Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

This won’t get done until Dortmund have got their replacement lined up - don’t think it will be Depay as Lyon normally try and screw everyone over and it would be obvious to them if they came in for him now that they had a bounty of cash - unless a deal in principal has been agreed and it won’t be announced until after they are out of the CL?

However, just seems that everything has to be such a long drawn out saga with very Utd transfer - why can’t we be fast and assertive and just get things done?

In this case probably because we want to remain on good terms with Dortmund by holding off on completing the transfer until they secure a good deal for the replacement. Think about it, we will likely have to negotiate with them again in the near future for one or both of Haaland and Bellingham (although I believe the former has a release clause that kicks in a couple of windows from now).

I'm sorry, but I got to ask: do you genuinely not understand why a club might want to do their pre-season knowing which player will be their lead in attack? And do you genuinely believe Dortmund could just call up the club of a potential Sancho replacement, pretending they just randomly want to add a star attacker to their team, running a huge transfer deficit in Covid times?

I agree with your general point but Dortmund can’t play the play Covid card one way and not the other - the market is down and they are still asking for a very high fee. Given the fee Ziyech went for and Havertz is likely to go for, I think 120m is too much. The window is open till October so this “August 10th is deadline day” is total nonsense.

Contract almost ready? He's been saying that was done!

I don't trust anyone reporting on this. Sure people know elements of what's going on, but only the bits both clubs are happy to let slip.

This is turning into a classic Utd saga where the leeches are happy to get their attention based on absolutely nothing. Worst thing is the likes of Woodward positively encouraging the spread of misinformation so he can report positively back to board meetings regarding online traffic.
 Yeah that's what they discuss in the board meetings.

Before this mess demands were rumoured to be €150m or more, so the €120m figure could actually already include a sizeable Covid discount.

To be fair, Romano has said the "contract being prepared" line previously. I think he just uses this interchangeably with deal as a whole being near completion.

All the journalists looking for followers by posting the obvious or out of nothing "they are working on the deal" should by over the moon by now. BTW what is the highest number of pages in a single transfer thread so far?

"Sancho then" says Howard Nurse

It probably means that Howard had learnt that Jadon Sancho's great grand father was born.

They have apparently been telling every journalist who wants to listen that their two red lines are 10 August and €120m.

To get a deal done, they will certainly now have to climb down from the former - we'll be hoping that they climb down from the latter, too.
But there are no public quotes as far as I can see which is an easier climb down. Zorc said he assumes Sancho will be on the training camp and will play for them next year. Not exactly set in stone.

He said player has agreed the contract, not that it was signed which player can't without Dortmund agreeing fee with ManUtd.

People negotiate deals during World Cups, I doubt that the CL tournament would put things on hold, especially if it's true that United have a €35m buyback clause for Depay, cutting Lyon out of negotiations.

Putting the distraction of endless transfer "updates" to bed. I won't pretend to know how things stand behind the scenes, especially not in times of crisis.

Fair enough, I do think this will all be sorted soon for what it's worth.

Be really funny if Sancho isn't even mentioned at the presser.

Was there a quote from Zorc recently on the date? Not sure but I thought I saw one

Delete all that stuff around your tweet

We all know what he is going to say

Obviously, he is on the plane, so he will say the deadline has passed and Jadon will stay for next season and is happy to be a BvB player. What happens next is anyone's guess. I just hope we don't go back and pay over 120m if they don't want to sell him after today, where 120m wouldn't be enough and was only until today.

So as above he never said the contract was done. Personal terms were agreed, so that's a different thing entirely. It makes the contract a mere formality I'd assume, but that doesn't mean the contract was signed.

This is what doesn’t make sense to me, the whole point in holding off is because we don’t want to pay their price, not agreeing something today would mean we cant agree on a fee and that won’t change unless we cave in. Which based on the briefs we aren’t going to do. It’s off!
Why are we the only side that has to cave in? Dortmund must be aware the price is very high in the current environment. They must know that Sancho wants to go, and they must know they'll be getting substantially less next season, or risk Sancho leaving the season after on a free. Is that worth the risk to have what could be a very unhappy player for one more year? That's a hell of a gamble.

How does an italian football jounalist know so much about the dealings of an English player potentially moving from Germany to England? There's no way he can know the contracts are 100% agreed. He's just going off the assumption that if a fee can be agreed then United will of course agree with the player or they will look foolish. I don't think anything is agreed with either party....yet.

Nobody is 100% trust worthy not even Romano. Remember people saying the other Italian guy, Di Marzio, was the go to guy up till last year when he had a total shocker and got plenty wrong.

Unless these guys are in tight with Sancho's agent there's no way they can know anything.

Notice how no German outlets are reporting that the deal is off even though they said the 10th was the deadline. Maybe that arbitrary deadline is just that.

Can you lot buy Depay (using your buyback clause) and sell him iimmediately to Dortmund at cost?

Brilliant, a random internet Chelsea fan on a United forum has just come up with the key solution to get this deal over the line. Someone should inform the clubs of this potential development!

Transfermarkt is reporting the deal is off the table based on Kicker report. Sancho is part of the team heading to Switzerland and no deals will be made after they left for training camp.

He is just trolling now

So he didn't know if Sancho in London was true but now he's certain Sancho is on the plane? idiot. Jan Farts. Good thing Roy Keane punched him. What a visionary Roy Keane was. Spotted a prick when I was still eating soap as a kid.

So as above he never said the contract was done. Personal terms were agreed, so that's a different thing entirely. It makes the contract a mere formality I'd assume, but that doesn't mean the contract was signed.

What else can "personal terms 100% agreed" mean? Obviously we can't sign the contract yet without BVB's permission, but that tweet suggests everything is ready to sign whereas what he said today suggests that isn't the case.

Oh I read your initial post extremely clearly. I do think Zorc will say that Sancho will stay another season today but may still likely sanction his sale in the next week or two. Why? Because he's done this multiple times before with other players.

I knew you had lost the plot with this part: "United would only have themselves to blame if Dortmund do stop contact now. They were given a deadline and didn't take it seriously." You have been sucked in hook line and sinker into the media narrative that United and Dortmund's PR teams have crafted.

The only deadline that matters is the end of the transfer window. Journalists have already said that the Dortmund imposed deadline is artificial so I'm not just guessing here. Its all theater that advances both United's and Dortmund's interests, United in telling other clubs that they are limited in terms of money they can spend so don't expect a crazy fee for your player and Dortmund in telling clubs that they aren't going to be flush in cash to shell out an exorbitant fee for a replacement.
United can brief that the deadline is artificial all they like. If Dortmund stop contact from today (and i said 'if' in my original post) then it would serve United right. I'd actually respect Dortmund a little more if they did stick to their deadline.

At no point did I have a 'meltdown'. I'd have said the same exact thing if I were a Dortmund fan.

And the only one coming off naive is you.

This is getting a bit boring now.

Anyone that tweets about Sancho, we are trying to second guess the tweet.

It is simple. Pay 120m Euros and the player is ours.

Had a feeling this deal wasn’t going to happen for a while now. Today’s news backs that up and I think this press conference will pretty much confirm things.

Before this mess demands were rumoured to be €150m or more, so the €120m figure could actually already include a sizeable Covid discount.

Come on mate, 150m for Sancho? He’s a good player and has a lot of potential but there was never going to be a market at that price. There isn’t even one at 120m. Again, the 120m still doesn’t take into account the other top attackers who have moved already. It would be unfair to compare Werner given he had a clause but Ziyech and Havertz are a good comparison.

Dortmund may not like it, but the facts are nobody else is in for the player. They can’t create an auction. Either sell now at the price being offered or take the hit and sell for less next year. One thing is for certain, it would be a much reduced fee with 12 months left on his deal. All they need to do is look at Sane going for 50m.
