guess for what its worth, is that discussions are taking place about Brooks and one other attacking player. If the budget can stretch to those two, then they may well happen.
Under these circumstances, withe Smalling returning after a good year at Roma, I do not expect any defensive purchases.

Maybe the thread should be locked until there's actual movement, it's annoying coming in here and seeing nothing but whinging about how we've not signed him yet and waah waaah all other clubs are buying players.

Wouldn't the solution in this case be just not coming into the thread? Weird to request a thread lock when you could avoid the thread or request a thread ban

I'd rather spend the money on the correct players & not just for the sake of signing players. We have to learn from the past.
That I agree with. At the moment though nothing is happening. I hope we're working on some deals but I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt done one transfer. Let alone few.

Have you never noticed how neglegent we act in windows after we`ve finished in the top 4 compared to when we don`t have top 4? LVG`s 2nd window was fine but our net spend was still very low compared to his first. In Jose`s first window after getting us top 4 you know what happened. This summer we are seeing a similar trend to 2018 and at this rate it looks like we only get one signing which is far from enough to even get us top 4 leave alone close the gap on LFC/City
Thank feck mourinho wasn't backed. We'd be in a much worse state right now if he was.

Not sure what’s more tedious - the posters losing it thinking the end is upon us and we’ll sign nobody a week after our season finished or the at-home accountants trying to convince everyone we’re broke, the Glazers aren’t a disgusting leech on the club and everything is dandy.

Then I would miss the actual news, so it's not weird.

There won't be any actual news because Ed Woodward is a tyrant and a cheat.

Only six weeks left in this transfer window. It's clear Man Utd are never, ever signing a player again.

Ever.

The fallout both from the fans but more importantly the media will be unlike anything we've seen in recent years if we don’t add and don’t perform.

If we'd wanted to sign Brooks, surely we'd have done it already?

Guess we're trying to somehow work out how we can pay for Sancho, speaking to banks about loan facilities etc.

Definitely the latter. The former are people who are understandably worried about a recurring pattern of lack of investment when the goal of top 4 has been met and a failure to back the manager properly during a rebuild. The at-home accountants are incredibly deluded and naive.

Agreed, it's pretty clear that Ed Woodward is a sleeper agent placed within Man Utd by either the owners of Liverpool, or else Lucifer himself. If you haven't come to that conclusion yourself at this point, I dont have any hope for you.

There's no need for a talk like that. Lets be more sensible. If some transfers will happen in 3 weeks than fair do. But I doubt it. Maybe it's that kind of day and tomorrow I'll think we'll get 4 quality transfers in no time. :)

We don’t know what’s behind the scene. We could just plan to wait until Chelsea made a bid for Havertz to give us more reason to Dortmund about the asking price. People are so impatient.
Lots can happen and I'm usually pretty patient. However as things stand the reports suggest that we haven't met Dortmund's price and they've spent two weeks celebrating him staying.

Honestly mate, the signs are there. War, famine, disease....honestly think Ed might have been placed there to bring about the end of the world.

We'll see.
