Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Don’t know what everyone else is reading from the Ole vid but for me it’s definitely “Person, woman, man, camera, Sancho”

So, Nurse tweeted this on the day before Schneiderlin was announced: "Schneiderlin #MUFC" – https:// twitter. com/howardnurse/status/620348543811887104
And Nurse has just tweeted this tonight. Make of that what you will.

Said similar things just before we signed both Wan Bissaka and Bruno as well

If Howard Doctor exists, his statements would be more credible than Howard Nurse.

Not only Covid uncertainty, but he will have only 12 months in his contract next summer. They would be lucky to get 50m then. I would be surprised if the world record for a player in his last year of the contract would be anything like that, it is probably quite lower.

In all honesty, if we got an offer of 80m for Pogba and he would have told us that he won't sign a new contract, I believe that we would have sold him. Fortunately, there is neither an offer, nor Pogba seems to want to leave (I hope we give him a contract fast, cause if we don't play well, he might change his mind and then we will need to sell him for 30m next summer). So, I think that it mostly depends on Sancho. If he says to them that he won't sign a contract, BVB is going to sell him. If he is open for a contract then that is another matter.
It was literally last summer that Hazard went for £100m going into the last year of his contract..

In no way will Dortmund be lucky to get £50m next summer unless he either has a long term injury or massively disappoints this season.

He signed a 5.5 year contract in 2015, right? Wouldn’t that have kept him at Chelsea until 2021?

Edit: you are right, just read the article but didn’t do the calculation. Would be until summer 2020.

It's literally this year that covid has wrecked so many clubs finances. Which is why he is rumored to be available for 120m euros when they sold a similarly talented young player in dembele for 150m about 3 yrs ago.

If that Dortmund chairman is making an announcement today, that obviously means Sancho is staying. If anything was close to being done, he wouldn't be revealing it in a press conference. That would only be used to announce he's staying.

United would only have themselves to blame if Dortmund do stop contact now. They were given a deadline and didn't take it seriously.

Although knowing Ed, he's probably on a beach somewhere with no phone signal and doesn't even realise what's happening.

Not sure where they got that info from. Everywhere else at the time reported 1 year remaining e.g. BBC and Sky Sports

Agree, don't forget they still got 150m even with Dembele gone AWOL. Either pay 120m now or risk missing Sancho next year to Barca, Madrid, Pool, or Chelsea.

Could be. Hopefully that's no the case. But would certainly be odd to have a press conference to give your fans bad news (star player leaving).

Woodward would deserve all the criticism he gets if he messed this one up. I've defended him in the past but you can't fail to complete such important deals as a huge club like this and where we are in our development.

Zorc made that same announcement about both Dembele and Aubameyang just before they left. So I wouldn't heed much into that. He always puts on a tough guy veneer in the media when it comes to transfers.

Oh yeh agreed, if it wasn’t for COVID they’d probably be asking for £150m+, he’s already one of the best in the world in his position (something Dembele wasn’t).

But even so let’s not pretend that his price will drop to £50m next summer when his signing will likely be competed for by other clubs.

Did he hold a press conference for them, or were they more throw away comments?

There's a difference between Chelsea owned by a Russian Oligarch and Dortmund in this regard. Then there's Covid too.

I don't think you understand the term. I'm being realistic. What did i say that wasn't?

If Dortmund are making an announcement today on Sancho, what realistically do you think they're going to say?

If Dortmund do say it's off, after giving United a clear deadline that United briefed as "artificial" - Who would be to blame for the deal not happening?

Throwaway comments, as opposed to an actual presser, which is very counterintuitive to their stance this whole saga. Not to add, Sancho ain't going to kick up a fuss like Dembele did. All reasons why I think this time it may be different and genuine. I find it very hard to believe they come out and publicly said they aren't going to sell, only to turn around and sell, when they are so desperate to give off the impression they aren't pushovers. Especially when this presser is of their own doing, which will very clearly bring large attention to their decision.

If this isn't going to happen, we've missed a trick. 120m, considering the circumstances, is still a very sensible valuation imo. He's already genuinely one of the best on the planet in his position, is English and is a problem we have desperately needed to address for years. Pre-covid, he'd be 150+ easily.

It was always a matter of if we were going to pay it.

Missing out on Sancho could be the kind of error that haunts us for years to come.

Very like The Bruno and Maguire Deals where their perspective clubs played hard ball . Don't get off yet the Rollercaster hasn't come to a complete stop just yet .

Transfer window is closed in early October. Even if they make announcement now, they won't reject a good deal from us next week or in two weeks because next year they probably can only sell him around 40m as his contract is expired in 2022. We are dictating the time/duration/deadline for this deal mate.

Youre thinking like a football manager.

Its a business and there will be forecasts on variations in investment return.

120mill is a big sum.
