Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

This is going to run untill the window closes I'm afraid. I hope Sancho will put in a transfer request because if he doesn't I think it's over. Hopefully we manage to get him and two or three others in.
 
So even after all the bluster coming out from the Dortmund side, we've yet to hear anything from the player himself or his camp and the club is still insisting that he's our top priority this window.

Expecting to get much more clarity from our side, in terms of negotiations/official bids or dropping out entirely, after we finish our EL campaign which won't run past the 21st at the latest.
 
Remember how hard it was for us to get Hargreaves? Is it a German thing to make each transfer almost impossible? :lol:
 
The PR campaign is the most obvious sign that the players head has been turned. If Jadon really wants to stay, this would be dead in the water.

What if he is homesick though? Don't think we'd ever begrudge players moving back to their homeland. Pique for instance.
He obviously wants the move as well, he can definitely mention that as well. He doesn't have to say I'm doing it all for the dough, ta ra BVB.

Even Bayern have mentioned earlier that there won't be much news in terms of their own transfers/sales until after the Champions League in response to Liverpool's interest in Thiago.

I'm sure the same is the case for Ch3lsea with Havertz having still been playing for Bayer up until yesterdy.

Some teams still have something to play for and are focused on the pitch at the moment so we're not the only ones with business on hold right now.
 
€120m is a fair-price for a player of Sanchos' quality and age. I'm not surprised Dortmund are playing hardball, especially with 3 years left on his deal. He'll go this summer or the next, same with Haaland who I believe has a €75m clause in 2 years time I believe?

It's just that the chances of us signing Sancho this summer is a lot higher than the next, where they'd be a lot more competition for his signature. There are times, when we should have backed away from certain transfers due to obscene fees involved, see Fred, Maguire, even AWB. But, this one we should pay up, it will be worth it in the long run.

If what Romano and Falk are saying is true (and they are pretty much always right) then Sancho keeping quiet himself is very much in line with the fact he's in total agreement with United and wants the move.

The issue is still between clubs however getting Sancho to go public and try and force the move might happen as the window goes on.
 
I don't understand this "briefing" that United wants Sancho now. Why would we put an offer and see how BVB react? They showed their cards, supposedly there is this 20M EUR they do not want in add-ons but guaranteed.

The BVB players all coming out with some weird comments is ridiculous, and for me, it's a mentality of a small club that is showing right there. Some sort of complex of inferiority. Either way, I think in our case, we just want the EL to be wrapped up so let's hope we win it, and after that, we can pay this stupid 20M EUR add-ons but ultimately, BVB should let it be add-ons. It's already a lot of money.

Defo, the price won't be lower next summer. Only another COVID lockdown causes it to lower.

Ah ok. So the focus on Woodward on here is more out of tradition. :D
 
From all the alternatives being mentioned, the one which makes most sense imo is Federico chiesa.
Douglas Costa is a crock whilst Dembele I have serious doubts about his character. I read somewhere that Dortmund took him to court about the damages he done to his hotel or apartment room.
(Also, last year Barca could easily eliminate Liverpool had he took his chances in second leg - that is enough on its own :))
 
I'm loving the Dembele and Costa links today, it's out way of saying there's other names. It has to be done, we have to be seen to be looking at other players too.
 


Would explain the apparent reluctance to confirm his short term future with Dortmund even as his club are doing their all to paint that picture

He didn't even know Sancho had an extra year bumped on to his deal till yesterday mate. I wouldn't trust him or anyone for that matter. They are using educated guesses and being deliberately vague.
 
It seems pretty clear that there's been plenty going on behind the scenes here and no official offer from United. Bids have been made to test the water and they were deemed too low which have forced Dortmund to go public as now showing. The next stage will be to see if United raise the unofficial bid or put a public one in and force a public rejection from Dortmund. This could be Sanchos que to publicly request a move.

All very interesting and Im glad it's happening with weeks to spare.

It’s what we call a derisory bid. Little wonder Dortmund were pissed and rejected all direct communications with us if that was the case. I just think United are being silly here
 
United will end up paying just to avoid the gruesome specter of Sancho playing for another club in 2021/22 while we watch on thinking about what could have been. It would be disastrous if Sancho were to pitch up at Liverpool, for example.
