2. Dortmund won’t sell for anything less than 120m, and they are in no rush to sell (They still have 3 years contract and they sold Dembele for higher amount anyway)

Smalling is almost a done deal based on the latest reports. That’s another 20m in the bank.

Thats not me saying we don’t have funds. I think we don’t want to spend majority of our initial transfer budget on Sancho as we need 1/2 more players also. Hence as I said we first need to get rid of more deadwood.

We’ll also take our time getting the deal done. Don’t want to be seen spending such sums in this climate unless we show we had no other chance. I’ve already mentioned this previously in this thread, Dortmund have already played all their cards so we can truly test their resolve now until we get to create a decent offer.

It’ll also give us time to bring agent fees down that have been recently reported as being an obstacle.

You do realise the longer this goes on, the less chance this happens, right? Dortmund aren't as slow as we are, they would need time to identify and land a target. Doubt they'd want to rush into a major signing when they have no need to sell

The Athletic did say Utd don`t want to exceed a net spend of 50m which is achievable but we`d have to sacrifice signing a CAM as I can`t see us signing an expensive CAM and RW and still achieve this so I could see Lingard and Mata staying as covers for Bruno. I could see something like

Yeah I think it's possible that our huge spending over the years is impacting us as our liquidity position wasn't great? And hence the pandemic is always going to the club's that have cashflow issues (relative to expectations)

City have signed Ake for £41m n Torres for £22m but Sold Sane for nearly £50m so they haven't spent much really. Spurs haven't done much. Arsenal have signed a free transfer in Willian mainly and might be getting a CB for £20m.

We will make our moves too. It's just not going to be the muppet pleasing summer you all expect.

Unfortuately I think we're stuck with both Jones and Rojo after this summer as well. Romero won't go for anything close to 15m. Dalot and Pereira can be sold, and should be sold. There are decent teams out there where they could be useful.

I was convinced this was going to happen up until about a week ago, and now I'm leaning towards it not happening this year. I reckon we thought we would be able to force the price down, but BVB to be fair to them, and is their absolute right to do so, have stuck to their guns on the price of 120m*. The decision now is whether we use this window to make this 1 signing whilst offloading a few players making the overall squad thinner and by definition weaker despite improving the first XI, or do we try and address the squad now and look at the glamour signing next summer. If we do get Sancho I think he is the only player we sign, I don't see us going after others unless a star player of our own is sold.

*I am aware this is unlikely to be 120m upfront and the payment will be staggered, but a very large chunk of the overall fee will be demanded upfront, and the instalments are likely to also be sizeable and could impact future spending ability

Think the club do still want to do this deal if possible but the figures are making it difficult. Everything else feels on hold as even if we can negotiate a lower price or different structure it's going to massively affect our budget.

Personally feel the club should walk away and spend elsewhere, its just too high a figure given the impact on football from Covid.

Potential and thats approximately how much we bought him for at his age we will at the very least look to recoup what we got for him like we did with Schneiderlin which we can cause he`s still young with high resale value

They`ll both leave IMO Ole seems to have made it clear behind the scenes they both have no futures here Jones hasn`t played a game since January and I saw on Twitter from a credible West Ham account he`s on Moyes` list of CB targets plus The Athletic mentioned he even has offers from Italy and Rojo`s agent even publicly said he`s looking for a new club for him. We will get offers for them but late in the window is my guess. Romerro has 39 cleansheets in 61 games for Man Utd and an Argentine International at the very least we should get 10m.
