If Ed is only prepared to pay 75m and 35m in add-ons, and not any outrageous agent fee why do we still bother? BvD demand 108m, they will lose face if they let him leave for a much lesser amount.

He is worth that, but there is no club around that can pay the majority of that up front. If Liverpool can't pay €30m up front, what hope do other teams without sugar daddies have. By all accounts even Chelsea sacked him off because they couldn't afford him at that price.
120 mln € is a discount, its 107 mln £,
if Arsenal paid 80 mln £ for Pepe, Barcelona 138 mln € for Dembele, 145 mln € for Coutinho, Atletico 126 mln € for Fekix, PSG 145 mln € for Mbappe ( few years ago, when he was still a gamble)
with his age, stats, image and status in non covid times Sancho would be easy 150 mln, so get it done for 120 or give up because trying to lower that price is ridiculous its Ronaldinho all over again he was worth lot more than set Price but we heard about PSG financial problems and tried to lower it...
Feel like it’s so rare a talent like Sancho comes along AND we end up front of the queue. Losing out would be a big blow. Understand the club want to get value in the COVID climate, but if we don’t get him in a few years time are we going to look back and think we missed out and a chance to close the gap? If he’s the generational talent most think he is, the money ends up falling away as a concern.
Of course it's not up to him but he's surely in conversations with both clubs over the potential move. If he genuinely believed Dortmund will not sell this summer now the deadline has passed, I'd expect his comments to be very different.

Absolutely 100% this. Even if we do wait another season, we'll be lucky to beat off far more attractive clubs next summer, plus the competition will drive the price above what BVB are asking this time around. I get that we don't want to be mugged off in the manner we were with certain deals in the past, but Sancho is a completely different kettle of fish. He's so young and exciting, even if he was shite for 2/3 seasons he'd still have a significant sell-on value. If we have the money, we need to pay it and get this one over the line.
Unfortunately I think we all just need to accept this is over for the summer. United won't pay the fee Dortmund have in mind for Sancho and they have made it clear he's not going anywhere this summer.

If they can't get that fee this summer, there's zero guarantee they'll get it next year, no one knows how the world will look by then.

For the future i expect more contracts to be made like Haaland with a couple of years and after that a reasonable release clause activated.
I'm sure this will happen, but it will be the most dragged saga ever, ending with us paying the full amount few days before the window closes.

Depends really. Have they already lined up a replacement? Will that replacement be available next year? How are their finances? Will 100m be worth more in the market this year than next? Do they have a youth player who can make the step up? There’s a lot of nuances to consider.
I personally think the deal has already been done, both clubs are now securing their other targets without anyone thinking we're both laden with dough.
Could well be, in that situation both clubs wouldn’t confirm that to any journo’s either (in order to retain that appearance to selling clubs.)
It’s an interesting way to think about it when you consider both teams will want to sign additional players and United still haven’t briefed that we’ve pulled the plug on the Sancho negotiations.
I'm sure this is just becoming an exercise to see if we can make the quietest transfer saga we've had reach 1000 pages.

These things are usually from opportunist relatives who the individual in question hasn't spoken to in about 10 yrs.

I mean that's just a "think positive, train hard" statement.
Dortmund saying he’s staying which granted doesn’t necessarily mean too much but then a number of teammates coming out also saying he’s staying. Then there’s the fact we’ve heard absolutely nothing new from anyone reliable on this even remotely moving forward, the likes of Romano have stated it’s pay the €120m in full or it ain’t happening which I just can’t see the Glazers doing especially not in this current Corona climate.
